Anyone care to chime in how this compares to the old Mad Catz controllers? 

That's fantastic for anyone that doesn't plan on customizing frequently. It's a little bit of a hassle to open up, especially compared to the MC/Razer sticks. Rock solid construction out of the box.

If you have those it's probably a better deal to just get an adapter.

Price seems to be like 120 now.

I own this stick (without the SCVI artwork), a RAP Vewlix, and two Madcatz sticks. This one is my favorite to use, though of course the Vewlix looks better. The Noir layout fits my hands better than the Vewlix layout and it's compatible with the Hori silent Hayabusa stick (a must for me, my wife HATES the sound of a Sanwa stick).

It's not hard to replace the stick or buttons if you are so inclined. The ones that come with it feel different than Sanwas, but they're equally good.
