I hadn't pre-ordered the game yet, and a week to 10 days ago I saw an offer... get the digital version of Cyberpunk 2077 from NewEgg for Xbox One at $49.99.  I prefer getting my games digitally, and didn't figure there would be a better deal for a while... so I placed an order.  (While I haven't used Newegg a lot recently, I've shopped there for years and can't remember any issues with them before.)

While the code didn't come to me right away, earlier today the buzz was mounting with the game launch coming soon... and I went out to NewEgg's site.  Looking up my order, the code was there.  But when I clicked the "Redeem A Code" link in the email, and entered the code on the MS website... it said the code was invalid, and to contact whoever I'd gotten it from.

I figured NewEgg wouldn't have representatives available at midnight tonight, so I got on their chat app, and explained the situation to the CS rep.  They had me email my original email from NewEgg with the code, back to one of their customer service reps, and attach the error message I was getting from the MS site.  I did that, and they indicated they'd look into it, and be in touch in about 24 hours.  I wasn't unhappy with the customer service rep, they were just trying to help... which I appreciated.  But it's now past 8pm on the west coast, the code still isn't working on MS site, and I'm stuck in hurry up and wait mode.

I guess the moral of the story is don't buy game codes online.  But has anyone else got a digital code for Cyberpunk 2077 from Newegg?  Is your code working?  It DOES say in the email to use the code on 12/10/20, and I understand I wouldn't have been able to play the game early just because I got my code in advance.  But I WOULD have liked to download and install the game, the way so many of us have in the past... rather than wait till midnight when things are at their busiest, and THEN enter the code and have to start the download.  As it stands, I'm not really expecting the code is going to work at all, and that's really frustrating.  :(
