Our first deal for 2006!

Got it off of craigslist: the closest thing to a yardsale we can get here in New England. We bought it pretty much for the box, and we're glad we did. The box is in great shape. He was asking $15, but he took $10.

We're really missing the yardsales! :whistle2:(

I'm hoping they'll really start up some time in March here in North VA. Well, time to go play ICO on the PS2 I picked up for $15 at yard sale last year. :)

i think i got my deal for the year at a apw shop today god of war 5, i was so happy i screamed holly shit, this year is going to rock

Not a yardsale, but at the local Value Village I found 4 transformers for a buck each, and the real treasure to you folks, a Sly 3 Figure. Apparently there was a contest not too long ago for one, and roundabout I won it
CIMG0048.jpg

Edit: I forgot to say how much I paid for it: $1.99

I'm ready for 2006. But I might get my biggest score this year from a private deal. One of the guys I work with, who knows I'm a video game junkie has a buddy that is going through a breakup and being forced to move and is really hard up for cash. Anyway this guy has approximately 1600-1800 games he wants to get rid of quick. (hopefully there's some systems too) I don't have much info right now but he did mention he has many rare import games and that there would be a list of available goods as early as tomorrow. I told him to talk to his buddy let him know i'm really interested and if the price is right I'll buy it all. I told him to tell his friend I got the green and he's just got to say the word and if nothing else could he at least get me first dibs. This guy I work with is a pretty straight up guy so I don't think he's jerking my chain. Early in last season I missed a big collection score by minutes, maybe this will make up for it. I'll keep you guys posted.

This deal has not panned out yet. apparently this guy's psycho girlfriend had him locked up on a bogus assault charge and he's been sitting in jail since last week awaitimg trial. Maybe when he gets out he'll be more desperate for cash to pay his lawyer fees and I'll be the guy with cash on the barrel.

Regardless, I picked up at a local flea

N64 - deck only - $3
Marked $5 but scored with the CIF for $3

Micorosoft XBox controller - $1
Guy was asking $1. Could'nt haggle that

Incredible Hulk - PC sealed - $1
Same guy same asking price. Unfortunately the only other gaming thing this guy had was a Game Gear with 5 cheesy games and very cool carrying case. He wanted $70. I shot him the WTF look, then thanked him for what he sold me and went on my way

Thrift Store Finds.

DC with all connections and 2 controllers $10
8 nes controls, 2 AC adapters, 1 RF adapter $2.50
Watching people pay 20 bucks for a used PSX, priceless

the same guy and store sold me 1 nes control last week for a buck.

I have a Nes in the trading forums, which is now complete, if your interested drop me a PM.

Went to an estate sale and the guy had a bunch of xbox games, well mostly empty boxes. I sifted through the stuff and it was mostly crap. There were some PS1 games in the mix and low and behold. I come across Castlevania Symphony of the Night non GH disc and Instructions. I ask him how much and he's like 'just take it " I asked him if he had any more stuff and he told me he has Turbo grafx, NES, SNES, colecovision systems and games and a lot of other "junk" as he put it, but it was at his apartment. I gave him my number told him to call if he wanted to get rid of his junk and I'd buy the lot. He said he wanted to and would call me. we'll see what happens

The season should start in a couple of weeks down here. With the weather we've been happening, it might be sooner! can't wait.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hit 4 flea markets this weekend. We've really had the yardsale bug lately, so we decided to hit up our local indoor fleas. Saw a lot of stuff overpriced that we sadly had to leave behind. But at least we came home with a few things.

We found Mystical Ninja at one of the flea markets, on a shelf inside of a small cupboard. It was tagged $5, but we offered $1 and the woman took it. Note the dirt-encrusted case in the picture (above). Not even 3 minutes with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, and you can see the results (below).

It pisses me of seeing all of these dirt-encrusted, filthy games and systems sitting at flea markets with ridiculous pricetags. Like, if you're going to charge $40 for a SNES, take 10 minutes and make it look nice. If you're going to try and sell me a SNES cart that looks like it was burried in the ground, don't try and milk $5 or $10. All of the flea market vendors are sitting on their asses all day, either watching little black and white TVs or going outside to smoke cigarettes. It's like they don't even care about selling their products at all. Take some of that time that you spend doing absolutely nothing, and clean your shit. Ugh. IT TAKES LESS THAN 5 MINUTES!

Saw a box of 10 or so Atari 2600 carts, and 3 Intellivision game boxes. We later found out that there was an Atari 2600 Jr. in a box somewhere, which was covered up by other junk. Everything was in horrible condition, yet he would only go as low as $30 for the entire bundle. I informed him that he had mostly common games, that were in poor condition, that usually corrode and become unusable after all this time (especially in the state they're in), and are readily available on PS2 compilation disks. He didn't care, so we walked.

The Madden box was sitting on a table at another flea market (outdoors - it was a nice day :) ). We saw there was no game in the box, just the manual. We asked the guy about it and he said it must've been stolen. We went on to ask what he was going to do with the box, and he told us to just take it.

Went to another indoor flea, and saw a HUGE collection of videogame stuff. Bins upon bins of cart only games, tons of systems and boxes, everything you could think of. They had a GCN kiosk set up, and a bunch of systems set up to play. This store/set-up was run by an elderly skinny black woman, and her son. The son was probably 40 years old, weighed about 400 pounds, and was confined to a wheel chair. He had a long gray beard, 4 inch long purple fingernails, and a rastafarian hat. Unfortunately, everything they had was overpriced. The only thing I found that I would want was Alex Kidd in Shinobi World (Sega Master System) with Box and no manual. She wouldn't go lower than $10, and when I offered $5 she kicked me out of the store. Ah well.

