Super hype for Alan Wake 2, and was originally hyped for Star Wars Eclipse, but then I saw Quantic Dream’s logo at the end, realized it’s going to be Star Wars: Become Human and the hype evaporated like water on the sun.

Looked pretty impressive in the trailer … but I was secretly hoping Keanu was being rendered … that’s going to be the real mind blowing moment in the future … when someone on screen suddenly does something that makes you realize the whole image is a simulation …

Glad to see more Saint's Row gameplay, but the game awards were pretty meh.  Hellblade looked nice for sure.

Random side note, but after spending most of my CAG time in this thread, I recently started perusing the PlayStation thread and boy oh boy do I appreciate the Xbox thread folks even more. Helpful advice, civil chat, free movies. Not trying to start a console war, but thank you all for being a crackling fire in the middle of a cold internet wasteland.

To be fair, the thread has been pretty civil up until about a week ago.  I think as far as PS threads go, this one has had a good run.

Death’s Door was robbed. I liked Kena but DD was a much better game overall.

I didn't play Kena, but Death's Door was fantastic, wish it would have won.

I need to quit commenting on how much better Xbox is doing this gen as far as strategy and leadership is concerned compared to PlayStation, it really ruffles the fanboy feathers.

Wow … once you get to the open world map in the Matrix tech demo … that’s freaking amazing, the level of detail is probably the best I’ve ever seen in a game world … if that’s the future of gaming, I’m all in. It looks almost photo realistic.

Yeah, people are fanboys because they understand that companies have to charge a nominal fee for a new product, and don't mind supporting an already semi-retired franchise when it gets ported to a new platform. Remind me who bundles their highly-sought consoles with crap most people don't want in their email invitations to purchase the system, and attempted to literally double the price of their online subscription service in the middle of a pandemic when thousands of people already lost their jobs before backtracking after a huge backlash? You already forgot about that. Doesn't look great in your argument about being greedy.

The Matrix thing was pretty "woah" if you have the means to eat that 30 gigs I think it's worth it. First part reminded me of my youth and thinking what if these FMV laser disc games had actual gameplay. Ha granted being on rails it's not too far advanced from a Laser Disc game, House of the Dead and Virtua Cop level I suppose. The 2nd part of the demo reminded me of the first demo they showed for Watch Dogs, although this time you could actually play that.

I realize this isn't a deal, but I played Chorus from Deep Silver recently and I couldn't stop playing it until I finished.  (I couldn't even break away from it to try Halo Campaign yet) The controls and combat are so satisfying. It's like a badass open world Star Fox game for adults. Especially toward the end it just get's more and more wild. Flying into large enemy vessels, taking down their defenses, shooting their core and getting out before they explode.

 

It's about 10-20 hours depending if you do main story only or side missions too.

 

Anyway, keep it in mind if you see it on sale one day, I played on Series X but it's also available on PS5.

Heard a couple podcasts "singing" it's praises this week, one off the top of my head I remember is the Ex-Giant Bomb guy's new podcast. I hadn't even realized it came out. Might just pull the trigger on it at the $40 price, wonder if it will scratch the "Colony Wars" itch at all. A crime that franchise was left behind.

I plan on checking it out tonight. It's a good reminder that, as nice as some new games look on current gen, we haven't even scratched the surface in terms of development tools and modern engines that really take advantage of what current gen is capable of.

I hope it has better combat than those. It works for a character like Batman but Wonder Woman's strength and general fighting style should mean something meatier. I would prefer something more character-actiony. I would say DMC style but I could only see this team doing that if it mostly has fairly weak enemies, so maybe along the lines of current God of War with a bit more flair would be the best fit.

As for "expect", probably an Arkham/Shadow retread with more Nemesis systems since they patented it. Worst case scenario is another forced 4 player semi-Live game like Arkham and Suicide Squad.

This game is probably three years out with such a nothing trailer.

I think there are some good people on the Sony thread, but I think there are also people that try to stir up stuff also.  To be honest, I may have been a bit harsh to a person there recently who was having an issue with their console, but I also tend to be very sarcastic at times.  

 

I do appreciate this site as a place to talk about games and deals and think that (for the most part) we have a pretty nice community here.  

 

As I close in on being 50 years old, all I want to do is enjoy the games that I play and hopefully get some recommendations (and deals) for games that I might like also.  I find this is a pretty good site for that type of information.

Totally honest, I barely remember a damn thing about what was shown at Game Awards yesterday and only feel confusion still that It Takes Two got GOTY.

It Takes Two is a great game. Wanted Psychonauts 2 to win but am not really that upset with the outcome. Still have Death’s Door as my overall GoTY and was disappointed that it didn’t win anything at all.

IMO, the trailers were mostly CGI/announcements stating that development is still alive and the gameplay ones were kind of meh, except for Suicide Squad.

The awards ceremony felt rushed and too slow at the same time, and GOTY is basically a way for Geoff to award which of his personal friends made his favorite game that year. It Takes Two is a great game, but the entire show, Geoff basically kept pointing out the creator several times in a coy manner and talking about their friendship so he was bound to be the winner in every category it was in.

Once again, just opinion, probably wrong, but that’s how I saw that last night.
