I think it'd be pretty rad if someone with better image-generatin' skillz than me made a graphic of this. Y'know, to help us rep TN...

And a pun. Anyway, yeah, I'd be sure to include it in my sig.

Good day.

edit: If this wasn't supposed to be in this forum, my bad.

I'll see what I can do in the Photoshop department.

Lower Antioch, TN Rep.

PS: What should we have on the banner? I'll totally be doing this blind without SOME guidelines.

Hooray! Uh, I don't really know what should be on there..just the "TenneCAGs" logo/text/whatever, and something relating to TN, I guess. Just anything cool looking, y'know?

Alright, I'm from New York, but am moving to Hopkinsville, KY next week. I've been told by my friend there that the nearest big city is Nashville, TN....so that's probably where I'll be doing most of my shopping. Any must see game stores, places to avoid, etc?

places to avoid: Nashville ;). I can't personally say that i've ever video game shoped in nashville. But there is a Rhinos in murfreesboro (about 40 mins or so away from Nashville) that you can use the trade 2 get 1 thing that most people from around here do

If it's some older stuff you're after, Nashville is actually pretty great. I swear by the Great Escape; they pretty much have any old random thing pertaining to gaming laying around in some box or another. I needed a Gamecube/GBA cable today, for example, and I spotted a first party cable for 3.99.

Heading up north to Madison, there's another Great Escape, but the selection is more limited and traffic tends to be hell on any mid-afternoon weekday. Along the way there's a store called "Gametrader"...their prices are pretty nuts, but you'll find some nice rare stuff, as well as imported goodness. I bought a copy of Earthbound there for $30 once, and I recently saw a copy of Intelligent Qube for $50. Lots of SNES/NES stuff, but like I said, the newer game prices are bad.

Other than that, you have six or seven EBs within driving distance...some Gamestops that never seem to have anything good in stock, TRU/Bestbuy/the usual suspects. I do wish we had a Rhino, though.

My home town is Chattanooga. Are there any good deals/finds there? I would imagine the CC and BB had some good clearance stuff. And I always seem to find rare/uncommon games at McKays

Nashville represent! I finally moved back into town after living in Jackson for a few years, so I'm glad. As far as game shopping goes, theq87's right about Nashville - it's got some pretty great spots to find stuff. Knoxville's also really good - Plenty of the standard EBs and Gamestops, plus a few specialty places (McKay's is possibly one of the best stores ever) and pawn shops. Found myself a complete copy of Intelligent Qube at a pawn shop there for $3.99. Good times.

(Also, you know, if anybody wants to hook me up with a computer fixin' job, that'd be nice... Four years of tech support experience, yo.)

I'd like to have one closer, but Murfreesboro isn't that far to go every once in a while (and there is a Hastings there, too, although I haven't dropped by there on my last few trips). What we really need are Fry's and GameRush.

I actually ran into swick at TRU last Saturday, which was a little surreal, since I had not read his post and didn't realize he'd moved back. We'd met a few times before when he was driving through town (stealing deals from true nashvillians, jk).

Hastings is garbage now for games. I did find Ninja Gaiden black for 19.99 today they have like 4 more if anyone is intrested. also had animal crossing for 9.99 if anyone is intrested

I was wondering if you go to MTSU Odenat? I'll be going off to college next year and im thinking of going there. It will be nice to be around rhino's. It's a good school too...

Not at the moment I don't. I know there is a couple that do go to MTSU that post on here. The video game shoping is okay here. It really depends on your timing. I've found Gitaroo Man and Scorch has found a mint VP.

North TN here. The Huntsville/Helenwood area. There are absolutely no store deals to speak of around here.

I'm planning to move to the Clinton/Oak Ridge area by summer 2006, then I can start taking avantage of some of the in-store only deals, like at Target and etc.

hell yeah, swing this way and we'll tag team Rhino

Ok, am I the only one who DOESN'T like Rhino? The one time I went most of the stuff on the shelves were sun bleached (UV protection anyone?) and one of the employees was cussing more than I do, and that's quite a lot, with customers in the store. That was just a little too unprofessional for me, sorry. Besides the prices on almost everything were TRU out of whack. The only decent prices I saw were on some bootleg soundtracks (.hack and FFX-2). And yes, hastings, in murfreesboro at least, is utter shit for used games. They have no guidelines AT ALL for accepting stuff, so you are very lucky if anything you get there even works, and the prices aren't that great anyway. As for 360 camping, probably not I, but for anyone who is, the TRU has 12 non-preordered units. Not a lot, but if most people think they won't have any due to the fact that they were doing preorders, you might have a shot. They hadn't busted the boxes yet though, so they didn't know how many were POS core and how many were real. No clue if they will be requiring dumb ass bundles or not though. I would love to be camping, well maybe love is too strong of a word, but I pissed away too much money on the media play sale today.

I live in Nashville, TN too.

BTW, if any of you find a premium XBOX 360 available in any Nashville area stores, please message me. I've looked everywhere with no luck.

I had never even heard of Rhino until I met my most recent girlfriend (a psycho biatch) in January. Her brother apparently did all his game shopping there, which was unfortunate since he bought games often and they hardly ever seem to have any deals whatsoever. Anyway, Psycho Girl and I decided to take a trip up there one day... and holy cow. It looked like those games had been sitting outside for years, they were so sun bleached. You can't judge anything by its cover, they say, but you can certainly flat-out turn it down... and I would not buy that kind of crap.

