My game collection lost $600 value overnight

PsyClerk

CAGiversary!
I don't know what happened, but my collection was valued at over $10K yesterday. Normally that's not something I pay much attention to, but today while adding games and ratings I noticed the value had slipped under the $10K mark.

Did IGN re-value some games? I know I sure as hell didn't sink $10K in all those.

the game values are based in the ign store either their selling price or what the would give you on trade in since it is nothing more then gamestop.com

I'm thinking that it probably has to do with the games you have that can be bought at their gamestore. So when price drops happen the total value of the collection drops to reflect those changes. That was the only thing I could think of that made any sense.

EDIT: Wshakspear beat me to it.

I have no idea how they value them. I added Ninja Gaiden, Transformers, Socom 2, Onimusha 3, Front Mission 4 to my list the other day and it went up $25. That's crazy.

mine was over $10,000 and dropped to just under $8,000...i was wondering the same thing...its not like igns game value matters though...im sure i could get more then that for my games if i wanted

Mine dropped like 2.5K....

I use it as a guide value for my collection for insurance reasons... I like to use guzzlefish, but their database is severly lacking.

SELL! SELL! The bubble's bursting! Soon there'll be consoles jumping out of highrise windows!

Actually, I read a Letter-totheEditor in Gamepro or EGM or something tht basically did say there's a bubble, and a glut of used games on the market due to the increasing popularity of consoles, thus the lower trade in prices [in addition to the fact that most stores give jack for trade in anyway.]

It was in this months Gamepro, and such a bunch of worthless banter it was. It was response to someone whining about trade-in values, and there was no mention of titles given, just the I paid $50 spiel..... I suspect that Madden '02 was in the list.....

Really it's about EB taking advantage of their position in the market, and here's some good reading material about the situation.

Actually, I noticed a few days ago that my collection went up about $4k but dropped to its usual level when I checked it just now. :?:
