With all the legal mumbo jumbo about Microsoft becoming a monopoly in gaming in the US over this Activision deal, I doubt they'll be acquiring any major AAA studios for awhile. Maybe buy a minority stake at best, but owning small studios really at best, but they can't go full Tencent.

All the legal mumbo jumbo is just that... mumbo jumbo. A false narrative perpetuated by the supporters of team Blue.  How can anyone claim Microsoft has a monopoly when MS and Sony both own exactly the same number of studios... 23? Did anyone go after Sony for having 3x as many studios than MS last gen? Does anyone claim Nintendo of having a monopoly for continuing to dominate sales NPD records and selling nearly 10x as many switches as Xbox and PS5? How is MS supposed to compete unless they acquire more studios?

 

What even constitutes a monopoly? 51%? MS doesn't even own 10% of all studios and there are much bigger players such as Tencent and Embracer Group. Pretty laughable to see console warriors take to twitter to actually call on the government to block the acquisition of Activision. Pathetic.  If anyone claims MS is a monopoly by which metric are you using? This isn't a case where 99% of PCs coming pre-installed with windows or Lia Thomas unfairly breaking records and running laps against the competition. Very far from that.

I kind of regret buying Watch Dogs 2 on sale, mainly because I won't be playing it any time soon and I already own it on disc, but also because I'm getting a feeling that this is just Ubisoft's way of cashing in before these games come to the service. It's a good game though.

 

I don't see how Ubisoft gets away with charging $15 for Ubi+ when EA Play is just $5 a month for comparable quality of games. I can see Ubisoft getting bought out at some point. EA is already looking for a buyer too.

 

I can see why MS went after Activision but I can see them going right back into acquisition mode right after that deal is done.

Ubisoft+ includes all DLC so you can't really compare it with EA Play which doesn't even have new releases on day one (only EA Play Pro on PC does). It would be great for binging DLC content if you have a lot of Ubisoft games that you want to play the DLC for (though that comes with its own complications with save data)

Before I go wasting my time, does anyone know if Series versions of games will play the standard version on old consoles? I’m wondering if I can copy an enhanced game, say Mass Effect Legendary, from my Series X to my external to be played on my One X. That would be less of a hassle than downloading the standard copy to the One directly, as my dl speeds haven’t been great lately

It's kind of hard to tell game to game. If they have a native version, no. Usually this means it will have the X/S icon on the icon.

I think that if it won't work on the older machine, then either it won't show in the transfer menu at all or it has some kind of message, but I only transferred a handful of games in this fashion like a year ago.

The CalderaCoaster EventLab - A800 Rally Monsters - 2 laps against 11 drivatars.  About 2 minutes per lap.  Another Hot Wheels prelude track.  Not sure if there were any really troublesome spots for the AI, but I had to rewind at some spots to stay on the track.  Otherwise, no problems in the 1985 Porsche #185 959 Prodrive Rally Raid (154 559 771).

 

Asphalt Assault Road Championship - S1 900 Track Toys - No problems in the 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista (549 647 333).  This championship will also cover Sunday's daily.

Cannonball Danger Sign - A800 Super GT - 738.2 feet (600 for 3 stars) - Took a few tries to get this with the 2014 Ferrari California T.  First attempt was started from the dirt road intersection east of the sign.  Hit 723 feet.  Then backed up to the intersection a little further east, hit the sign at 180 mph and jumped 736 feet.  Finally started from the "X" intersection a little bit further east, hit the jump at 187 mph and cleared 756.

 

Pequeño Puente Speed Trap - A800 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat - 145 mph - Watch out, there's a Charger and a Challenger in the same year.  First attempt hit 141 starting from the bend north of the trap.  Also hit 141 coming from the south, starting back where the stream crosses the dirt road.  Hit 151 starting partway up the hill north of the trap.

 

Quebrada Trailblazer - B700 base cost under 25k - 31s (30s for 3 stars) - First tried a stock 1997 Mitisubishi GTO (20k in autoshow).  Started from the dirt intersection north of the start, finished around 27s.  Did some upgrading, got 30s next attempt from same spot.  Then I started from closer to the stadium and rewound after driving through trees to clear the path and maintain speed.  Hit 31.3.

