I recently got a Platinum SP as a gift. I don't need it, so I'd rather return it to Best Buy for credit to get something else. Problem is, they won't take it without a receipt. If anybody has a receipt for a SP, perferably platinum, I could sure use it. I can trade something off my list, subtime, or some Paypal.

Thanks in advance.

PS: I tried to return it at Wal-Mart, but their systems showed it was purchased at Best Buy.

Hah! PWN!
Are you not able to get the receipt from whoever gave it to you?
lol that is rude IMO, i could never do that especially for something that much money....

The only problem with using another receipt may be that the serial numbers do not match. As you may have noticed, there is a window on the back of the box so that the cashier can scan the serial number of the GBA SP. In my experience, that is included in the information on the receipt.

I HATE Best Buy's policy of not accepting anything without receipt. They could very easily look up the purchase in their computer, particularly when the item has an SN. Stupid policy.

try every electronics store in town that sells SP's. Someone is bound to give store credit with no receipt. And if it is still sealed you can get almost all of its value on Ebay.

I think it's even more rude to return it surreptitiously. Seriously, just be honest about it.

So far I have tried Best Buy, which is where it was purchased, Circuit City, Target, Wal-Mart, and Toys "R" Us. All of the said I need a receipt, except from Wal-Mart which told me it came from Best Buy.
how could wal mart tell it was from best buy?
tha best buy price tag on the front of the box perhaps? ^^

Just curious, but in your initial post you said that it was a gift, but now you said you won it in a raffle??

I think it goes into some sort of a database to match the serial to the system. I'm sure it's used for tracking some kind of data that goes to or comes from Nintendo. Your best bet would just to sell it to someone for close to full price.

Maybe you could take it to an EB Games or Gamestop too.

Don't be picky. [-X

What's the difference?

damn, if thats the case, then its his own fault wally world wouldnt take it! ha ha ha

It was a gift, a graduation gift. It doesn't matter if it came from a raffle held by the school, it's still a gift. It somebody will pay me near full price, then I would sell it to them, but I don't believe I will find a buyer.

Why would you care if someone wants to pay full price? If I got something that I didn't want that is worth $100 for FREE I'd be more than willing to make let's say $70 on it if someone offered. It's $70 towards something that I really want from something I don't want.

Good luck. Even stores that have a policy of giving store credit with no receipt have an exception when it comes to systems. Almost every store I can think of scans in the serial number when sold, that way it is immediately registered with Nintendo so if you lose your receipt, Nintendo will know if you are still in warranty. And stores use it as a way to make sure they are not getting screwed with the old system swap out.

Like someone else said, try selling on ebay.
