Starlink: Battle for Atlas Starter Pack Switch ONLY $8.99 @ BestBuy

I don't know why, but I ordered one. I can see it reaching $5 if they still can't get rid of it but I can live with that. Thanks OP.

Hopefully this one has the game included. I bought one from Target some months back & the game wasn’t in it.

Until Saturday Gamestop has the bonus $5 on Switch game trade-ins, so those interested in just the Arwing can buy it from BBY for $8.99 and trade just the game in to GS for $9.40 (pro)

Man, I am so bummed this game didnt do better. It's a good game, and the ships were cool as hell. Sadly the content was too expensive to buy.
I got everything marked down when I was in WI for almost nothing.

Agreed, it's a really good game. I platinum'd it and never felt it was too same-thing after a few hours like every critic mentioned in every review. Finding the new species and just skimming around completely different-looking planets was always a relaxing fun time. The singular downside to gameplay is the way they tethered player 2 in co-op. My son hated getting warped back to me every 30 seconds if he wanted to explore something on his own. I saw no reason for them to do that.

I'd say it sold about as well as it could have, coming into the market as toys-to-life was dying all around it. It would have done much better as just a normal game where you could find/earn/collect parts to make new weapons, meet new pilots, and buy new ships.

I played it all-digital; not once ever thinking "I wish I had a big plastic ship attached to my controller right now..."

I bought a copy. Played previously but never finished. With the StarFox integration it's even better. Such a solid play through. Tons of fun to be had. Even if it gets repetitive.

I was reading that the only way to play this was with a ship attached to the controller? That sounds awful.

Also, it sounds like Starfox is only in the digital edition?

No. You can play in digital mode. You get digital versions of all the physical toys along with the other ship from the other versions. It's actually better to play in digital mode because you can't use your digital-only weapon and ship in physical mode.

Anyway, if anyone is on the fence, this is well worth this price. I bought mine a year ago at 30 and it was quite worth it.

After some research, its seems everything in the starter edition can be unlocked digitally. But any purchased physical add-ons only unlock for 7 days at a time before the physical toy has to be linked to the game again. That's a bummer since the dlc was on sale on the eshop over bf weekend. I would've bought that instead of the physical toys from the GS blowout sale early November.

Im not familiar, but I thought the switch ed. only had dlc, does it have a physical game "cartridge/card" inside?

Yes. I got the physical edition of the game from Amazon for free a while back, and I bought the extras as DLC when they went on sale. I can play the cartridge in "digital" mode and swap everything out in the in-game menu rather than use the toys.

It can get a little complicated. Any version of the game (physical or digital) can be played in "toy" mode or "digital" mode. In the normal mode, you have to actively switch parts out on the toy ships. But connecting a toy also allows its use in the digital mode for one week before needing to be verified again. I just bought the extras as DLC which allows for their use only in digital mode.

If someone owns the Switch starter kit only, it's actually better to play in digital mode, because by default the digital mode comes with more stuff unlocked than what the starter kit gives you the toys for.

Edit: Actually, I'm not 100% certain that the digital version can also use the toys. If it can, you'd have to purchase a separate ship mount, which defeats the purpose of buying digital to start with. But the physical edition can definitely play in digital mode with the DLC.