Complete a Horizon Arcade Air event in the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427.  The clue image included the Gran Puente bridge.  The Air arcade I did finished with the Valle Danger Sign, which is within sight of the bridge.  Not sure if that's a coincidence or if only certain Air arcade events will work.  The clue also implies just a round is necessary, but I didn't get the notice until the arcade event was finished.  So I'm not sure if it's just 1 round or all 3.

So early reports are that Blade Runner enhanced/remastered looks worse than the original.  Some of the screenshot comparisons aren’t flattering.  There’s also some glitches that will hopefully be patched out.

Haven't had time to play yet but looking at footage it looks like their upscaling technique was a bit overboard and smoothed out a bit of the pixel detail on the pre-rendered backgrounds, but it mostly seems to impact large surfaces like roads or walls and not so much that actual items and people. The FPS increase in the cinematics is the kind of thing people will be split on.

Bugs are the real issue, they said they're working on a patch, and they have had good post-launch support in the past. Both fixing issues and adding features. Probably should have waited but whatever.

this studio. They managed to botch the second easiest slam dunk of their time running this franchise, and now they're getting desperate to rake in cash elsewhere? In a collection of decade old games that they already to un- from their number one botch? The only reason it's hard to unlock everything in the first place is the forced grind once you complete the 100 SP from leveling.

I just finished Chapter 3 for all the characters today. I think it's just starting to get interesting though. I'm trying to play through 2-3 chapters per day before it leaves. I'll give my impressions after I finish chapter 4 tomorrow and see if it's still worth playing through. The voice acting and characters are kind of wacky but I have a thing for the English setting.

Go the file information for the game. If you see the terms "XboxOneGen9Aware" and/or Gen: Durango, it should transfer the non-enhanced version to an SSD.

I was playing a 3 chapters/one character scene a day until I finished chapter 4. Drew me in, so i stayed up another few hrs to finish the game. See how the character arcs came together and ultimately resolved.....well, that didnt happen. I had so many questions by the time I finished the game. Even waited til the credits rolled to see if there was a cut scene or just, something. How could so much be left unresolved?

I won't go on too much of a rant. However when the game is done and the opening cut scene of the game is never explained, that exudes a WTF. Enjoy the journey cause the end result leaves much to be desired

After that one character said he destroyed his phone to go off the grid and immediately the next chapter he was talking about how he was on his phone the next day and no one questioned a damn thing, I just had immediate red flags of knowing "this is not worth it." Then the fact none of the choices mattered and the characters kept annoying me because I had no say in any of it just made me straight up not care and now it's deleted. I'd rather spend this time grinding my Ninja Turtle characters to level 10 where at least I can say I'm playing something and not pushing myself through a game I have no fucks about where only reason I'm "playing" it is because achievements and it's leaving.

Shredder’s Revenge was great, if a little too easy. I played it 2 player through story mode in an evening. I’m not sure if my buddy will want to revisit it though. And I doubt I’ll tackle much of the game by myself

I only found John’s arc engaging. I thought there’d be a better resolution but it just ended. Going into it you are expecting everyone’s stories to tie together in a meaningful way but it didn’t. I don’t regret spending my time playing it but I was disappointed only because the premise and idea had potential.

This. After completing the game I wikied the studio and realized they made the game Virginia. Glad I didn't know that going in to play LS. I really enjoyed Virginia. After finishing that game, I checked out a "Virginia explained" vid and adored it after that. Mopped up the achievements on a 2nd playthrough & loved every moment

I get what the devs were going for, but yeah. I'd give another game of their's a shot.....if it was on game pass lol

On topic of the deals thread, since Game Pass came into my life, I rarely buy games anymore. But with that $5 back for buying $40 during this Deals Unlocked sale, I splurged. Got the AssCreed Origins season pass since that's the deepest discount its had, Phoenix Wright Trilogy for 50% off, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 for my daughter & the Goosebumps game for her too. Wanted to get Dying Light 2 since its 33% off/$40, but that game isn't cross gen yet. Update hasn't released so I can't play with my bud. I can be patient

AC:Origins had great dlc. I don’t buy games much either anymore because of Gamepass and there are a couple of games(Tales of Arise and Far Cry 6) on sale I’d like to get but they haven’t dropped enough for me. Phoenix Wright is still tempting but I think it’s just sit in my backlog forever.
