Anyone know why my LAN speed for my PS4 would be 100Mbps full duplex compared to 1000Mbps for my Xbox and PC?

It's a thing. I don't remember the fix but you're not alone.

Isn’t this because PS nerfed speeds due to covid to divert some of the stress off service providers for more essential stuff..?

I would be fine with $70-80 games at launch if it included everything and removed microtransactions. But we all know this is never happening. They will continue to nickel and dime experiences. The industry can cry all they want about costs but THEY are driving those costs. I love great graphics but not everything has to be photorealistic and 200 hours long. If Cyberpunk wanted $80 I think that is fair. The problem is every "AAA" game is charging $60 when not all games are equal experiences. The industry creates its own problems and then cries about how they are losing money, which I also do not buy. We would not have video games anymore if these publishers were losing so much money.

2k is definitely not removing micro-transactions for NBA2k despite the price increase. I know the industry has been looking for ways to monetize but I'm not convinced raising the MSRP is the answer if it results in fewer sales.

A game like Cyberpunk feels worth $70, given how long it's been in development and how long it likely will be. But if Destiny 2 and Apex Legends can be profitable as free to play, I bet 2k could make a F2P basketball game and do seasons with updated rosters and make just as much money if not more (while saving money on distribution).

As Americans we have been so lucky. Japan has never had a set price for games, and they let Japanese game companies price their games however they wanted to. A lot of the games that we got in America for $60 were retailing for up to $100 in Japan, and even more for the special editions.

If you need a $10/hr raise to pay for a raise in video game prices then you have problems way bigger than video games going up in price. A 10 cent an hour increase would get you an extra $200 a year (assuming 40h/wk) which would easily pay for the $10 difference on the handful of games that are worth buying at launch each year.

Also, if we're going by inflation, games should be closer to $80 than $70 by now.

I was speaking towards the disparity between the steep incline of inflation and the meager gains in salary that the economy of the last two decades has allowed many employers to give.  This doesn't equate to an inability to pay $70 for a game.  Its a general lack of desire to pay more for yet another thing, especially when in most cases games end up not worth the initial asking price to begin with.

Also why are you trying to justify a price increase to a community dedicated to being cheap?

There's a decent chance that 90% of PS4 owners' home internet speeds are below even 100 Mbps (citation - Record Book of Made-up Facts) so that wouldn't affect them anyway.

No. It was fine when I checked my speeds a few days ago. I just started having issues yesterday.

Maybe the PS4 Ethernet port went bad?

LAN stands for local area network...it's your in-home network, not your outgoing connection. If you don't have the gigabit fiber plan, then you shouldn't worry too much. But if you do and want to capitalize on that, then it's likely your PS4 that has the problem. Most likely internal hardware issue, though I guess you could try resetting it to see if driver versioning plays a factor.

Still, 100Mbps is plenty fast for downloading and installing games given how many we all buy. It's not like the slower connection really throttles your gigabit connections, either.

I won’t believe an standard increase in game prices because one game by one publisher shows this. The rise in development in AAA games has gone up and I can understand why they may use that to justify a price increase but with bugs at release and server issues in online gaming, I have little sympathy for them. Over the past couple of years, there has been less than a handful of games I’ve gotten at full retail and most of those were gifts. I personally wait for a sale or price drop for any game. I love Saints Row the Third but I’m still going to wait til it drops and I’ll wait for Black Friday to get the new Assassins Creed game.

So kind of a silly/lazy question: Is there any way to see if I already own a 360 game on the web if it's been delisted? I know I could probably go through my purchase history, but it's long, and I am nowhere near my 360 right now.  Trying to see if I bought Shadows of the Damned.  I know I was trying to gather up all the Grasshopper Manufactured/ Suda51 titles, but I don't remember if I bought that one or not.

I feel Xbox should retail the new console for $300 at most, just because so many people are hurting because of job losses and covid is not going anywhere for at least a year, if not longer. There is no need for new consoles this year. Just wait until next summer, there is no rush to launch when people can barely put food on the table.

If people's dumb asses can't figure out if they need food or a new console then that's really their dumb ass problem.

The Xbox Series S is rumored to be less then $300.

If no one buys the new consoles then they will come down in price, however I think if they are $499, they will sell out this fall, especially with the limited production availability in China.

Microsoft is being really nice this time though, if you have a launch Xbox One, you can still play Halo Infinite this fall, you don’t have to get a new console.

