Goddam, Oculus is killing me with this sale. Normally, they're so stingy, but this has been pretty good.

I need some advice/help. I recently let a friend try out psvr for the first time. He has a PS4 but never tried the VR. Long story short, he absolutely loved it. He wanted to get it but when you started looking into VR, he is now wanting the quest 2 because it is newer and more powerful and no wires. I briefly played some Half-Life alyx and a roller coaster game on my uncle's Quest 2 and I loved how easy it was to setup and use.

Now the problem is it all comes down to games which I told him some of the games that he played on psvr are not on Quest 2. He keeps going on and on about technical stuff and I keep reminding him that he can't play PS Worlds, Blood and Truth, Ironman and some other exclusives. Are there any comparable games to the ones I mentioned on quest 2?

Videos and articles have convinced him that quest 2 is better and I told him that yes, tech wise it is but when it comes to games, he needs to be okay with not being able to play most of the games he did on my PSVR. He doesn't want to wait for psvr 2 since he has no idea when it will come out and how much it will cost.

So what are some comparable games to the ones that he likes? Are there even any?

My brother is about to get a Quest 2, his first VR headset, and I was wondering:

-Is it better to buy through the Oculus store, Steam, or just whichever has the lowest price?

-Does Air Link work well with Steam or do you need Virtual Desktop?

If he has a beefy pc good enough to handle VR gaming and doesn't plan to use the oculus away from home, buying on steam or rift store with compatible games is fine and may well offer better graphics and performance. If the computer is iffy or he plans to take the oculus to show friends or what-not, sticking to the oculus store is a better option. I haven't noticed much difference in air link or virtual desktop. Both work fine for me.

As far as games comparable to the psvr titles  mentioned by Freeze Time, this is supposed to come out soon and may provide a superhero fix and Ritchie's Plank Experience has a mode in which you fly around being heroic and is one of the most fun experiences to introduce newcomers to vr. Neither of these games seems as fleshed out as Iron Man, though. I haven't seen any one game that compares to PS Worlds similar experiences can be pieced together with several titles, but I am not aware of a great match on oculus. Onward and Phantom: Covert Ops are good action /shooter games I've played. I love Superhot VR. Did he play that on psvr? While he might not find those exact games, between oculus and steam there is a wide variety of quality vr games in most any genre.

If you're planning on getting games that are native to the Quest, you'll need to buy through the Oculus store. Some PC-based VR games (or Rift games, if you prefer) are exclusive to the Oculus store as well, and many can only be bought on Steam. I like the Oculus store better in terms of convenience (they also often support cross-buy between the Quest and Rift versions) but am happy to use both side by side as well.
