GameFly: Used "The Last of Us 2" (PS4) $30

Save your money, game is not as good as everyone raved about. Also trades for $33 at GS.
I rate the first one a 10/10, I rate part II 6.5/10, and it's only that high because of solid gameplay. The story is a mess, and the way they treat the two characters we fell in love with in the first one is unforgiveable in this one.

$30 is a good price if you're itching to play something right now but if you wait, just like with almost every other first party Playstation game...you can eventually get it for $10-$15.

The game makes decisions. Some absolutely love the game and where they went, others don't enjoy where they went with the story. Some were truly disappointed and others thought it was a damn masterpiece. It's truly up to you to decide. I know it's 2020 and many like to make their decisions based off what a guy on Youtube told them but I believe it's absolutely a game that's worth playing.

Personally, I can get past playing a game that I don't enjoy much. I can always stop playing the game halfway through if I have to, sell it and recoup most of the cost. But missing out on something I may consider a masterful game? Worth the risk IMO.

I rented. Loved the gameplay and graphics and just skipped what I could of the story because it was terrible. Worth it though if you’re gonna like the story or overlook it

Great deal.  Game was awesome although many parts I disagreed with.  Probably the most polarizing game of all time and that doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a shot.

It was a great game people are just not used to something this different. I’m actually glad they didn’t just give us a fan service. They weren’t disrespectful to the characters either. If you watch their interview then you’d understand. What I had a problem with was the pacing. I thought this had more of a story than the first. The first game was more fun though cuz it felt more like an adventure

I feel like they should have split the game up into two different version like Pokemon Sword/Shield but with the main campaign fleshing out each side a bit more and not swapping back and forth so much.

Overall I still enjoyed going back to the world even if I didn't think the "main" story progressed at all (a cure!)

They did disrepect them. I can't figure out how to make spoilers so I please do not read further if you haven't played the game.

Joel did not trust people in the first one yet in the second one he just trusted these people he didn't know and even said "we have a camp with supplies a few miles from here". Wasn't true to his character,. Ellie spent all this time trying to get revenge then didn't in the end. Abby was a terrible character we had to spend 12 hours with who was a piece of crap who cheated with her ex boyfriend who had a pregnant girlfriend. Jesse was a cool new character, they killed him never mentioned him again even though he was the father of Dinas baby. Speaking of babys two times they had pregnant women go put their babys in danger in a zombie apocalypse. Tommy was probably the bad guy of the game and it made no sense that he didn't go with Ellie putting her on danger. Abby never even told Ellie why she killed Joel. Just so idiotic on so many levels I can't even. The story was a disaster. I cant even believe it's the same person who wrote the first one. You don't have to do a fan service, but that doesn't mean this was a good story. I can't fathom anyone that pays attention to details would like this story. If you don't pay attention to details maybe.

Another of a million stupid things. Part 1 had to do with Ellie being the cure, it was hardly a part of ii because the writer wanted us to like Abby so much.

I have such a bad memory that they can do whatever and I wouldn't notice it being weird

I for one didn't like the first last of us after the stories of misconduct of ellie degeneres but musical guest billie joel was a great..whatever I got tired of my own bullshit and got spoilers when googling the characters names to make sure cause I forgot.

I see TLoU Part 2 and automatically expect it to be filled with the cries of angry nerds shouting "REEE SOMETHING SOMETHING LIBERAL AGENDA TERRIBLE GAME REEE"

Glad to see you kids didn't disappoint.

Thanks for your lazy political point of view with no perspective at all. My reasons had nothing to do with politcs. While you just cried "ANTI LIBERAL". I didn't know Hollywood which is totally liberal couldn't make a bad movie. Just a dumb lazy perspective you should be ashamed. But ignorant people have no shame, it's part of who they are.

You're trying to dumb it down to derrrrrrr anti liberal nope counter my points of view of the game, or your post is a waste of time. I'm hoping you've even played it because if you haven't you really have no say at all.

This is a video game and the goal is for the story to be good, not PRO LIBERAL. Good or bad stories don't involve politics so try again. If this page was filled with homophonic statements you would have a point. Reality is there hasn't been one thing said about anyone's sexuality in the game. Everyone who played Left Behind DLC of the first one knew Ellie was gay, NO ONE CARED. Proof that it's not about politics, it's about good stories vs bad stories. This was a BAD STORY. And the same writer wrote the first one and the second one. When you have plot holes, characters not being true to themselves from previous games and a terrible ending you fucked up you don't get to blame it on LIBERAL AGENDA TERRIBLE GAME REEE.

Not going to discuss the questionable story bits.  Jayinem above did a good job of some things.

A couple other problems is that there is way more story and walking simulator moments in this game compared to the first. It makes subsequent playthroughs a little bit of slog. Abby's opening chapter bits are incredibly slow. No one gives a shit about Owen showing her the Aquarium.

Also the ending location was completely rushed. No explanation of a lot of things. Nice change in environment and looks great though. I will say the final "event" was pretty terrible. Unrealistic, drawn out. It's one of the games where I like it and don't at the same time. Some of Ellies choices in this game are dumb and that's the writers fault. I noticed in interviews since release no one asked Druckmann any tough questions about the characters and such. Gameplay is good, just wish there were more minute to minute shootouts.

Oh, and turn off the film grain. Looks a lot better now.

Thank goodness this stinker wasn’t the exclusive the PS4 ended on and Ghost of Tsushima was. One of the biggest disappointments in gaming for me all time. Druckmann has lost his mind.

Last of Us 2 is going to sell waaaayyy more than Ghost but I’m every poll I’ve seen between which game people liked more Ghost absolutely obliterates TLOU2 by a long shot.

I spent nearly 50 hours into Ghost, it is probably my GOTY. To be fair it's kind of a down year for me it's not an all time great game or anything, but it's really solid.

TLOU2 had a great launch but sales fell off a cliff. My store hasn't sold a single copy in over a month. Ghost continues to sell out and get restocked.

Have they released updated sales for TLOU2? All I ever see is like that opening week sales.

But yeah Naughty Dog went from a top 3 developer for me to “I’m very skeptical about their next game”

Regardless of what anybody thinks of the game it is a huge hit. it is #3 grossing game for Playstation in U.S. history. Only topped by Spider-man and God of War.  It is also #3 for the year of any console or PC.

I heard the negativity but I wasn't going to let it stop me from getting the game at launch. I should have listened to the negativity. But even though the story was a disaster IMO, I don't regret playing through it. There was just no way I could picture myself not playing through the sequel to the Last of Us.
