I think that’s just a set rotation. That bonus came up quite frequently during the off-season

Kinda figured after a few days ago we got movie show times. I'm just eagerly awaiting one for "EVENTS IN YOUR CITY!" or something on those lines.

And I beat four games this month (428 Shibuya Scramble, Yakuza Kiwami, RYSE, and Untitled Goose Game). I Think Wolfenstein: New Order, God of War and maybe Nier is next for next month's thing's I'll beat. It's still weird working through my backlog without having to think of my social life and at least pretend in front of friends and family that I'm not a horrible hermit monster person. Now we are all hideous horrible hermit monster people!

Has your head been up your ass? Gamestop as a whole is a shit business with a Fuck you mentality to people who work their and their customers. Hence, the memes and shit about trade in values etc. They provided no protection for their workers, called their business essential and asked them to simply put their hands in shopping bags when interacting with customers. Grocery stores and restaurants that remain open have taken to protecting their employees and customers with social distancing, heightened cleaning procedures and no touch policies. Hell Best Buy will drop a pick up order in your truck with surgical gloves on, not toddle out like a moron with 2 blue grocery bags on their hands and hand it to you. Fuck Gamestop and their business model. The people working there can transition to many industries post corona but hell no one even knows what that landscape looks like currently for anyone.

I hate when overwhelming ignorance pushes me to be off topic after two posts ago complaining about this shit.

Thanks for proving you can be really fucking ignorant. Kudos. At least your name fits. Now, go take that anger out on something, it isn’t healthy being that mad on the internet.

Dark Souls doesn't need to be played in order. The stories are related, but only in the sense that they're all about cyclical time and the end of a particular age. DS3 has the smoothest movement and combat, best graphics, and most active community. I recommend people start with it all the time. If you like the core gameplay DSR and SotFS are totally cool in their own rights and worth a playthrough, but they have a lot more jank and places where you have to crank your brightness.

FE FI FO FIC, I smell someone going off topic!

Yeah, but is there an easy mode? Last one i played was Souls 2 base. It's not that it's hard. It's that it's unforgiving.

I stumbled across a weird section of the Microsoft store last night on my Xbox One X. It has a lot of those kinda garbage indie games that the 360 had. Except instead of them being 99 cents like they were on the 360, some of them go for $8 or more. I already bought a bunch of the slightly better ones when they were available on my 360, so it's weird to see them again, especially knowing that if I want to play them for nostalgia's sake. I'd have to buy them all over again for way more than I originally paid.

Yes, after you beat the first boss you can buy the White Soapstone and summon people to beat the game for you while you eat cheetos. 2/3s of the first bosses attacks can be parried, he's weak to fire and you can start with fireballs or firebombs, and unlike DS2 your HP doesn't drop from dying multiple times.

DS2 is by far the hardest in the series. Between 50% hp reduction, all healing ticking up over time instead of being instant, constant group attacks that play against the lock on mechanic, respawning npc invaders, and the clunkiest movement in the series, DS2 was simply designed to embody the tagline of the first game: "Prepare to Die."

Finished Doom Eternal, hot damn. Some thoughts:

-Doom 2016 was truer to the original games in that it was a good balance with retro-modern bullet sponges and nonstop action. Big guns, big monsters, kill anything that moves. Eternal is definitely an evolution of the series in a way 2016 wasn't, due to the air dashing and constant juggling of resources - there is way more nuance and depth to playing it which is not evident watching gameplay online. Whether or not Doom should have nuance and depth, I can't say, but Eternal is a fantastic game.

-One of the most beautiful games I've played this gen, and it's super smooth too at 60fps. Wow. Level 12 (Urdak) reminds of Halo if it was designed by id Software based on the architecture and color schemes.

-If you hate the platforming, level 12 is not for you.

-Complete the Slayer Gates, unlock the Unmakyr, not doing so is a mistake.

There is a boss fight at the end of level 12 that had me raging, way more than Marauders.

Spoiler

Still one of the best games of this generation and a worthy sequel to 2016.

I think I am near the end of Chapter 11.  I hate platforming and disliked he earlier platforming so not looking forward to chapter 12.   I stopped playing when the Borderlands 3 DLC and update came out on Thursday.  Probably be at least the end of the week before I get back to Doom.

For me the game is fun when you are in actual combat.  Not a big fan of the platforming and air dashing nonsense.   I am sure I will eventually get through it but really sucks they added this crap to Doom IMO.

Hopefully the two DLCs aren't heavy on the platforming/air dash stuff.

Had I known/paid attention I would probably waited on this game to be cheaper to be honest.  It takes me out of the game after finally beating a hard combat section to have to spend time platforming and airdashing.  In an earlier chapter I almost gave up.  I was going towards an optional section (thought it was required) and just couldn't get there.  More then a few times I wasn't sure which way to go.  Just looked it up on youtube.   Too frustrating for me trying to go away you can't go.  Am I not able to go that way because I suck at air dash/platforming or is that a way you truly can't go.

