i hate smilies so much. the little faces, like these : ) : D >: ( looked a hell of a lot better than the stupid cartoons they've been replaced with

Some are okay. I think the problem with emoticons is that some jackass some where said "hey lets makes smiling faces for every word in the dictionary.
 
Yeah, I do not use them while typing or messaging aside from a smile or wink here and there.

But I liked using one in my profile since I can't put actual pictures in it.
