Ah that's good to know. I never have done NG+ even with games I have throughly enjoyed, as there are just way too many games and not enough time. That being said, it seems Sekiro is one of those games meant to reply multiple times. Is there an average playtime or a speed run yet since it's so new?

Guy already speed ran it in an hour. You can skip all enemies and go straight to boss fights FYI. There's absolutely no reason to kill anything other than what impedes your progress unless you need an item from them. All enemies have a leash range and you can even exploit that in order to get stealth kills easily when they turn around to return. It's weird in this game because a true souls game they would backpedal all the way to their spawn so you couldn't do exactly that. IDK why they changed it.

The more you understand about these games, the sillier the difficulty seems. Only boss fights can really give you a challenge which is how it should be IMO.

Thank you again Jodou. So far, what I am learning is this style of gameplay may be fun for some though it isn’t for me. The game ‘cheats’ way too much and from my takeaway so far the only way to win is to cheese bosses or die 700x while you learn the timings and whittle their health away, which is painstakingly boring to me.

For being my first fromsoftware game, I can see where some people like this, similar to some are into BDSM and enjoy being whipped and beaten. I’m not once who those who likes to suffer, and I don’t have time to waste fighting a single boss for three hours repetitively to learn their patterns. And as I said, the game cheats you hardcore. On lady butterfly now, the camera spins wildly and breaks line of sight, taking my target lock off of her, where she hits me because my back is now turned as she flies around. So just like Jozou, I have to look up methods like the following just to win, since the house cards are stacked against me.

The game really doesn't cheat and it's not nearly as stacked as it seems. It's a really difficult game that demands timing, dexterity, an understanding of the gameplay systems, and learning enemy move sets. That is, however, 110% not for everyone.

I do not mean to come off as elitist or a dick but that is painting the game unfairly. I personally have not had to play a boss more than a small handful of times, the longest back and forth taking roughly 30 minutes at most. I'm not cheesing any really either.

I honestly feel like a vast majority just aren't tapping in to the rhythm of the combat and the deflects. Once you can get your head wrapped around it the game isn't all that difficult.

Are there some little buggy things that occur that screw with you? Oh yes I am not denying that haha but that's in any FromSoft game pretty much.

I know Jodou has been here a bunch being overly critical and I respect the opinions. I understand being critical too because the soulsbourne series is my favorite of all time. Sekiro however has similar roots but is trying to branch off a bit and I completely love it for it.

I understand the timing and counters. The main issue so im having are the wild camera swings and breaking my target lock. Or how I know I’m blocking and an enemy somehow is hitting me, or when I’m in mid attack and someone get hit by another enemy, in the middle of a kill blow sequence. So are just so many odds stacked against you that I feel there is no other way to play than to cheese the game.

I really am trying and want to love Sekiro. I wouldn’t have preordered it so far in advance and devoted this much time to it so far. To be direct though, where I am at with lady butterfly, I feel like I’m wasting my time with the game rather than enjoying it.

Based on this reply, I'd say you're really not getting the game, and it's really not for you. We all have certain genres that we don't like, aren't good at, etc. I, for instance, SO BADLY want to like RTS games. There are a few that I know are brilliant games, but I am just shit at them--typically feel as though I have too many options and nothing works--and it ruins the games. These are great games that I just don't get. So I dip my toe in sometimes to test it out, find nothing has changed, and I move on. If you sell it now, you'll get most of your money back, and then you can spend your time with something that clicks with you more. It's entertainment after all, so spend your leisure time on something that makes you happy.

It's quite possible this genre, what I akin to torture porn, is not for me. I'm not asking for 99 lives and infinite powers. I just cannot comprehend how getting one shotted by a boss, whereas you have to hit them 87 times is fair. I simply don't get how that mechanic is enjoyable to anyone, for any reason. It is far too unforgiving.

Hahaha, that's fucking hilarious. Many of these bosses can be cheesed it seems if you find the right combo. I accidentally had that happen with Jinsuke just trying to use the axe tool and it turned out to be ridiculously overpowered against him, so I killed him just using it. I think this is what happens when you try to streamline your balance with only a few weapons and getting lazy on testing because suddenly there's less pressure to try to balance around hundreds of items and builds.

I love finding exploits honestly, it's part of the gaming experience for me. Sometimes I'll really dig a fight and work on it for hours to beat it legit and then there's times where I'm like, this boss is overly difficult for boring reasons: CHEESE TIME. My favorite fight is definitely Genichiro because you do NOT have to be bored to tears learning the parry timing on his attacks. I took a different route and it was WAY more fun:

Using the camera properly is part of playing this game. Personally I swing it off of myself during every kill shot and line up my next move. It’s almost elegant how you can manipulate the eye in the sky to be godly.

