Picked this up at launch when Target accidentally had it as part of the EA sale, and I really like it a lot. I'm close to finishing it now. My only complaint is the level designs are very "videogamey" instead of feeling like real areas that people live and work in.

Very linear, but I enjoyed this game a lot. There are some very difficult sequences, a LOT of backtracking, and a few almost cryptic puzzles, but a great story to be told. Kept me playing til the end...which seems to be rare for a few games these days.

How does it compare to the Force Unleashed?

If you are expecting the same game play mechanics as TFU, forget about it.   That's was my biggest mistake.   Also if you own an original XB1, it looks kinda shitty...almost 360.5 + PS3.5ish.  When you move the camera around holy crap it looks bad.   Also when it loads into the game you see the textures load in and they look PSP like for a second or two.

Oh and sith robes in TFU II >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cal's crappy poncho.

Agreed...even though some will justify the validity of the poncho by mentioning Qui Gon Jinn's poncho from TPM.

This has how I feel too without having played the game.  On the surface, he doesn't appear to be an engaging character in the slightest.

To be fair, there are much better outfits in the game. Even the starting outfit looks better than that ugly poncho color. But, I guess it's nice to just have the option in there for people who really like orange. There's a ton of unlockable options.

Also, there's no light side/dark side options to the game. The character and story are pure light side, so you're not going to see badass looking Sith robes (except on your enemies) and you're not going to have the red lightsaber.

Cal is boring.

Starkiller was also boring.

Both games are fun though.

(Fallen Order has some Horizon vibes, and some Sekiro/Dark Souls 1 vibes, that make it a little more my jam, but YMMV and all that).

I really like it, much better than I expected.

Pros:
-interesting characters
-fun combat that can be challenging and rewarding
-beautifully crafted worlds
-good story

Cons:
-repeating what was said earlier, levels are videogamy and not realistic.
-a lot of the cosmetics look very similar.
-odd bugs with some force powers. Rare though.

Definitely worth this price.

I'm assuming this deal was to match Target's deal last week, $45 on sale plus 25% discount with site to store pickup.

I actually got lucky and got an even better deal - they had a $25 gc for buying $75 of house supplies (TP, cleaners, etc), which you're going to buy anyway. So I did that, used it in combo with the sales, got the game for $11.25 all told.

Then got EVEN luckier, and they never marked my order picked up, so I got an email they canceled and refunded it - and returned the GC. So I ended up with the game for free, and still have $25 to use on something else!

You can still do this as of right now, but the game is back to $60 and the GC is $20 instead of $25 - so it would work out to (60-25%) = $45 -$20GC = $25 plus tax - slightly better than OP deal.

It's a small thing that I'm surprised hasn't been talked about with this game but the worlds feel so empty. Like FFXIII empty. You barely see or talk to people but you will see a lot of enemies. Doesn't help that if you backtrack (don't even get me started on that chore of a task), there is usually no background music playing. The worlds just feel sterile and lacking of life.

I really wish that I could grab a Steam copy for this price. I guess I just have to wait a bit longer, which is fine.

I mean, that makes sense in a way that he's going to places (no spoilers) that should be deserted for reasons. That said, aside from the intro (or at least from what I played) they don't focus on going places that would be far more interesting to explore if it were that type of game. But yes, for sake of the storyline (and probably lack of budget/dev time) the environments are pretty lifeless and boring. Just finished the kickstarter game Ghost of a Tale (also souls-like) that oozed charm and had incredible world-building. At this point, I'm not even surprised that AAA is being upstaged by indie.

Picked this up a week ago and so far I'm liking it. I had heard it called a Metroidvania, which is accurate, but no one told me it's basically Space Zelda, which was a pleasant surprise. I'm still getting the hang of the combat but I'm finding it satisfying.

I will say this game doesn't feel very Star Wars. I think of the EA Battlefront games, which put a lot of effort into sound design and how the characters look and move to give that effect. It's not necessarily a bad thing; I think there's something to be said for Star Wars media that tries to be its own thing.

I really enjoyed this game.  I loved the forced unleashed but I like the combat in this better.  It's not a hack and slash game.  My only criticism is the mapping system.  I found it hard to navigate at times.  A fast travel option would have been nice for those who like to collect all the items.

I like the game so far. I am about 10 hours in. I love games that give you new abilities that allow you to access parts of worlds that you could not before. Lack of fast travel and navigating the map is a slight issue (as mentioned above) and I feel the characters look PS3ish if that. But graphics aren't everything and it is a fun game to explore and item collect. Definitely don't button mash when in fights. You will get your ass handed to you.
