Starlink: Battle for Atlas Starter Pack (Switch) - $5.99 @ Best Buy

Great way to get a second controller mount for cheap.

The game alone trades in for $2.20 cash at GameStop or $5 more if you do store credit. https://www.gamestop.com/trade/details/?pid=10170383
Thanks as getting another one for the second controller mount.

Also will be doing chat to get a $4 price match for when I picked it up for $10 a few weeks back. This is CAG after all.

Thanks, this keeps getting cheaper.  The one I got for $10 does not recognize anything attached to the left wing, so I will probably take it back.

Does this version come with Starfox as a playable character?

Do you have to play with the ship attached to your controller?
1) Yes, the Switch ver is the only one that has Starfox, and he is included in the starter pack.

2) Supposedly no. According to Ubisoft, "All Starter Pack physical starships, weapons, and pilots are permanently unlocked digitally as well." Other accessories you buy later will need to be scanned once per week.

Even at this price, I still don't want the physical edition of this game (unless you want the Arwing for display). The digital edition is currently on sale for $20 on the eShop and includes 5 ships vs 2, 7 pilots vs 2, and 12 weapons vs 3. Plus, you never have to worry about swapping accessories.

I've already got the digital version and was tempted to be a bastard and stock up on copies for dubious reasons, but I'll do the right thing and stick to my original plan: getting one set to have that sweet Arwing for myself, and tossing the rest of it out to Gamestop.

The Arwing itself is totally worth $6.  The game is a bit simple but fun and you can play the base game with what this pack includes (though the game is significantly more enjoyable to play with the digital expansion).

Once you connect a physical character/ship/weapon to the game you don't have to actually use the physical item for a week. After that you would need to use it again.  So just to be clear, you do not actually have to physically switch up the ship and guns on the toy to make changes if you go this route.

I'm going to hold out until Best Buy just gives up and dumps the unsold copies in a pile in the parking lot for anyone to take home.

Let's say I buy this physical copy of the game to get started. What would the cost be to purchase the other ships/weapons digitally?
My brother liked the game on PS4, but I'm thinking at this price, it would be worth playing again on the Switch.

I actually loved this game and was sad to see no one supported it. It's big problem was the figures had too high of a price point.
But man the game was fun. It was like no man's sky meets star fox

I think the cheapest way to get more ships and weapons would be to buy the digital version I linked earlier when it is on sale for $20.

Man that's a sweet deal. I know it would never happen but if that Arwing worked with the PS4 version I would be all over this, I don't have a Switch but Starfox 64 is one of my favorite games of all time.

You should get it for the Arwing toy. I bought the starter for $10 and traded the game in for 7$. Pretty much got the Arwing for around $3 to display in my game room.

Needs to go lower even with CGU
I’ll keep waiting
For what it's worth, my regional stores all had inventory of 3+ as of two days ago. After just one day at the $5.99 price, all of the stores are OOS and have about a week wait for store delivery. I know some BestBuy locations ship to home using store inventory, which might explain the change. Otherwise, I'd conclude that stock of this item is starting to move and the total inventory will dry up (sooner, rather than later, given this price point). I can't imagine this going much lower, so if you're on the fence...I'd recommend to lock one in at $5.99. Frankly, any additional savings would likely be minimal (assuming the price even goes that low).

As a tried-and-true CAG, I am aware of the inner battle between pulling the trigger and waiting it out (for just one more price break). My instincts are certainly indicating this is a 'buy, not wait' situation.

Do you need to connect to the internet to download the star fox game portion, or is that all on the cartridge? What do you need to download?

Yeah, I understand and appreciate the CAG in all of us and the general "meh" attitude towards any game that involves "toys to life" these days, but this is a lot of game for $6 plus a really cool looking Arwing you can display.  I honestly can't imagine playing this game on another system either since I almost exclusively used Starfox when playing the game (only swapped out for a few specific in game progress things or if died in a battle).

I really think that if Nintendo/Ubi had changed course a bit and done this similar to Mario + Rabbids style game with Starfox instead (and as a Switch exclusive), maybe drop the toys completely, this would have probably been the most popular Starfox game in years.

I got this for like $8 on clearance at Target and got into it enough that I didn't think twice about dropping $20 for the base DLC pilots/weapons (the other expansions are purely fluff but this base one does make the game a easier/more fun to play).  I was traveling a lot at the time so this became my airplane game too.  Spent many hours flying around, taking back planets from the enemies and just "doing stuff" that it wound up being my top played Switch game in 2019.

Would be nice to get two. I no longer have gcu.

That's just nice. I can't log in on pc. On the phone, it wants a password reset each login and doesn't save the payment info. Time to get "customer service".

I must have missed the $5 more. Amazing how the trade-ins change the next day.

I bought one. And just bought another. Can both players use the same starter kit aircraft and weapons?

Wait is this two player co-op?

Ugh...back to full price.  I keep missing these deals.  Maybe I should just surrender and go all digital with the Switch version.

Bought for $9.99 a few weeks ago. Did online chat to get price match difference and $4.xx credited back. This is CAG after all so I ain’t complaining.

It's the end of the line for this game. It might still go down to $5 but get it now if you've been holding out. My stores distribution center had 1200 before it hit $6 and they are now down to 0. Whatever small amount they sent to each store is all that is left.

What price should I target for pilot packs and ships?

Played it for a few hours, didn't like it much, traded at GameStop for $8.80.

Kept the Arwing and Fox figures, of course. =)

Seems like most of the physical ship and pilot stock was clearanced out 6 months ago, it went as low as $2 or $3 for pilots and guns at places like Target. Ships went for $8-10 but never went lower before selling out. I think most of the stuff is pretty scarce now for brick and mortar stores. Ships have crept back up to $15 and $20-25 in the case of store exclusives (GS, Target). Your best bet might be picking ships up used on eBay or maybe Craigslist ... although the ships have been out of stores for awhile now.

You actually just missed out on Gamestop's winter sales where ships were $4.99. By the end of it, it seems like most of them were in store only since the site was sold out.

I’m actually glad I missed out ... I’m not in the market because the ships always tempt me but they’re a pain in the @$$ to store ... at least most toys to life are smaller 😉
