Still only BB info so far.

I just made some minor updates to the spreadsheet. Left the "All Games" sheet intact, but then added separate sheets by system. Also removed the MSRP games that were added.

If there are people that want help learning how to work in google sheets let me know. As this fills up I'll usually make a copy and then apply a bunch of filters and delete things until I get down to my personal shopping list.

I wanna know what Walmart and BB is offering.

Wonder if Amazon will price match.

Typically Amazon price matches, but only as lightning deals that are somewhat annoying to get. Even without GCU BB has been my go to for the last few black fridays.

Also I was just bored and added accessories.

Isn't Trials of Mana $20 on PS4 for Best Buy? I thought that one was there but doesn't seem to be on the site now.

I feel like Best buy never has any of these advertised games in actual stock.  I tried to buy a few games past years, either they never had any in stock in the store or was sold out online.

The Trials of Mana listed for $19.99 in the ad is the Switch version. Very likely the PS4 will be on sale too, but not officially listed.

Maybe someone can help me think this through but is anyone else confused on their buying plans? I have a PS4 slim right now but I plan on getting a Series X in a couple years when it (inevitably I hope) goes on sale. I see a lot of games from this gen that I'd like to buy but do you think I should get them on Xbox One instead? That way they would be forward compatible with the Series X and would probably get small upgrades when I play them there. It seems kind of counterintuitive and I'm not sure it makes sense. I already have a PS4 backlog so I'm not too worried about that but just thought I would get some opinions from you guys.

I would rethink your strategy because it sounds awfully confusing.

Why exactly a Series X over PS5 for one?  You said you already have PS5 games and if you're planning on buying a disc based system,   both are providing almost complete BC with current gen.  As another poster said, why would you buy Series X games now without the console?  Also, given how Xbox is generally disinterested in encouraging disc-based media (see Game Pass), those printed titles on Xbox will probably drop fast so better to wait and get them cheaper down the road.  On the same note, Sony seems more inclined to keep disc-based games going so if you prefer disc-based BC, Sony may make more sense.

Also keep in mind that Xbox BC means downloading the whole game onto your HD.  It doesn't play the game off the disc.  The BC disc just authenticates your ability to download it.  This does mean a lot of HD space can get taken up rather quickly.  The PS5, as I understand, runs PS4 BC off the disc.

I don't think this is the case for Xbox One games. Looking at this article, they would work as they do now, installing from the disc to the hard drive unless there is an enhanced version available for the Series X. It's guaranteed it will be as you describe for original and 360 games, though.

Also, PS4 games that run off disc are exceedingly rare. Most games install all their data to the hard drive, and only use the disc as authentication, so HDD space will always be an issue. It's just that you won't have to redownload all of the game when using disc-based installs if you decide to delete one of them, although you'll definitely have to grab the (often large) patches.

Sorry, I meant Xbox 360/OG games.  I suppose I thought Xbox One games might go the same route when Series X eventually drops Xbox One, which I figured would happen by the time the poster stated he was going to buy it - two years from now.  I just can't see Microsoft still supporting Xbox One at that point.

I think there’s about 10 PS4 games or fewer that WONT work on the ps5. Most recently Ubisoft said the only mainline assassins creed that won’t work is syndicate

And then it was pulled citing misinformation. Beggars the question of whom is misinformed, or what exactly is the criteria Sony is pushing to qualify as “compatible”. I have to imagine online play may not be considered when it comes to backwards compatibility, so compatible may mean just SP.

PS4 to PS5 and X1 to XSX are going to be almost completely BC. All 4 systems use custom AMD APUs that are running X86 architecture like a PC. To oversimplify and give a mediocre analogy, this new generation is like upgrading your CPU/GPU/RAM while keeping the same motherboard/case.

The previous generation (360/PS3) used custom built processors (IBM Xenon/Sony Cell) that make BC (and porting to PC) more difficult. Current/Next gen use customized PC parts that make BC/Porting easy.

This is the oversimplified explanation?

Was there any good Switch deals last Black Friday?

I'm looking into getting one. Of course there's the screen protector and, there must be other necessities. Primarily, will be used on the tv.

A cousin wants Pokemon Sword & Shield. I told him I would join if he gets them.

There's already some goodies in next week's Wally World ad.

Thank you again for this spreadsheet!

Last year they did a bundle with Mario Kart 8 and the old version of the system. This year they're doing the same bundle, but I didn't see verification on which model switch will be bundled yet.

I miss the days when the CAG forum was all you needed. Now most of the big deals get posted to social media and sell out so fast.

Sorry if this is mean, but I literally answered this 2 posts before yours. Right now there's one ad in the wild and everything from it is on the spreadsheet.

If you're looking for new deals unrelated to black friday I highly recommend following CAG on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. They do a much better job of grabbing new deals than a handful of nerds waiting to type out BF ads when they hit.

BB has a similar bundle to last year where it has MK8Deluxe - but this time comes with 3 months of NSO.

All for $300.

According to the Best But website the bundle number starts with HAD, which from what I could find on google is the newer version. If anyone is a Nintendo model number expert please correct me.

Can you let me know once the model is confirmed? Thank you so much

I'm going to buy the latest model regardless of whether a new one comes out next year.

FYI many 4K movies and steel books are on sale now for $15 and under at Best Buy. Sonic got a restock and 1917, Knives Out, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood are all included. Birds of Prey being a highlight for $8.