Well I don't go to Rhinos for there selection of older games. I think most of us just use the Trade 2 Get 1 to build store credit to buy newer games or to get a system. I did find a gunstar heros the other day in pretty good shape.

somone refresh my memory...the hastings in the boro....what trade in deals do they have?
i could get rid of some random stuff.

They have really clamped down on there trade in policy. It's still trade 4 qualifying games get a new one for free. You can try I only go to hastings for really really good deals I hear about on here. On another not who has a DS in Murfreeboro besides Scorch and I
The Hastings in M'Boro has shit for deals, the one in Clarksville is much better
I didn't even know there was one in Clarksville. and did sell that lunar allready just to spite me ;)
I didn't even know there was one in Clarksville. and did sell that lunar allready just to spite me ;)
No, I still have it.

BTW, Rhino here in MBoro has Magna Carta for $49.99, they also have a used copy of Intelligent Cube for either $49.99 or $44.99..

Well myself and JJNova are both in the clarksville area. There are a few places in town, but we're limited. As Scorch stated Hastings is a good place, Target and the local pawnshops. Right before Thanksgiving there was a copy of Steel Battalion w/ controller for only $49.99 at the Money Tree Pawn Shop. I thought about getting it, but I don't have the space and the controllers useless except for SB.

Bad thing is that you might get the discount, but if for some reason it didn't work you don't get a refund. Money Tree seems to check things thoroughly before accepting them, but there are so many switches and buttons on that damn controller that I would't take a chance on it.

I live in Knoxville/Farragut and there are a few good places around here. There is a place called Games and Movies 4 Sale in Farragut where all CDs are $3.99 and the game prices are really random. I got The Suffering there for $4.99 but Enter The Matrix was $40. Game Haven in the Toys R Us parking lot is ok for old games but they aren't open on Saturdays which is when I usually go out.

In my experience.

Knoxville has a number of places that I visit when I'm in town: There are countless EBs and Gamestops (Turkey Creek has both, West Town and Knoxville Center have both, and there are standalone stores scattered everywhere). Charlie's Pawn on Kingston Pike has some decent stuff every once in a while - I've grabbed KOTOR2 for $10 there, and Intelligent Qube for $3 (believe me, I was happy). Game Haven is generally way too overpriced for my tastes. McKay's is the big one, though. They're on Papermill Drive, near the exit, and have a huge selection of used games, books, and movies. I've spent a lot of cash and trade-in there, you have no idea. Hours can be spent here. Awesome place.

Nashville is also good. Again, there are plenty of EBs and Gamestops, four or five Targets for a good selection of clearance stuff, etc. The Great Escape is the big used-media store here, and they've got two - one downtown, one up north in Madison. Their prices are a little wacky, but chances are you'll go home with something. I'm still looking for a decent pawnshop in the area.

Memphis... Really, all it has is the EBs and Gamestops. The few specialist stores in the area have mostly closed down - there was this place called Boomerang's over on Mount Moriah, and another store in an old house on Summer Avenue, but I don't think they're still around. Memphis is pretty depressing on the whole.

Jackson, between Memphis and Nashville, is even more depressing. I typically cleaned up whenever they had sales or clearances at any stores in the area, because I was the only CAG there. The GameCrazy 3-for-$15 sale? Oh, god. Even so, the one specialist store they had closed down, partly due to the owner having no clue what he was doing. I'm glad I live in Nashville now.

When in Murfreesboro, I also like to check out the Digital Planets, but no one's ever mentioned them here. Hmm.

I've never been to the one downtown, but i've visited the one in north Madison for years. I actually picked up Snatcher on Sega CD there for $10 a few years back, back when the Sega CD was new. They're INSANE on action figure prices (I went through a period where I collected Mcfarlane's Movie Maniacs line), but they're usually decently priced on games.

..Digital Planet? That's it? That's the only place you go? Cripes, whenever you're in town, get Guessed or myself to show you the other side of town - Hastings, Rhino (and their INSANE trade-in deals - Rhino has a ton of rare games, nothing over $49.99) and Media ReRun.. Media ReRun is awesome. Digital Planet's alright, I guess. I've found one or two good deals there, but the prices are so wonky. I went the other day and picked up two Forzas and looked at the back, one was priced $42.99 and one was $22.99. Just little things like that annoy me. I guess i'm still kinda bitter that they caused the CD Warehouse around the corner to go out of business.
another store in an old house on Summer Avenue, but I don't think they're still around.
They're still around, place called Games Plus, it's in some yellow house on Summer. Not really much to speak about there as far as selection, but they do have an AzureDisc machine.

I saw a DDR Mario Mix in the Smyrna Wal-Mart today, it was sitting next to the XBox games in the accessories section, on top of some steering wheels and whatnot. It's probably still there.

I have a favor to ask CAG's in the Nashville area. I went to the Hollywood Video on Gallatin, in front of Great Escape, and purchased some games; 4 $9.99 games for $20. Well I got all the way back here to Clarksville and one of the games was not in its case, Auto Modelista; I know I should have checked before driving away, but I forgot. Anyways, I was wondering if someone could go pick up the copy they have on hold and mail it to me. I will paypal you for s/h (media mail). Also I will have to call the store to see if someone else is able to pick it up due to they might want verification/receipt. The reason I am asking is because Friday I am leaving to go to Ft. Worth and probably won't make it to Nashville until mid January. If you can help I'd appreciate it, but if not it ain't no biggie, thanks.

Wow i'm really starting to hate Rhinos. I don't know about other stores but the one in Murfreesboro is horrible. Do you really have to cuss every two minutes infront of children? They throw the games at you whenever they don't feel like working. And the other day I was asked to buy something from another store because they didnt feel like digging it out of the back.
