- As has been said, it starts on July 19th. I cannot remember offhand the date that it ends.

- Trade any 2 games, get any preorder for $29.99. I forgot to check if XBox 360 games are included in the deal, but as most people have already stated, I highly doubt it.

- The two games that are traded in for the deal must retail for at least $7.99 each (preowned price).

- The credit can still be applied towards the $29.99.

Game Pass

Rent unlimited games for a month. You can have one game (or 2 depending on the pass) out at a time and can return it whenever you want and switch it out as many times as you want.

$21.99 for 1 Game

http://www.gamerush.com/rules_gamepass.php click this link to find out about gamepass at Gamerush.

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).

You know BB continue to amaze me. I found another way to maximize my BB experience last night.

I'm a member of the all you can eat online BB rental, and as part of that promotion I get 2 free rentals a month (Game or Movies).

Last night I decided to rent Capcom Classics for XBOX, I'm sure everyone knows that if you don't return an item to BB that you will effectively buy it.

What I noticed last night is that my receipt had the final buy price for the game I was renting, a whopping 12$, yes the full 8$ coupon value had been subtracted from the game price. I commented to the clerk, that at 12$ I would be nuts to return the game. He goes, Oh!! If your not going to return the game I can give you the case and cover.

Score!!!

So I effectively got a brand new game for 40% off (12$ instead of 20), of course the % off will vary based upon the game, but you will be getting an 8$ discount for every game you keep.

I will now never buy a 20$ game, but rather use my free rentals as discount coupons :)

That's a really good idea. I might have to look into trying Blockbuster online now. Is there a promotional code you need to use to get the coupons or is it just part of the plan? I briefly looked at Blockbuster's website and didn't see any info about the rental coupons.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm an idiot and the info on the coupons is on the front page of the Blockbuster site.

You get two coupons per month that you print out. Its really quite slick. I considered that, but so far the games I've rented have still been hideously expensive: I could have paid an additional $42 for Starfox Assault... cause who doesn't want a used game for $50?; and even Lost Kingdoms was still going for $20, when I picked it up for $7.49 after coupons from EB.

But for new bargain games, I can see that being a good deal, especially if you get a nice, like-new disc and they have the case/manual.
Wow does it really cost 8 dollars to rent a game now??

What the fuck
Thats why paying $16 for a month of free rentals from BBOnline is so great... I get that money back by using my two free rental coupons, even if I do nothing else.

I think I might do the $9.99 version where you only have 1 movie out at a time. It appears that I still would get the coupons with that. That would mean only paying $10 and getting $16 in coupons. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Yep, I like my free coupons:

Anyways:
Madden PSP $28
Ridge Racer PSP $22

Pre-Ordered BLACK for XBOX (I was going to switch my other pre-orders to some 360 games, but my girl was not there this time)

Wow, I figured out how to finish off all my outstanding BB credit.

Dead to Rights 2 still gets $27, I'm gonna pick that up for $15 after GGC at Best Buy. Two copies of Trivial Pursuit will get me about $8 each, and I'm dumping Medal of Honor: Rising Sun that I got for $5 at Best Buy ($4.25 credit). $30 in purchases gets me $47 in credit, plus the $1.xx I still have on my account and a $10 gift card. So I'll be preordering Super Mario Strikers and something else, will probably need about $3 out of pocket.

This will be a fun Friday.

Anyone happen to know if either Gun or Starcraft: Ghost (not due out till February according to EB, December for GS) for GC are in the system yet?

Other than those two, I'm looking at either Mario Party 7 (I have Mario Party 4, so this one isn't high on the list), Shadow the Hedgehog, or Ghost Recon 3.
Hmmm...Xbox 360 Pre-orders didn't work for me today. Guess it's still YMMV.
Nope, they don't work...however, I was able to switch my XBOx preorder to 360 for $10 extra. YMMV on that also

Can you rent games online thru blockbuster or is it just movies? Also, are the coupons only good for movies or is it universal? Thx in advance.

You can only rent movies online for now, but the coupons are for any movie or game rental.

