Best Podcast?

SpeedyG

CAGiversary!
What podcasts does everyone out there listen to on a regular basis? Me personally, thrilled to have my Lex And Terry Everyday, I so missed hearing who's more pathetic.
Just CAGcast. Don't know of any others, but to me it's the best hands down.
Argh..... Forgot CAGcast... ok so two.
FYI, we are planning on recording a Tokyo Game Show CAGcast this weekend.
Kosherness!!
What do they talk about on mugglecast anyways? I mean besides form Harry Potter
Is that the one on muggle.net? Cause if it is, I know the guy who does that. He lives on the floor above me, and is actually a pretty cool guy. I thought that he would be all conceeded and everything since thats like the most popular Harry Potter site on the internet, but he's not.

cool, hope you can rope in some interesting guest panelists :)

CAGcast, the reason i joined this forums.

videogamenews radio, some older gamers who are funny and entertaining to listen to.

gamestation radio, more rpg oriented and has entertaining and funny host.
This week in tech
cagcast
I've heard of This Week In Tech, but don't know it's site or where to get it. How is it by the way? Any good?

Anyone got any new suggestions? I'm grabbing the new Ricky Gervais podcast show right now - 12 episodes and they are supposed to be pretty funny. 2 are available for DL now...

I listen to the following each week:

Gaming Podcasts:

CAGcast (of course)

Orange Lounge Radio To Go Edition (It's a pretty good video game talkshow, but the girl can get really annoying)

The Video Games Show (Probably my favorite video game news podcast. Very mainstream gamers that generally know what they are talking about)

Major Nelson's Podcast (Xbox Podcast, sometimes this is good, sometimes Major Nelson comes off as a pompous ass)

Dreamstation.cc (poor audio quality, but generally pretty funny)

GameShout Radio Reviews (good reviews, but a little overproduced)

GoNintendo (An excellent Nintendo only podcast. Very well done)

1UP.com (This one's okay, nothing great)

Gaming Steve (A very good insider take on the industry with a lot of depth in the news and some business aspects)

Some gaming ones to stay away from:
G4 - G4TV.com (This one is probably dead now anyway)
8bitmemories (Absolutely horrible look backs at old games)
GameSpot's Hotspot (ugh, this one is beyond annoying)
PS3 Countdown (boring)

Non-Gaming Podcasts I listen to:

TWIT (This Week In Tech) - Probably the best Podcast out there
Diggnation - Kevin Rose's Digg.com podcast
Coverville - A music show entirely dedicated to bands doing cover songs (these are actual bands you've heard of though, not no-names)
Roger & Ebert - yeah, you can figure out what this one is
KFI's Tech Guy - Leo Laporte's radio show

Those are the majority of the ones I listen to.

Awesome post. Thanks - I will be checking these out for sure...

Ricky Gervais = one of the funniest people around right now. Where are you getting that podcast from?

Just got this show, and its great. Also check out http://www.xfm.co.uk//Sectional.asp?id=1409 for the old show

Anybody have more tips on podcasts from people? I am bored at work, and the Itunes browse method is filled with too much crap.

It's free from the Apple iTunes Store. It is one of the funniest things I've ever heard and I'm only on Episode #4 (there are 7 available). People must think I'm insane on the train in the morning because I'm just laughing to myself. He is the funniest man in the world right now.

I don't listen to any podcasts but I always stay about a week behind and keep captured episodes of Loveline and The Adam Carolla Show on my mp3 player.

I know this thread is slightly old, but thought it could use a bump. What are some other good internet radio shows?

I listen to...

Gaming:
I guess CAGcast
Gamers with Jobs- http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/ - I enjoy this one. Comes out just about every week. Two guys sitting around talking about video games.
Kojima Productions Report- http://www.blog.konami.jp/gs/hideoblog_e/ - Pretty short show with little shhhnippets about MGS development. I find Ken to be funny.
Gaming Steve- http://www.gamingsteve.com/ - Good show. His voice is kind of high pitched, but good stuff.
Video Games News Radio- http://gaming-news.info/modules/news/ - meh, the actually sunday recorded show are decent

Misc. Internet Radio Shows:
Nobody Likes Onions- http://www.nobodylikesonions.com/nlo/ - This is my favorite right now. It is funny as hell. I would start from watching the 1st episodes so you know how the people are and how the show developed. It's basically just two guys talking about random stuff. They do cross some racial boundaries witth their comments that people may not like. But it is still funny as hell.