Dude I am terrible at Souls games, but I still picked this up and will give it a shot. But the thing is, nobody here really cares if you don't like it. We don't need 20 posts from you updating us every couple hours or days on how you are feeling about the game or genre that day. If you don't like it, sell the game, get 90% of your money back, and move on. But quit telling us how you feel about it because you're just regurgitating the same thing over and over.

See that definitely looks a bit more fun to me! I am enjoying the gameplay and the story. The skills are definitely interesting as well. This is one of my favorite genres and takes me back to the old Tenchu days. My only real gripe is the unbalanced boss fights.

I'd have to say Genichiro is my favorite boss fight so far. Without cheesing, fighting him and watching them swords crash together was some intense shit. He pissed me off a few times but after figuring out when to parry and attack (especially his last phase), I enjoyed the hell out of it. Same with Lady Butterfly.

Just FYI,

I was able to buy collectors edition today at Orange county area (southern California).

The stock checker showed it is available today in this particular store (which was not before) during lunch time.

The guy said somehow they got a shipment today to his surprise. So I grabbed it an hour ago.

Now, I checked the website again, multiple stores around Los Angeles actually shows that they have.

Most of these stores were not available yesterday (Yes, i was checking the stock for past few days :P) Even this morning, there were only three stores.

To make a long story short, it seems some stores got a new shipment today (at least in LA area). So good luck if you are still searching for it.

I kinda feel this because when I started Bloodborne a few weeks ago finally, I felt like the game didn't respect my time as a player because of some of it's design choices. I was told...you guessed it...git gud. But I like Sekiro so far much more.

I feel like the best thing for you if you bought it physical is to just go ahead and try and trade it towards something like Devil May Cry 5. Fun and challenging too.

Bloodborne and souls series are just a test of dedication. If you want to win you will grind yourself to goddom. You can literally trivialize the boss fights. Until the dlc that is.

"Git gud" is such a disrespectful term for people trying these games.  A more appropriate phrase is "stick with it", because once it clicks and you get some progress it becomes very fun and rewarding, it will come.  The games really aren't that hard to play through once you get the hang of the mechanics and mindset, and get some upgraded power.  You just have to get over that punishing hump where it seems like the only thing you can do is continue to headbutt that wall.  Unfortunately Bloodborne is significantly harder to summon people, as in Dark Souls it is a great way to learn and even the odds at the same time.

I just got Sekiro and will be trying it tonight, I didn't pre-order since we were out of town and for some reason very few Best Buys have it in stock near me so I had to order it.  I've kind of avoided too much information on it as I want to go in fresh and not have the first quarter of it spoiled like DS3, but I did wonder if there is a summon/invasion/message mechanic in this game?

I'm on this boss right now and that actually looks like a decent strategy haha. I've gotten to almost the end of the final phase several times but don't have enough left in the tank when I get there typically.

Edit: finally beat him tonight. This strategy didn't really work for me but just deflected and stayed on him and I eventually got him. The monkey boss is easily my favorite. Took me 5 minutes, nice relaxing boss 😂

It works if you enjoy hit and fade tactics, which is my go to. If you work best with parry, then by all means! I just got tired of watching all these parry videos for how to kill bosses when dodging is so much more fun. ;)

Beat the punk monk tonight after figuring out his kung fu cleave range. Pretty easy with the right setup.

Yeah I was finding that my dodging skills weren't quite as good, I'm usually decent with the guerilla warfare tactics but not this time, his moves always seemed to hit me when I would run or dodge. The occasional dodge works for me though against certain moves. I'm sure that boss is next for me. I'm going out of town for 5 days and I'm afraid I'm going to lose all ability to play this game.

Yeah, anybody who says this game is easier than the Souls games is full of shit.

Spoiler
are RIDICULOUS. At least the first one is not required to finish the game (required for Plat though) but this game easily has the hardest final boss. Not sure if I'm even going to be able to finish the game without having a stroke or destroying my PS4.  Never felt that way in the Souls games or Bloodborne.

I agree. I have completed the SoulsBorne games multiple times and am pretty damn good at character action games in general, and this title still had a steep learning curve and is overall very difficult. The Souls games allow you to level up, use magic, use different equipment, call in a buddy, etc. This game allows you to get better or not advance lol.

Laurence and Orphan of Kos solo we’re harder than anything I’ve done in Sekiro. I’m just getting to the end though. We shall see.

For those stuck on Lady Butterfly I recommend cheese method. You will have to spam the unlocked L1 + R1 move set right when it hits her to be in sync. Don't worry about her phantoms they can be easily avoided!

The game is hard but nowhere as tough as the souls series!

Until Sekiro, Orphan of Kos was by far the hardest thing I'd ever done in a SoulsBorne game. That guy is a nightmare!

Remember when games were actually hard? And we did not freak out over a game being tough? Lol @ this conveniently difficult title.
