So bunch of theories floating around as to why the Quest 2 is going up in price.
For my money, I think it's because of the Facebook account mandate going away (less money to be made from selling info of users) and the fact that Quest 2 has made waves in the VR market and is still cheaper than the competition at the new price point.
As for whether or not the move will allow them to dump more money into VR, I'm skeptical.

And they've generally succeeded in having them having the adoption rate. They probably feel like they've cornered the market for now and can demand the price (as further evidenced by the points you've made, especially since their price will still be cheap in the space).
Facebook's (Meta) ultimate goal as a corporation is to be the only big VR game in town. Just because they're a corporation makes that the case.

Saw this on reddit. Get République VR on quest for free by getting the free rift version than get the quest version via crossbuy.