I listen to CAGcast and NPR podcasts, which are just reruns of the broadcasted shows. I also buy episodes of "This American Life" through Itunes because it's worth every penny.

can you link me to NPR? I love their radio show, but wished this american life was free... it's such a good show, but I'm too cheap.

I listen to three weekly podcasts: CAGcast (obviously), Radio Clash (for all the mash-up goodness), and, more recently, GoNintendo.
www.dl.tv

A very good technology video podcast and they support a lot of file formats to download.
Nice...thanks for the link. The names sound familiar from the TWiT Podcast so this should be a good watch.

Forgive the novice question, but how do I pull up the older episodes in iTunes? When I subscribe, it only shows Episode 41 as well as if I go to click for more info in the Podcast directory. Was 41 the first episode and it's just a matter of different numbering?

Generally speaking for other Podcasts, iTunes pretty much lists all the shows right? No need to go through extra hoops to find older episodes?

I don't know since I don't use iTunes, but you can send them an e-mail to [email protected] and see if they can find out what's wrong.

I've got all the basics (TWIT, Cagcast) plus:

ESPN: PTI
Gonzo In the Morning
NBC News: Meet the Press
Real Time w/ Bill Maher
CBS News: Face the Nation

And I am on the ropes right now as to whether or not to buy a Premium Membership ($4.95/month) for The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly. 2 Hours of Bill a day sounds pretty good at the price.

(Note: Not trying to make this a right/left wing debate, just like to hear both sides)

I have a long commute to work so I tend to listen to a lot of podcasts that vary in quality. I've noticed that most podcasts have one person with an annoying voice.

Video Game Podcasts (besides CagCast)
--------------------

The best podcast about the video game industry
http://www.gdcradio.net/gamasutra_podcast/
formerly known as http://fatpixelsradio.com/
They get a panel together to discuss specific topics every two weeks and they plan on putting GDC Radio Archives in between, which will include lectures, tutorials, and roundtables from this and previous years' Game Developers Conference in the other weeks.

ChatterBox Video Game Radio - radio show in AZ
http://www.chatterboxgameshow.com/
Discusses news & reviews
About 45min

4cr - A bunch of guys talking about current news/reviews/ & comic books
http://www.4colorrebellion.com/ About 45min
I think Cheapy D made a reference about this one in one of the CagCasts

IGN also has a podcast which varies each week, sometimes PC,Console, Game reviews, previews. It's usually only 25 min.

Technology Podcasts
--------------------
http://thisweekintech.com/
It has Leo and some people from zdnet/G4 About 1hr

http://revision3.com/diggnation
The podcast has Kevin formally of G4 it talks about stories found on the
http://www.digg.com/ - blog About 1hr
They drink while the do the show.

Daily Giz Wiz
http://twit.tv/dgw1
It's Leo Leport and Dick DeBartolo (a writer for Mad magazine) talking about 1 gadget a day. Most of it is them just shooting the shit talking about old times.
About 10 min

http://www.engadget.com/ - I stopped listening to this because every other word was "Ummmm" but I llike the blog

Entertainment Podcasts
------------
Official Lost podcast
http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/podcasts/102005.html

Ebert & Roeper
Have a movie review podcast

I used to listen to a bunch of video game podcasts, pretty much everyone I could find. I've recently cut it down to 2-3 when MajorNelson turned into a total and complete shill ("Yeah I'm totally digging 'The Outfit'" he says the same week all the bad reviews came out) and Gamerswithjobs went under.

These days it's CAG, the IGN podcasts are surprisingly well produced and the 1up stuff has got me in it's grip. I hate their website, but they have my favorite video podcast, it's just so well done, you can tell they actually give a damn. All the people seem comfortable on air (either on the audio or video versions) and well reasoned. It is boring, I'll give it that, but the people on them really seem to know what they're talking about beyond, "that shit's AWESOME11!!1"

Can you give me some links to the Gonzo in the morning and PTI podcasts? Please that'd be great.

Game Crazy just started a podcast and it's exactly what you would expect. Boy does it suck! It's full of plugs and commercials and bad music and random video game sound effects thrown in with two or three guys blabbering on about games but not really saying much. It's like what you might hear if you stuck around a store and listened in on the clerk's conversations.
