Analogue Super NT and Mega SG up for final run of preorders

samnite

CAGiversary!
https://store.analogue.co/

$200 each with shipping being around $40

These are FPGA (emulate the hardware for SNES and Sega Genesis) consoles able to play original cartridges or be modded to play roms off of an SD Card.

I searched the forums and couldn't find an analogue thread so I apologize if there is a different place to post this information.

Be aware that you will not receive anything until the end of 2023 most likely as Analogue is extremely slow with manufacturing and shipping.

Also be aware that the Analogue pocket can now run SNES and Genesis games so that product plus the dock might be a better value if you don't intend to use original cartridges.

Eh I think these will hold their value better. Pocket + dock is almost 3/4 the price of buying both systems, and currently no way to use original SNES/Genesis controllers on the pocket dock. I have all 3 but got the consoles used on eBay for way under retail price.

How long will this be up?

Do you need an adapter to run SNES games? I'm confused because the product details says it just plays GB, GBC and GBA.

I have the Mega SG and let me tell you it works great. Everdrive and homebrew and the games look damn good on a modern TV

They haven't indicated a specific date the preorders will close but they fulfill orders based on time so if you do want it then ordering earlier is better given the long delay from order to delivery (over a year). For instance, I am still waiting for my Analogue Pocket that I ordered in December 2021. Granted, they did indicate that I wouldn't get it until 2023 before I ordered so I knew what I was getting into by ordering it. On the positive side, they did recently announce that they were ahead of schedule on Pocket orders so I might get mine sooner.

wow they are still in stock 3 hours later. Either they made a lot of them, or people werent really as interested in this product.
Well, the system really wasn't a mainstream success by any measure.

I loved my TG16, TurboCD, and my TurboExpress. Sadly all my games are long gone, so not much motivation to buy this. I was always curious about the SuperGrafx, but even if this ran those too... still no carts. Oh, and previous analogue systems were $50 less, right? Bad system to raise the price with.

I mean, I got one, but I also have close to 20 games between both systems and a turbo everdrive, but this clearly isn't a mass market system like the others, for sure

Out of curiousity, has anyone gotten an update on their Super NT and Mega SG orders from October?

Super Nt and Mega Sg are available to preorder for a limited time. This will be the final production run. If you have a currently open pre-order or you place an order today it will ship in Q2 2023.

There are no differences between this Super Nt and Mega Sg production run and previous production runs.

Before shipping your order, we will email you one week in advance to ensure we have an up-to-date shipping address. You may cancel your order at any time for a full refund before shipment.

So you’re a no then, right? That would have been fine. I was asking because I had a foul up with my email address and wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
I guess my follow up would be what constitutes Q2. Normal calendar year would mean the end of June?

No updates from them via email for me but that is not unusual for Analogue. My Analogue Pocket took over a year to arrive from when I made my preorder so I have low expectations of getting it before October of this year. I would presume Q2 ends after June but am not going to hold my breath waiting for it to arrive by then.

How do you like the pocket? I'm debating between that vs getting one of the numerous ROM only handhelds.

Honestly, if you don't already own a bunch of original carts or don't mind not having a 1600x1440 screen then you might be better off with one of the Chinese emulation handhelds. The cost and 1+ year-long wait (if you don't go the ebay route) also are negatives. The Analogue Pocket is capable of playing roms now though so you wouldn't need to carry around a bunch of your carts if you go the rom route.

I got one more because I wanted to see the difference of FPGA emulation vs software emulation and because I have unwittingly become a handheld hardware collector.

I do have a bunch of GB/C/A games and I've got a hacked Vita which can do pretty much everything the Analogue Pocket can do outside of playing the actual carts. But still, something about playing Nintendo games on a PS layout just feels wrong to me. And I also think the screen the Pocket is better designed for GB/C/A games vs the Vita's screen.

Have you considered getting an IPS screen modded GBA? There are some talented people on ETSY. I was able to get a Zelda gold Triforce logo GBA with modded IPS screen for about $200. If you pair it with an everdrive then you pretty much get the same experience as an Analogue Pocket except for the AP's screen being higher resolution (not that big a deal for these retro games on a small screen imo).

Here is the seller I used on ETSY but you can find several like him:

Finally an update!

Mega Sg and Super Nt Preorders Shipping
Jun 12. 2023
Mega Sg preorders will begin shipping the week of June 19th.

Super Nt orders will begin shipping the week of June 26.

If you ordered a Mega Sg and a Super Nt, your order will ship the week of June 26th.

Emails will be sent to everyone who has preordered a Mega Sg shortly and Super Nts (June 19th) in case you need to change your delivery address.

I got a preparing to ship email on the 19th and nothing since. I ordered both systems though, so maybe that is the delay. My order status just shows confirmed still.
Anyone else is experiencing the same thing or has been lucky enough to received their orders?

I ordered both the Super NT and Mega SG on 10/28/2022 and they arrived today 7/14/2023 about 8.5 months later. This is a better turnaround time than my Analogue Pocket that took over 1 year to arrive after purchase. I never owned a Super Nintendo growing up (parents bought the Sega Genesis) so in a way I am fulfilling a childhood wish lol.

We also had the genesis growing up. I ended up getting the mega sg and super nt within a couple weeks on eBay. Mega sg came with cartridge adapters and 6 games for $150 and super nt for $140 with an 8bitdo controller. Fall 2021 was a good time to buy I guess.

These look cool. I just wish there was something like it that used cables for CRT TVs instead of HDMI. I love the look of emulated games on a true CRT TV - software filters never seem to look quite as good.

Right now, I'm using my Wii for that, and it works decently, but has a bunch of downsides that a newer machine could fix. Things like emulators being unable to unzip 7zip games if the file size is too large, for example, presumably due to the Wii's limited RAM.

Same. Though having a Genesis was cool. Nearly all of my buddies had one too so bringing over games was a breeze. I can only think of one good friend who had a SNES. The only downside is now - collecting CIB is easier for Genesis than SNES titles.

I put in an Amazon order for the 8bitDO controllers for each system along with microsd cards yesterday. I probably should have gone the ebay route but didn't want to deal with a 3rd party seller. I was more engrossed in the Chinese emulator scene than Analogue back in 2021. I think the Chinese handhelds have become somewhat stagnant in technological advancements now though if focusing on the budget devices.

I ended up just playing all the fighting games on Genesis (Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter 2, Eternal Champions, etc). I wasn't really good enough to beat the other types of games back then. I gravitated more towards PC gaming with the RTS games being big in the mid 90s as I got older.

Probably gonna have to pre-order one of those Duos.  Any idea when I need to pre-order by?  My wallet wants me to wait a few weeks.
