From IGN.com:

I hear things... Specifically, a Halo game for GBA.

No, I'm not a crackpot, or even a 10 year old kid. I'm not joking. I hear from a trusted source that this may happen. Not sure what KIND of game it may be.

What are you waiting for? Go ask someone.

Well, this was something that I've known for months about, but was literally sworn to secrecy by the people involved (just like many OTHER things I know but can't say). But since it's been mentioned in another publication, I can confirm that, yes, Halo is in the works for the GBA. That's all I can say, on risk of having my fingernails ripped off with a bottle opener.

This comes after reading a rumor for it in EGM, so I guess it's legit. Kinda surreal...but then again, Game Boy = Money, and everyone knows how much M$ loves that.

See, this is perfect. GBA/XBox connectivity!!! Hook up Halo for GBA and Halo 2 for XBox, and you can play as Samus in Halo 2! What a great idea!!! Next you will be able to play as Link in the XBox version of Soulcalibur 3.

I have little doubt that this will turn out horrible. Unless they reinvent the series. But people will want to see Halo on the GBA/DS/whatever like it already is on the Xbox/PC.

...and the Dreamcast was reborn, welcoming back it's faithful and shunning those that had assisted in it's early demise! Repent ye of little gameplay and major graphics!!!

Well you know...word is that Microsoft and Nintendo are sharing the same primary chip architecture for the next gen systems...a lot of rumors are flying that they may be working together...DS connectivity, Halo...may not be entirely farfetched...

SPECULATE'D!

I don't think they are working together or anything, just think Microsoft has no plans to enter the handheld market, and Halo on Game Boy would make lots of $. Doubt Bungie is even making it. Prolly licensed it out to THQ or something.

Where did I see that MS was looking into the handheld market? I think it had to do with them registering websites and such, but you know how those rumors always pan out.....

Halo will prolly just be a name to move some copies. Maybe Microsoft will make it bad to make Nintendo lose cred. Or maybe Nintendo will make it bad to make Halo lose cred. I dunno.

i honestly dont see this happening.. i dont see microsoft working with nintendo, but then again if they're not entering the handheld market, then they wouldnt be losing any money.

i really dont see this happening, and i wont believe it till i see it :p
yeah, sega is making a new console too ^^
Sega WILL make a new console! I'm waiting on the Segaton to come at any moment. But I think they will be showing it at E3 2005. :D

MS did OK Rare to finish up their GBA titles...and it was rumored that Rare would be receiving DS development kits despite the fact that they are an MS 2nd party now. So it doesn't seem like complete bullshit.
I wouldn't mind if they took a totally different route and maybe made it a side scrolling Contra-style game.
That could be potentially hot. But they definitely need to make a drastic change in order to make it a great game.

Halo Gaiden. That would be great. A new adventure for Master Chief in the Halo universe designed to work within the strengths of the GBA rather than producing a weak attempt at an FPS as we've already seen on GBA.

Both Microsoft and Nintendo have everything to gain and nothing to lose from Microsoft franchises appearing on GBA and eventually DS. Microsoft has no portable platform to support with exclusive titles. (At least not now or any time soon.) Nintendo has no more to fear from these franchise on their portable than they do from any of the numerous other GBA games whose console version are mainly seen as part of the PS1 and PS2 culture. Tekken Advance, Spyro, and Crash Bandicoot, for instance. The latter two have gone multi-platform but were still PS1/2 mainstays went they had their first GameBoy appearances.

Both companies stand to make a good deal of money from such an arrangement. It would be no different a relationship than between Nintendo and any other third party.

I find it funny even went to the trouble of creating a Halo Ganme for the GBA. First, because Ninteno is a competing company and second because they've stated that the whole concept of a portable game market is idiotic (which is itself an idiotic statement)

AND THEN THEY'LL TEAM UP TO DESTROY SONY?!?! YAY!!!

Well, for one, all I can say is... Sweetness!

I absolutely hate Halo (Sorry guys!), but for some reason I think if it does come to the GBA, it will be a Strategy game. All along, I've felt Halo would make a kick-ass Strategy-RPG game. >_> Commanding a squad of marines against the flood and covenant in an intergalactic defense.

Also, regarding the MS - GBA point -- I heard from somewhere that MicroSoft doesn't mind making games for the GBA (in fact they've published a few themselves) because they do not see the Game Boy as a competitor to the Xbox. Now, if Microsoft had, or was planning, their own handheld it would probably be different.
Since no one else has said it, I call bull shit on this one.
completly argree with you.
the only way halo/halo 2 will become portable is if you have a laptop, feel like lugging around an xbox and a hip gear screen controller or ms releases a portable.

i don't think that microsoft is going to give up their best game that is still on the top 10 list in April/May 2k4 of xbox games.

i hate all this "lets put (insert game title here) on every console".

all compaines do is focus on one version and ignore the rest or make one that will work on all consoles.

if devolopers could focus on learning one type of code for a console they could make great games.

I have heard this for a couple months now. I have heard the DS though. I wouldnt put it past them they are out to kill Sony. Nintendo is a competitor but think of the latest stuff coming from Microsofts mouth...all anti Sony.

They are mainly against Sony because both Microsoft and Sony want the household and want to do more than just gaming. Nintendo wants just gaming.

Secondly back when Nintendo reported their only loss in their 100+ year history they bought back some of their shares. Which leads me to believe they did this to prevent any future buy ups form larger corps..Microsoft etc.

If they released a Halo title at or near launch of the DS. Then that would really help get the DS into households and put a damper on Sony and hurt their investment and bottom line.

Microsoft always looks at the big picture. They can take out Sony now and somewhat team up with Nintendo once Sony is weak then turn on Nintendo also. I mean why wouldnt they.?

Speaking of another Bungie game, did you know the head guy left and he's gonna make a non-Halo game using the Halo engine? I thought that was interesting, and I've always thought it'd be great to use the Halo engine--before it became out-dated!!!

I don't understand where some of you get the idea that Microsoft would be "giving" much of anything "up" by having a GBA "version" of Halo released.

Gamespot said the whole thing is bogus in the latest Rumor Control. Apparently, their is a Halo side scroller in the works...by amatuers. Their creating some lame Halo tribute game call Halo: Blood Covenant for PCs and in their part time so even it won't be done for quite awhile. Bungie clearly denied it outright on their website too.