I have Gun pre-ordered for the Xbox, but I am going to change it to Xbox 360 next time I stop in.

Are the used game prices at GR set nationally? They always have several copies of a game with different price tags, and I've noticed that sometimes NONE of the tags are correct. I finally decided to get KOTOR 2 today... saw it at one GR for $35, then went to another and saw it for $30. It rang up at $25 and after the 25% off I got it for $20. That's a $15 swing from what the sticker acually said. I know it must be difficult to keep the tags up to date, but I really wonder what else I'm missing out on that's less than the tagged price.

Thx for the reply. Something's odd though. I decided to do the 9.99 one and the coupons clearly say DVD on them. Do they still allow a game rental in store?

Couldn't tell ya. I have the 2-movie-at-a-time plan, and I get two "One free movie or game rental" coupons. I get some news ones next week, woohoo. Getting ready to rent Battalion Wars and who knows what else.

dead to rights 2 still gets $27? If your positive about that I'm gonna go buy that tomorrow at BB and preorder socom 3.

if you are planning to sign up for blockbuster's online rental service for the in store game rental forget about it. They are no longer giving in store game rentals to new customers. The coupons will only be valid for movie rentals.

Wow. That's a strange increase. When Best Buy first put them on sale for $20 for like a week, it was only getting $20. It wasn't bad with the 25% bonus ($25 for about a $16 investment).

If you actually get that amount in the store, I'll have to get one or two for pre-order fodder.
Thx for the reply. Something's odd though. I decided to do the 9.99 one and the coupons clearly say DVD on them. Do they still allow a game rental in store?
I tried this and did the friend referral which got you three movies out at a time for a month and the two coupons, my cooupons said only for movies and no game rentals.

Just a few observations from my local Gamerush.

First, the reason that some places are going to receive additional Xbox 360's is because they are cutting off stores with less than 10 preorders. The store I go to only has 3 preorders and they have been told not to take any more.

Second, I saw Radiata Stories used for $34.99. With the 25% off, it's a great deal on a good game.

I tried to preorder some Xbox 360 games with the $29.99 deal, and got shut down. The first employee that helped me started doing it, but then the manager came over and said that it doesn't apply the X360 games. I was pissed, so close!

Anyway, they had a huge sign with the Xbox 360 on it, and the deal, which I think is kind of shitty if they're not doing it with 360 games.

Whoa! Go to GR's website right now and look under Xbox---->Trade. It says a used Xbox console is selling back for $0.00! Can we get them for free? XD.

I was going to post this months ago but figured I'd get yelled at for being deceitful. At least now I have company...

Several months ago, I rented Star Trek: Nemesis on DVD. I kept forgetting to bring it back and one day I got a postcard from Blockbuster saying that if I returned it, I'd have to pay the $1.25 restock fee. If I kept it, I owed the cost of the movie minus the rental fee which was...$2.50. You can guess what I ended up doing.

Soon after that, I wondered if that would work for some older, rare games which carried decent trade-in value at EB or Gamestop. I rented Resident Evil 3 - I had just finished RE4 and wanted more RE goodness. I do own RE3 for the PS1 but never played it. I called them and asked how much it would cost to purchase it. They told me it was their only copy and that they'd really like it back, but it would cost 10 bucks. At this point, I figure if I trade it in at EB and get $18.00 store credit I'd break even.

Best part? The purchase value of the game must have been lower than the rental fee, because I never heard from them again. Granted, I don't have the box for the game, but if I'm using it for trade, it won't matter. Score!

FYI, they should give you the case and manual for it if you ask (assuming they have it). I might try that for Jedi Outcast which is apparently good and hard to find? Either way, I believe I stated earlier that some plans like that don't work out. i.e. $42 to buy out Starfox Assault. Riiiight.

Wow, I didn't realize blockbuster.com is not doing game rentals anymore....I hope they don't stop mine. That is one of the main reasons I kept them. Different topic though...sorry.

What do you have to trade in if you trade in a console? Just the console? Do I need to include cables/controllers?

