I bought Beyond Good and Evil not to long ago and am getting really into it...I was wondering if anyone knew any other good action platformers for XBox or GC?...I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

Jak 2 is pretty awesome, and Rachet & Clank it supposed to be good as well, but I've never played any Rachet games.

well, I've had fun during the two hours I spent playing it. I havent finished it yet. I have never played Beyond Good and Evil, so I don't know how it compares. I am enjoying it

I think "action platformer" is kind of a weird category, not really sure what goes under it. I guess for the cube, Viewtiful Joe is really fun, but I don't know if its under the category...

On a side note, anyone else have a BG&E cube version sitting around that they're willing to trade me? :D

I have viewtiful and it just keeps pissing me off...i hate having to play from the beggining of a level when I was at the boss...there is no need for this...

You could try Voodoo Vince.

I'm near the end (I think) of it and it's nothing Earth-shattering, but not a bad game if you can find it cheap.

Some of the jumping sections can be pretty frustrating and the controls feel kind of clunky until you get the timing of the double jump down. (Wait too long and Vince kind of sighs and won't double, do it too early and you don't get the height or distance you sometimes need, but after playing for a bit the timing becomes natural.)

And the game has a tendency to have you jumping from platfrom to platform over a bottomless pit or water, so if you miss you die instantly. You also have to remember to float or it is near impossible to land on some of the smaller targets, as you can't really tell exactly what you are over without floating.

And some of the character models are just pretty bad looking. Especially for a game that is a 1st party effort exclusive to the Xbox.

But looking past that, the game is really pretty good. There is some pretty good humor in the cut scenes, and a few of the puzzles are pretty neat. Although some of the puzzles have the feeling of you just hunting all over the level until you come across an item you can pick up and then you simply carry it to where it is used. Simple find and fetch stuff.

If you can find it at Best Buy it should be $10, I'd snap it up at that price.

Oh and yeah BG+E is a great game, while it lasts. I'd imagine you've completed it by now unless you haven't had much time to game in the past couple days. Voodoo Vince seems like it's going to end up being about the same length (though not as good of a game)

Yeah, Voodoo Vince,at $10, is a prety damn good game. Good music, some good one liners, and some pretty cool side characters.

Sphinx and Prince of Persia are also some good picks. Sphinx is damn good....except theres no dialouge... POP im half-way through right now, and its really fun

I'm going to second the motion for Sphinx & the Cursed Mummy, and Prince of Persia. Eternal Darkness isn't a platformer, but is an action adventure title with the same premise of puzzle solving and defeating enemies. And without giving anything away, it has really cool effects too. The less you find out about it before playing it, the better.

And I know you asked for GC or XBox. But you can't talk about action platformers without including Ico, Ratchet, and Jak... which are for PS2. Those are probably 5 of the best ever in that genre.

I loved Beyond Good & Evil on the Xbox. Wish it would have sold better so we could have a sequel.

I played Prince of Persia right after that and enjoyed it a lot too. The graphics on the Xbox kick serious ass.

Glad to hear some people mention Sphinx & the Cursed Mummy. It looked good and I want to try it.

I got these both on the Cube and they rock. BG&E is one of my fav games ever now...got it on the PC too :) PoP is also good...

I added nothing, but I can't help but talk about BG&E...

Sphinx is fun, but compared to most rescent games, it has that one glaring flaw: no voice. Now i know that shouldnt ruin the game, but the characters lips move AND the do the motions...but there silent. If there was voice, someway to hear your heroes, i think it would have fared just as well as ratchet and Jak.

and as someone said above, Vexx is another good one to try. You can find it a some Targets clearanced to $10

Something I forgot to add: some people tend to believe Jak II is so difficult as to make the game suck. I've also heard the same about Vexx. I haven't played Vexx myself, but I have heard of it's reputation as a difficult platformer.

Do with that what you will.

Jak II is annoying. period. i REALLY like the first one, but the second wasnt nearly as good...it basically went in the opposite direction of R&C.
