I'll get around to playing it eventually, but BOTW was more like an 8 than a 10 for me. The world was not as interesting as say The Witcher 3, Red Dead 2 or GTA V.

My quick impression from getting through sort of the very beginning bits of Zelda:

If you were lukewarm on BotW, you'll probably feel the same about TotK.

I'm a little surprised how not different it is, truthfully. That's not bad, necessarily. Just thought it would not feel so similar.

But I am enjoying it. New stuff is cool.

While everyone else is obsessed with new releases, I finally got back into Fallout 4, and I am hooked.  The loading times when played on the Series X make it a much better game than it was on the Xbox One.  Nothing like sniping raiders' heads and kneecaps from afar.

Anyone use a media remote? Mine suddenly stopped working with my series x but still works on the one x. Nothing blocking the console or anything.

Tried Google and mostly get results from early days of series x with people wondering why they can't control the volume. Anyone got any ideas?

Remote support improved officially I'm not sure when, but in the CEC settings you can use any remote. Do you have that one on?

I just reached level 20 in Diablo 4 and took down Ashava playing a Sorcerer using a firewall hydra build. This is my first time playing Diablo using a controller. I'm surprised at just how good and intuitive it feels to play. This game is going to be huge!

 

Really wish Microsoft would hurry up and acquire ABK so we could get Diablo on Game Pass lol. Monday the 15th is supposedly when MS gets the decision from the EU concerning the merger.

Not sure if they’ll ever have a proper next gen upgrade for it. But it does have FPS boost so plays at 60 FPS on Series X/S.

$180 in Amazon gift cards (from Rewards) to buy three 12-Month Live Gold cards, then 1-Month GamePass Ultimate (also from Rewards).

Huge sigh of relief that this still works and I was able to do it successfully. Thanks to everyone who continually reminds us how to do it.

Some brief thoughts on things I've played recently

 

 

Life is Strange True Colors

• I'm like a month behind on my thoughts since it left Game Pass. I loved it though! I still think about it every so often. Not as good as LiS1 but still very solid.
• Nice cozy vibes with its setting. Now I definitely want to travel to Colorado some time in the future, maybe check out Telluride (or other places that resemble Haven Springs).
• I resonate strongly with the themes of the game so there's a little bias there. Looking forward to catching the Ultimate Edition at more than 50% off so I can play the DLC (and Before the Storm).

Chorus

• 1000/1000 in about 19.5 hours, more than I'd like to admit honestly.
• I played it earlier last year but fell of it after maybe an hour (before I got the first power); ship combat is OK at first but definitely opens up more once you get additional powers and upgrades
• Side missions are a bit fluff and somewhat repetitive and uninteresting, basically just an excuse to shoot more enemies.
• Story is nonsensical
• Solid production values for a AA game (or whatever this is).
• Very glad I didn't buy it. Normally this isn't my type of game but I did enjoy the dogfighting.

Next on my list is Citizen Sleeper since it might leave at the end of the month. Bloomy's list also shows that Hollow Knight might be leaving too but I don't want to play a Metroidvania at this time; if it does leave then I'll try to put some more time into it to form an opinion (I think I only played like 20 minutes before I dropped it)

 

Other titles potentially leaving that I'm looking forward to playing for the rest of the year while I wait for the Xbox bangers

Buy key on gameflip, wait for key to arrive, VPN to Argentina (or whatever region the key is), login to xbox.com and redeem key, turn off VPN, install game on Xbox and enjoy.

A lot of folks here, myself included do use this method to get games. I've never had any issues and I don't think anyone else here has either, but Ms is aware of the loophole. They've never taken action against anyone doing this to my knowledge but there have been guesses they'll lock this down at some point.

The first Life is Strange is one of the games I think about the most.  I lost my sister a couple years before it came out.  She was a photographer that loved games, thanks to watching me play games like King's Quest or Monkey Island that I would narrate for her when she was a child.  The last game we ever got to discuss was Telltale Walking Dead S1.  I was sad she never got to play LiS because I know she would have loved it.

 

I haven't played LiS TC yet, but I'm aware of some of the characters and themes that are going to hit hard when I do.

I just did this yesterday too. I used 3 12-month cards I bought on NewEgg when they were $50/ea though.I will also confirm it still works. Now I have Gamepass Ultimate until 5/12/2026, now if I could just get Microsoft to make some 10/10 bangers.
