Is it just me, or is this game extremely un-optimized?
I mean I don't have the best setup, but I do run a 8700k 1080 TI 16 GB ddr4 3200 SSD and I was loading into D-Day and I was running all settings on epic, hitting a massive 35-40 FPS, clunky, choppy and it didn't end there. Hitting escape to the menu was just as bad if not worse.
The graphics even look like I'm playing on low-med settings.
Anyone have any ideas?

Well you're a bit over the recommended specs for cpu/gpu and you've got the ram.
For some reason recommended seems to/usually means 1080p60 and probably doesn't mean highest possible settings either.
Also it's early access and 'System Requirements subject to change as development continues'
Not sure about this game but I remember Kingdom Come: Deliverance had a set of settings that said it was intended for future hardware and probably wouldn't work well, and it still didn't look great
