Who's getting this on the 20th? I definitely am. Hoping to see some familiar CAGs that I played City Folk, New Leaf, and Pocket Camp with.

Picked up another Switch today so we don't have to share. Looking forward to this Zen game.

The digital version is now live worldwide.

Some people have early physical copies from GameStop, Amazon, and maybe some other stores.

I hope you're all having fun on your deserted island getaways.

I didn't watch all the videos or read up on things, so I wasn't aware of some changes that has impacted my early game play.  Also never played Pocket Camp, so if they were introduced there, I wasn't aware of them.

The placement of items outside includes fish and bugs.  Since Nook only accepts 5 items before Blathers arrives, the floor space in my tent was full and you don't get access to storage until after upgrading to a house, I sold a bunch of fish and bugs that I'll need to recatch to submit to the museum.

I didn't want to set up my museum in the part of the island you initially have access to, so I held onto his tent after starting last night.  Then I found out Blathers provides the recipes for a shovel and a pole to vault over the river.  So I lost a day of museum / exploration progress.

Can someone give me a run-down of how local multiplayer works?  I'm downloading it to two Switches right now, hoping to be able to play it with my son and create/maintain a village together, ideally without having to have two Nintendo Online subscriptions.

Does that work with two Switches, or do we need to take turns playing on one Switch but with separate users?

The outside decorating actually started with Happy Home Designer and then Pocket Camp was all about that, but it was only for furniture and clothing, nothing else. What you described is a new feature. I just started this morning, but I've been playing the beginning of the game with the mindset that things can be moved later, so I just put my tent, my villagers, etc where the game didn't have any complaints about them and I'll just move them later when I have more access to the rest of my island.

I'm not sure how it works yet in this game since my airport is still closed and I can't go anywhere or invite anyone yet. In previous games, you could do the same things with local multiplayer that you could do online. If you have two Switches and two copies of the game, you should be able to visit each other without sharing a Switch. Some of the commercials they've had have shown local multiplayer, like this short part in this commercial (the video didn't start at the timestamp I linked - it's about 15 seconds in):

The game's official page says it doesn't support the cloud save functionality of Nintendo Switch Online, only some limited recovery data. So if you want to share the same island, it will have to be on a single system. It will take a few days before other player characters can be added to the game.

Are you using your account on both Switches? Or did you buy a second copy? Nintendo digital purchases can be used on more than 1 system provided the purchasing account is there, but only 1 copy can be played at a time. May be irrelevant if you want to use the same island, but if you want to have your own islands and visit each other, you'll need to buy a second copy.

You were never able to (legitimately) move some of the permanent fixtures (houses, museum) in the past, so I figured that would remain. I've read some things that imply things could be moved later.

Wound up getting it to play with one digital purchase on two Switches simultaneously. What I had to do was disconnect the primary Switch from wifi (and keep the secondary Switch on it). Then it worked without a hitch.

Haven't tried local wireless yet-- I think I need to progress further to unlock it-- but hopefully that works with this method.

edit: Local wireless does not work with this method. The game detects that the copy is the same, unfortunately. I'll probably end up buying a second copy at some point.

These are the buildings that can be moved later:

unknown.png

It costs 50k bells to move them and 30k bells to move your house

So if you're worried about where you're placing things now, just put it anywhere so you can progress in the game and you can move it later for a price. The only buildings that seem permanent are the airport and Resident Services.

I think that is a great idea. Reddit has a subreddit for this but it is overrun with bots. I prefer to stick with a more trusted community.

Today my Nook's Cranny is buying turnips for 131 in the AM and 118 right now.

Definitely would like to find someone with 300+ to make a decent profit this week.

We should post our turnip buy/sell prices. What do you guys think? Nook is buying for 81 right now over here.

Speaking of turnips and reddit, found this turnip price forecaster on there:

You need to know the price Daisy Mae sold for and as you enter more values during the week, it'll narrow down what pattern you might have and give a range of low-high values that it could be for AM & PM each day.

https://mikebryant.github.io/ac-nh-turnip-prices/index.html

Here's the reddit post that explains it.