2016 was a lot more fun for me.  I haven't played Doom 64 looking forward to that as well as finishing Doom 2 playthrough on Xbox One.

I don't mind the platforming, but I do find it unnecessary. The mobility and dashing on its own is great, since it adds some strategy and athleticism to an already hectic game, and I do appreciate that it makes for better exploration when looking for secrets.

Now that they've stretched the Doom formula into modernity, can we please get a Quake series remaster?

This is my feeling as well. I like Doom Eternal and appreciate that it's an evolution for fps gaming, but I kinda wish it was just a bigger Doom 2016. I suppose I could get that from SnapMap, which I never really tried. I should have more time this week to put into Eternal, and I think once I get into the rhythm of the resource management, it will click, and I'll be taking back all the shade I'm currently throwing around. :)

Stay safe out there, don't touch anyone and don't even look at people if you can help it. If you can see their eyes, you can catch it! (Sorry, work is really stressful and I'm starting to go a little crazy).

Follow my advice a few pages back. Prioritize upgrading grenades, the Super Shotgun, and ammo capacity, or else it's a real pizza / french fry situation.

Thanks for the giveaway!
Question for everyone: In the last year, what game releases have made you throw out the rules of CAG-dom? From the start of 2019 to now, what games have been day one purchases or even, dare I say it, the blasphemous pre-order? (Not free or got it through Game Pass)

For me it's:

Resident Evil 2 Remake (Xbox One)
Borderlands GotY (Xbox One)
Beat Saber VR (PS4)
Five Nights at Freddy's VR (PS4)
Doom 3 (Xbox One)
Shenmue III (PS4)
Doom 64 (Xbox One)
Resident Evil 3 Remake (Xbox One)
Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4)

I think the only 2 games I got new were BL3 and Fallen Order.

Looks like if you own Breakpoint you can invite 3 others to coop, they just need to download the trial and they can join your game for free.

Alright Guys, it's been a while since I did a giveaway like this, but since the world is still in lockdown in most places, here we go:

I have several Codes for Jump Gunners left

(Link to the Game can be seen here: https://www.microsof...vot:overviewtab

To enter simply press the Like button, contest will run until the new Deals of the week are up.

BONUS: If you like this post AND quote it with a positive message (while also staying on topic) , I will throw in another random game for 2 people who were also quoting, when the winners are drawn.

This is a really good idea, I have several older codes that are just laying around collecting dust. I’m gonna try to get them together when work slows down later on this week and do the same thing you were doing. Thanks again man

Not too many since GamePass has really started to bring it, but I did pre-order Borderlands 3 for Day 1, and same with Cyberpunk 2077.

A couple others I bought on great pre-order discounts, with the intent to break even on a quick trade-in flip, but those weren't breaking the rules

It's definitely been a good time for new releases. Mine have been subsidized by MS Rewards or otherwise discounted credit, but I suppose the end result is still paying full price even if it wasn't $60 out of my bank account.

Jedi: Fallen Order

Doom Eternal (preordered in August when Prime still had a discount, canceled for digital)

Final Fantasy 7 (also on discount when Amazon matched Target, but may cancel for pandemic reasons)

Hard consideration for RE3 but I think I'd rather go through the backlog and get it on sale.

Edit: I also got Pokemon in November but that was more for my girlfriend.

Getting close to the end I think, but Eternal is excellent. Flaming meat hook is so, so satisfying.

Play Nightmare (or Ultra-Nightmare) only if you're masochistic. I did for three levels, but I was getting frustrated enough with my lack of progress that I gave in and went to Ultra-Violence from the fourth map on. That difficulty is clearly built for mouse and keyboard with the increased precision as well as weapon switch hotkeys.

Once everything clicks though, the game feels amazing to play. It is a bit of a departure from 2016 because of the increased complexity, so it's understandable if some people aren't crazy about it, but I'm loving it. Give me more.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
The Lego Movie 2 Videogame
Borderlands 3 Super Deluxe Edition

Pretty sure those are the only games all year that I paid full price on release. And two of those were less than $60 at full price.

Yes oh yes please.  This may be rose-tinted glasses speaking, but I had a GREAT time sneaking into the computer lab on campus and installing the game and playing it with all my fellow computer lab employees.

I'll never forget when one of my best friends was caught playing a game in the lab by our boss and she just stood there and watched him play.

When are the free games for April getting announced?

I'm betting they'll be discovered in Bloomy's scan before they actually get announced.  The Major is free to prove me wrong though...

I had a bunch of those promotional credits over Christmas, so I bought FFX/X-2 as soon as I was able to and don't regret not playing it one bit (even though it's on GP now).

Kind of sickening looking back that I've only started 19 of them and alot of them have ended up on Gamepass at some point.
