PS4 hard drive may need replacing

Althax

CAGiversary!
My fat PS4 is having some wierd input lag all of a sudden today and research online suggests the HD may be going out.

I heard some wierd noises when I turned t on the other day and assumed it was a fan that needs cleaning, now I’m not so sure...

So anyone on to the main reason for this topic...

I haven’t looked into PS4 Hard drives at all! What kind of hard drive is recommended, how hard are they to replace? Any good deals going on?

PS4 HD replacement is super easy, you can find tons of guides on it. If you like to keep a ton of digital games, I'd recommend getting a traditional HDD (more storage, lower speeds) but if not, you could get a SSD (less storage but faster). Storage prices right now are pretty low.

A lot of people will suggest getting a hybrid drive and I don't think it's worth it. The way an SSHD works is that it has flash (fast) storage where it'll store frequently used data after 'learning' how you use your data but with something like the PS4, the only frequently used data will likely be system start up. After that, you like suspend your games and pick up where you left off so your only benefit really would be faster PS4 start up but on my Pro, I don't think it's noticeable (have a 2TB FireCuda). Now if you never suspend your games and always closed the games after you done playing (each time) and then start them back up next time you play, then I think SSHDs make more sense.