I'm pretty sure all you need is the console and chords. They do give you a free controller though when you buy a used system. Pretty neat, :D

You need a controller, the system, power cord, and (AV or RFU) for them to take it.

You need a controller, too? That's kind of crappy, :/ But I'm going up there today to trade in

Nightmare of Druaga (x3) (got it for $9.97 at TRU) - $19 credit each
Powerdrome (XB) (x2) ( Got 2 at CC for $2.96 each) - $12 credit each

...and preordering Socom 3 and Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for XBOX. Yay! 2 new releases for $~26! And with credit left over! YAY! I LOVE GAMERUSH! Now I just need to preorder Half-Life 2 for XBOX because I forgot my Steam Acct. Name... I know I'm a fucking idiot, the Silver Pack cost me $60... >.<

Anyways, $30.55 turned into $81 credit and then $9 out of pocket to preorder BF2: MC (XB), Socom III (PS2), and Half-Life 2 (XB). Yesss! $39.55 for 3 new releases. I seriously love my GR to death.

Damn we were thinking alike I just preordered Battle field 2 with Druaga and Powerdrome.

Just traded in:
DS-Retro Atari Classics $4.50
Xbox-Powerdrome Racing $12.00
Preordered Virtua Tennis for PSP. I was also able to switch my Quake 4 preorder from xbox to 360 for $10 more.
Do you guys think GR will get Castlevania DS soon?

Man, my plan back-fired. I only got ONE NoD for PS2 at my CC. Cost me $8.44 after taxes but it trades in at GameRush for $19. So I'm happy, I'll just go looking for Powerdrome at another CC if there is one around me, and I'm almost POSITIVE that they still have 3+ NoD's in stock at my other local TRU, so I'm going there on Saturday. Also, on my way home I saw an Explorer with a liscense plate reading: "NOMONEY". It reminded me of CAG and I got a laugh out of it. :D
Damn we were thinking alike I just preordered Battle field 2 with Druaga and Powerdrome.
Hahahaha. Except mine back-fired, but I'll get some NoD's at my other TRU and look out for some cheap Powerdrome's at other stores. I hope I have another local Circuit City so I can get Powerdrome from there, but I doubt I do. :'(

Okay, does anyone know of some 9.99 game at TRU that gets more than a buck at GR? I'm getting two 9.99 games there tomorrow, hence a third free, not sure if I should get something crappy like Intellivision Lives that I'll keep, or something crappy that gets me a few bucks at GR.

Also, in regards to our discussion of buying out rentals... is it possible to get the 25% off preowned games discount on those? Cause $8 off plus 25% would be awfully nice in some cases. I may just have to ask next week when I get my new coupons.
Which version of Dead to Rights II is getting $27? Is it both PS2 and xbox?
XBox that I know of. I never had any reason to ask about the PS2 version. Might be worth looking into though.

Is there anyway to get the GGC from best buy anymore? I know they upped the price to 30 bucks now instead of 20 and i want to snag dead to rightes 2 on xbox for 15

They are still some GGC's sitting around certain Best Buy's. My local 2 don't have any but the one by my brother's college has loads. I go there to stock up on them, and double my money with Dead to Rights 2. :D

I got Jedi Outcast for GC that way - I asked 3 employees about it (and also mentioned it here) before I did it. They were perfectly fine about it. In fact, when I rented it, the receipt said "Buy this game for only $17.99 more" or something to that effect - so it really isn't deceitful at all since it seems like they encourage it! They did have 2 copies, so it was no biggie to take one of them. They did NOT, however, have the manual in either copy, but I did go back later when I paid for it to get the case with insert (I promptly switched the trashed case out for one from a new GC game that I was trading in later :D).

It is a little wierd because they called AND I got a letter from BB corporate telling me the game was overdue. The BB corporate letter gave me a start (though I got it before the "letter" thread on CAG was posted - but I was still thinking it might be a trading related thing). And of course, every time I went in to trade or buy games, they would remind me it was due - for like 3-4 weeks until I finally insisted they just charge me for the damn thing - it did NOT happen automatically.