Seems to work better for me than the Stalk Market Wizard that was made for City Folk and sort of worked in New Leaf (it worked most of the time, but not all the time for me). I tried the Stalk Market Wizard for my first week of turnips in New Horizons and it told me to hold my turnips when they were at their highest price for a spike on Wednesday afternoon - the price ended up dropping then. I still sold my turnips on a different island before then, but just wanted to see if the wizard worked or not.

My turnip price this afternoon confirmed a decreasing pattern for this week - I'll keep checking prices to see if that tool is right.

We should start a private discord for buying/selling turnips. I know people time travel and all that to get good prices as well.

I know it's not 604, but my Turnip price is 412 bells right now. Newer to this, so I don't have the fanciest island, but I'm working on it. Just reply or shoot me a message and I'll try to respond quickly

Grrr. I need to set up notifications for this thread- didn’t see your comment until now. Is it still high? Mine have an estimated 140-200 max this week.

Unfortunately I've had garbage prices since then. I started the notifications, but they took a couple days to kick in unfortunately

Have you been using any of the sites to track what your prices should be? Mine have been spot on since I started. Last 3 weeks have been on point. Tomorrow morning I should max out for the week at about 200.

Yeah, I just started doing that because my sister-in-law recommended it. It was spot on with limited data. It feels like cheating, but I don't care lol. No worse than working the real stock market

Anyone have any of the pinball tables or arcade cabinets and wanna trade? I have the fighter arcade cabinet and the baseball pinball machine and I want to build an arcade in my basement. Can buy more of each to trade.

I can drop off the rest of the tables and cabinets you need sometime tomorrow evening. I don't need anything in return.

I see these items in arcades a lot, if you need any of the following too, let me know.

Dartboard

Billiard Table (Green, Red, Blue)

Foosball Table (Brown, Dark Brown, Blue)

Tennis Table

Arcade Seat (Red, Grey, Blue)

That’d be pretty awesome. I don’t need ALL of that. I’d be interested in the arcade seat and any pinball or arcade cabinets you have. I can at least give you bells for them.

I now have:

-fighting arcade cabinet
-combat arcade cabinet
- diner end table and couch (looks awesome in the arcade)
-baseball pinball table

My brother has the billiards table and the mahjong cabinet so I’ll get those from him eventually.

Shoot I definitely have declining turnip prices this week and am about to lose a ton of bells. Anyone have decent prices?

I was having a "small peak" week, so I found someone who let me sell on their island for a couple Nook Miles Tickets. I downloaded an app called AC Life and people post when they have good Turnip prices or other things people want

Normally I don’t care about making money off turnips, as long as I break even. I had a few hundred thousand bells in turnips this week and really wanted to make money off them, if at least break even.

Went on reddit last night and very quickly got a couple invites. 300 and 600 bell turnips. Made 2.4 million off my turnips last night. :)

My turnips are 566 today. Shoot me a message if anyone needs to sell. As long as I see the message, I’ll get back to you and send an invite.

I'm thinking about letting Audie move off of my island. Would anyone here be interested in taking her?
I already have her, but if anyone was wondering, she's a pretty decent islander. Not my favorite, but she's pretty cool

She just never clicked with me. Plus, on my island she has basic furniture since she was one of my starters (when she moves she should get her proper house furniture theme).

My island will be dogs, Raymond, Marshal, Lolly, and hopefully someday, Dom. I have an amiibo chip so I'm currently moving in each dog villager until I get their picture. Then I'll decide who to keep permanently

If anyone wants Audie I can force her out with an Amiibo so she can be ready on whatever day you are (after Sunday), just let me know.

I officially have downward spiral on my turnips this week. If anyone has reasonable turnip prices by the end of the week, can you help me out?

I'll keep an eye out. It started off looking like a large spike week for me, but mine also turned into a downward week. If my wife gets a good price, I'll let you know
