Got Dying Light 2. Sifu drops this week so if that's included in this as well I'll get it. I wished Horizon Zero Dawn and Elden Ring had been included.

Really wished best buy would get with the picture. I can't recall the years since they had a b2g1f on games.
This kind of sale has to be a money loser just like GCU was. I imagine they decided it wasn't worth it anymore to get people in the store. Just be glad Target can somehow make it work for them.

Too bad Arceus isn't b2g1 at Amazon, but still the Target deal is good.

Indeed. Every game I buy I intend to play. They're being opened. I'm sure that gives some folks here the shudders.
Seriously, might as well just throw them in the trash. Look at the difference in value between a sealed Mario Bros, and an open one. You could be opening a rare variant or a first print of the games you just purchased, wouldn’t you rather be a millionaire?

Doesn't work that way. Target B2G1 takes the lowest priced game, divides it by 3, and deducts that from each game. In your example, the cheapest game being $15 would mean each game is reduced by only $5. With three $60 games, each game would be reduced by $20.
Thats actually not how it works. If you bought a 60, 15 and 15 dollar game it would not take $5 off each game. It would spread the $15 freebie across the 3 games in a prorated fashion. The total would be $90 before the discount. The $60 game is 66% of the $90 so it would get discounted by 66% of $15 = $10. Each of the $15 games would get discounted by 16.5% of $15 = $2.50 each.
Taking out the math, the more expensive game gets a proportionately larger discount than the cheaper games. Having said that, as you referenced the best discount is always to match 3 of the same price games.

I tried this, gift card was returned to account. If you buy 3 games with gift cards and cancel 2, does the gift card balance just go back to the account?

Having a helluva time finding anything. I am 99% digital on switch. Have Gamepass ultimate so no Xbox exclusives I need.
Only thing I really buy physical games for is PS5. Was thinking about rebuying ratchet (already platinumed and played through twice), ghosts DC (have standard PS4 version) but would need a third $50 game. Wish I could find returnal for 50 bucks somewhere so I could price match.
Even with that I’m talking about rebuying a game I’ve finished twice and a game I could just pay for upgrade.

Well damn, I just figured before this sale started that Switch games wouldn't work, and especially not a new release like Arceus.
Now, what to get... I already got Arceus, so that obvious one is out. I don't have Metroid, so I guess that's one. Zelda Skyward Sword I guess? And Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury? In my past CAG life I would have had all those games already but mostly my son plays these things now, not me. He doesn't want any of the sports games (ones that I would have automatically bought 10 years ago).
We still have Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario, Mario 3D All-Stars, and a few others sitting on a shelf unopened, though, and I'm not even sure he will get to those let alone any new ones. He doesn't play Zelda games so I don't see that one getting played any time soon (I still have to finish Breath of the Wild myself). Or maybe I get Bravely Default II?
By the way, I know I've been out of the loop, but wasn't Mario 3D All-Stars some sort of limited release? Why is it in stock? Sucks that I bought it for $50 from Amazon when I thought it was limited .
Edit: Went with Metroid, Super Mario 3D World, and Zelda Skyward Sword. $38 per game - not too shabby.

Thinking of going back in for 3 PS4/PS5 games but my CAG instincts are telling me I will be able to get all of these (especially the latter 2) much cheaper later:
Sekiro (since I've been playing Bloodborne finally just this week), Spider-Man, and Ratchet. Would be $33 each - still too high though. Nintendo wins in that I know all 3 of those Switch games that I got are unlikely, if ever, to be less than $50 MSRP. (And no, I'm not gonna mess with any price match stuff)

I have no doubts its probably been out of print by now, but it's a Mario game... I also highly doubt a low number of them were made. Probably no more than Nintendo normally prints of a game tbh.
Yeah, I let Nintendo's fake scarcity FOMO get me on that one. Still, if I hadn't gotten it already, I'd definitely have done it now.
Also: totally forgot about the Target Circle $15 bonus thing. I'm pretty sure I activated it when I first got the email at least. So this will count for one purchase. Just need to go in store and buy some household stuff we need anyway and then I'll count that $15 off for my games!

You're right. I linked my earlier post to yours so everyone gets the math right.
This is also how gift cards and Circle points are distributed. I prefer not to use them on b2g1 cancellations since I don't want to monitor partial refunds.

This is literally what I was thinking and ended up doing... looked at quite a few PS4 games but every game I've purchased has been NS games. Hell, I bought games I prob won't play but did so because it feels like the NS is a FOMO console.

A copy of the new Arceus game for $40? I'm in.
Posted 07 February 2022 - 03:26 PM
I got the deal but had some issues finding 3 games I wanted at decent prices. I've heard over in the walmart thread some of the games out now I'm interested in hitting clearance prices so I held off on some games. Not to mention my backlog is crazy right now.
Wanted to take advantage of less than the $50 that Arceus would be at Walmart instore though so I wound up here. Didn't get the "FULL" savings because the games varied in price, but whatever.
- Arceus Legends $59.99
- Bugsnax Physical PS5 $39.99
- Kena Bridge of Spirits PS5 $49.99
The Two PS5 games are ones that don't seem to be cheap right now secondhand, not many on Ebay/FB Marketplace/Mercari, So I stuck with em.
Did the following to get the price down to like $72 from $116 after tax to make it feel like I was getting a steal.
- Redeemed 16$ in honey gold I didn't know I had
- 5$ off Target Circle from buying my ps5 from them
- 25$ Gift card via microsoft rewards from points I was hording.
All in all I'm happy

I think for a lot of people here trying to save a few bucks in the most convoluted manner possible is the game.
it's pretty straightforward unless you're trying to convice a rep to stack price matching with the b2g1 sale