Me buying a cheap 360 BC game: game goes free with Gold within a month or two (Shantae, Saint's Row 2)

Me not buying a cheap 360 BC game: game gets DELISTED

I have Shadows of the Damned on disc, but c'mon.

Several months ago, I was resolved to wait until a price drop or after the initial kinks were worked out. About two months ago, I started to think well maybe I’ll get it. Now if the price is right and I’ve saved up enough cash, I’ll get it with a year warranty.

I haven't looked much into it, but I saw few articles from a little over a month ago that where they had said that MS had said that "Thousands of games from past generations will be playable on the series x". They also included that the series x will be "almost fully backwards compatible with past generation games".

I know they stopped adding stuff for the current generation, but could/should we see a huge announcement of additional new OG Xbox/360 that will become backwards compatible with the Series X either this month or closer to launch? Or are they just kinda throwing the games that are already backwards compatible into the "thousands"?

They pulled the BC team to the new console a while ago, so I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the mic drop moments in July or August is a whole bunch of BC games for Xbox Series X from OG Xbox and 360.

I believe their intention is to have every game you can currently play on your Xbox One playable on the Series X.

I think of the big reason that games have not been rising in cost as much as some would think is due to both the move from cartridges to discs and to the rising player base resulting in increased sales. I felt like I remembered GTA 3 breaking all the sales records by a long shot when it hit like 4 million in sales. I looked it up just to be sure and it sold about 5.6m. Released in 2001. Fast forward to 2014 for the release of gta 5. In its life it has sold over 110 million copies. Was it more expensive to make gta 5 than it was to make 3? I bet it was. But it also sold 104 million more copies.

Even something small, Dead Cells, has sold over 3 million units now.

There is a website that is dedicated to delisted games.  I don't know how often it gets updated though.

$70 games is kind of interesting. NBA2k and Call of Duty, seem to be the games that could pull it off. They have their base that will pay whatever the cost at $70 and probably not lose much audience, flip side they aren't going to gain any either. Personally from GamePass alone I don't know the last game I paid actual retail price for, probably Red Dead 2. I'd probably pay the $70 for Elden Ring if that happens but I would pass on so many other games. Resident Evil 3 a good example. I'm old enough I worked retail during the N64 and PS1 launch era, haha watching the sticker shock of moms when I tell them that Mortal Kombat is $79 on N64 and $39 on Playstation 1 was good times.

I think they can say thousands of backwards compatible games because on Xbox One alone is over 1000 games. I should know I have freaking 1500 games installed on my hard drives.

But I would really like more OG and 360 games added. Still many titles that need to be added

If the standard MSRP increases to $70 for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 but stays at $60 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, then it won't impact me immediately, as I don't plan to get either new console for two years or more, probably when there is a Slim or revised version (I got my first Xbox One, a One S, in December 2017). But I wouldn't rule out an increase across the board...kind of a 'rip the band-aid off' approach.

Like many here, I hardly ever buy a game at list price, so if/when the increase does affect me, I'll just adjust my threshold for even *thinking* of buying--usually 50% off--from $30 to $35.

The funny thing is I can imagine myself five years from now seeing a game on sale for $20.99 (70% off) and not buying it because I'm waiting for it to hit $17.49 (75% off).

Forgot to mention that in my post that they forsure are considering XB1 "previous gen" although for the first time it doesn't even feel like we're going into a "next gen". They do have so many games that would benefit from becoming BC that aren't already. I would hope that the goal is at least 75%-80% of XBOX/360/XB1 games eventually becoming playable on one console.

I believe their intention is to have every game you can currently play on your Xbox One playable on the Series X.

I would hope that that goal has already been completed since they haven't been doing BC for current gen for a year. I'd hope that they don't settle just for what they have already.

As sad as it might be, a huge additional BC announcement at this months show would be the highlight for me regardless of what else they show. It would make me buy the series X day one.

Ended up getting Greedfall. I like and own the older Spiders games, and this one was kind of giving me Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed vibes. I'm sure it will be on GamePass in a month or three, or maybe Games with Gold. But, the more games that I can get easy achievements with for that 50 points a day, the better.

BC announcement would do nothing for me. I barely have time to play my current gen games. I have zero interest in old games with potato graphics. I want the new systems to have new games. Give me new experiences. No old enhanced ones.
