I need an advice please, should I go with Nintendo switch or Switch lite?

Hello everyone,

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I need your help, I'm thinking about picking up a switch but I'm not sure which version to go with, I will list few things and based on those hope you guys could help me.

I'm going to use it mainly as a handheld even at home so I don't care about the docking station.

I like how the normal switch have a larger screen, but is the difference between screen sizes noticable between the two? and worth paying extra for the normal switch? I tried watching comparison videos but kinda didn't help since the videos I checked didn't show the same game running on both systems side by side to get a clear answer.

Which one have better battery life? I heard the newer switch systems have better battery than the switch lite is that true?

I know there are few games that don't run on the switch lite because of the removable controllers and I don't care about those games.

I know the switch is being out of stock in most stores, well I can get a switch lite for around $220-$230 if I wanted one now but honestly I don't mind waiting for the restock to happen if the normal switch is the better option for me, and this leads me to my next question anyone knows if there are any plans for any upcoming limited edition systems coming out later this year or next year be it normal switch or Switch lite?

Last question, now this is about a game I'm a huge fan of, Super Robot Wars games, I know there are few ones that are available on Playasia website, anyone knows if the Asian region versions of those comes with the English language option?

 I normally recommend getting the full Switch. Even if you only plan on using it docked just a couple times a year, at least you have the option.  The detachable joy-cons are also important from a reliability perspective.  If they start to drift, you will need to get them repaired. At least with the full switch, you can detach the joy cons and keep your main console at home. You could still play the switch if you wanted if the game has pro controller support while you wait for the joy cons to be repaired.   

I have not played the switch lite but from what I hear, the screen is warmer versus the full switch.  

Personally, I don't think the cost savings for the switch lite make the system more attractive vs the full switch.  I have had both iterations of the full switch and the newer model has about and hour to an hour and half more of battery life (3 hr vs 4.5 hours) vs the old model. 

Some games also need the detachable joy cons, if you don't plan on playing those, the switch lite will work just fine. 

I can't speak to the asian games and translations but at least the Switch is region free

Thank you Retroxcellence, I was hoping for more opinions from different people views, but I agree with you I like the original one since it have a larger screen, problem it's out of stock everywhere lol but I can wait, hopefully I can get a limited edition one lol. 

I agree with Retro on everything. The only thing I can say is the Lite feels more comfortable to me, but most everything else is better about the regular Switch especially the newer one with better battery. I wish I could add more but Retro said what I was going to.

The Switch Super Robot Wars games are available in English.  Make sure you buy the Asian and not Japanese version

If you're not going to play it docked, I'd definitely go with the Switch Lite.  The regular Switch is heavy and clunky, and the buttons feel off.  The Switch Lite is really comfortable in comparison.

So just an update, after everyone gave me good reasons to get the original Switch over the Switch lite, I was planning to wait for it to become available or some limited edition but just today I was able to pick a Switch lite in a nearby store with gift cards I got sometime ago, so basically I only paid about $80 for it  from my own pocket lol, as much as I would have loved to get the original one, a $80 brand new switch lite was very tempting lol.

Now I got another question, sorry if this sound kind of stupid but I have been out of the gaming world for few years now and just getting back into it, part of the reason is I kinda of want to start collecting physical copies of the games I like, so really I don't know how Nintendo do their thing with physical games now, but for games like Super Mario Odyssey, new super mario bros U, and few other Nintendo games are going for $59.99, I know there are current sales on the Eshop right now but I would much rather get physical copies, so how often games like those goes on sale? and if I wait long enough hoping for a sale will I regret it being hard to find games? Now of course I will keep an eye here with the video game deals, so will see what happens (I remember that was a nightmare with some 3DS few years ago lol) 

Nintendo 1st party games typically go on sale for $39.99 every type of holiday. Easter, July 4th, ect.
The games cycle which ones go on sale per holiday. Rarely they go under that price NEW. I think during Christmas there was a handful at $35/30.

Used you can get a slightly better deal if that doesn't bother you from like gamestop during their b2g1 type sales.

I don't think any 1st party games have gone out of print yet.

3rd party Nintendo games are different both in rarity & price. They can go really low at random or become hard to find. Depends on what game/publisher.