Finally, the burnt NES games were a Craigslist find from a few weeks ago. They were listed for free, and the guy indicated that they had been left near a radiator. Most of the games have burns or melted edges. The games in blue are the ones we are keeping, because they are the least damaged or dirty. Metal Gear isn't in spectacular condition, but it's a game we don't yet own. Normally we would throw it out, but we're going to hold onto it until we come across a better cart. The bitter irony of it all is that Mario/Duck Hunt is in great shape, while the games we didn't have are scorched and warped. It's sad that we have to throw away games, but they are really beyond repair and there's no point in keeping them. :whistle2:(

I do not know if it will work on all NES games but I had some games that the cases were cracked or busted. I removed the game boards and have a cart that I swap the boards out when I want to play those games

the guy had a stack of saturn games....he said i could have them for 2 bucks each...panzer dragoon saga was in my hand! i put it back in with the rest of the games and started counting them so i know how much to give him...flip through the games one more time looking at each one.... and he says: "hey i cant sell that one (panzer) its worth a hundred bucks on ebay" AGHHHHHHHHHHHHH he also took back his imports oh well... in the end i ended up spending about 100 bucks at his garage sale... but i also got a ton of computer equipment i dident picture i figure i got the game stuff for 40 or 50 something like that if i consider all the computer stuff that was in there too. The lynx is broke, but it does come with games, he threw it in for free.

and this stuff i got for 65 shipped, cost the guy 30 to ship it all :0

Amazing haul. Sucks that he took back Saga. I would have hid that under some of the other saturn games hoping he wouldn't notice.

geeze if i had known he knew it was worth alot i would have tried to hide it best as i could...i guess i should have assumed he knew it was worth something since he had SO much gaming stuff, i dident buy his amiga or his nomad... i was just so happy i was getting it, i wasent thinking and i fliped through the games right in front of him, i almost just counted them without looking at each one... aghh im still supprised he let go of the turbo with the booster for 10, and 2 each for the games... i went back later in the day and got the genesis, saturn and some of the other stuff for pretty cheap, dident see the genesis games till i went back the second time.

At $2 a piece for them, that's probably what I would have done. I've been really anxious to buy some Saturn games lately though.
hows about sharing the love on one of those PSone combos...
:roll:I wouldn't mind one of those myself, did they ring up as $10? I think my K-Mart had one or two in stock.

Wow, you really lucked out man. Those would be a score of a lifetime for me!

I don't know how I could go on after having a $2 PDS ripped from my hands, but there's no way that you could've known that that would've happened.

Hasn't been anything in MA for 4 months now, and we've been very anxious to get out there. March is going to be a long, long month...

honestly though, did he need to grab every single combo? disappointing. congrats on your other finds though.

If I would have had that stack of Saturn games in my hand I would have droppped a $20 or $50 and said "Thanks" as I ran to my car.lol

Did i have to get every single one? of course, i plan on ebay those baby's :) the story behind the combo's is, me and my brother were at kmart looking for some ff7's and i see all those ps1 combo's up on the top shelf kinda covered up by a large 59.99 sign, the lady saw us interested in them and she said that, that was the christmas aftersale price, and it probably wasent 59.99 anymore, i asked her if it was back to 150, and she said she dident know, hand her one and she would ring it up, she rank it up and pointed to the little screen that shows the price :) actually they rang up at 9.99, i figure i can make abit on ebay if i put them buy it now 100.

thats the thing - you're hoarding. if you're gonna do that, go ahead and keep it to yourself, because nobody cares if you're greedy ;)

indeed i am, im always looking for cheap deals to get just so i can sell it to make extra cash, it will help pay for all the garage saleing ive been doing! heck for 9.99 id put one in every room in the house, in my car, one on the ciliing, i dont see any big corporations handing out cash, if i see a really good deal, who cares if i have it already or not.

I don't think any sales have started in my area yet, but I did get lucky at a pawn shop. They had a stack of disc only games for $3 each. I picked up ICO and DarkCloud 2 for a little over $6. They also had space channel 5 for the ps2, but it said disc 2 and that was the only disc. I passed on that.
why don'tt you guys just go and see if your K-Mart has some?
uh, well speaking for myself i know my kmart dosent have any from when i was looking for the screen only a few months ago...and unfortunately there arent too many kmarts around anymore

No kidding

I sold a mint used one the other day on ebay for $108. I'll investigate tomorrow whether any kmarts in the phoenix area have some (not optimistic). I'd say it would be quite worthwhile to make over 1000 percent on them.

Also interesting to note that there are quite few of them on ebay right now in new condition.

Picked up at a thrift

Sega Master System Games

Rambo Part II
Double Dragon
Vigilante
Hang on/ Astro Warrior

with boxes for 3.50 each
(they are going on my tradelist)

I have not really devoted as much time to seek out deals as I used to; but I do have one good find so far this year.

System Shock 2 [included box, manual, and actual CD, pretty good condition]
$ 3

The local library has section that sells used books, cd's, and once in a great while, will have some PC software (although most of it is stuff like 'Learn Office '98 the Easy Way'). When I was browsing through there a couple weeks ago, low and behold, System Shock 2 was there. I'm not sure how it got at the library (maybe someone just donated it to the library, or it was a worker's personal game and gave it up), but I found it and it definitely brightened that weekend :)

I didn't even buy for whatever collectible value it would have; I've just heard great things about the game and want to play the real CD. Of course, I have not even played it, and probably won't for a few months, since I'm busy with school..

regards,
keyshawn
