Got $37 trade-in credit for Riddick at EB

jshorr

CAGiversary!
I got a copy of Riddick from Gamerush with one of their deals a few weeks ago. I called EB to ask how much credit they give and it was $35. I went down there and also used a $2 coupon from the "pass along" link of the EB online flash game. So I got $37 credit overall. I'm pretty satisfied with that. I called gamestop and they told me $24. Not bad huh?

I got the credit back on a gift card that can be used at ebgames.com as well as in-store. The guy told me that if I put it on the GMR card purchases on it were tax free (I don't know if that's PO only or anything) but I like being able to use it for temporary drops @ ebgames.com that don't make it to stores.

nope, the card can be used for anything in the store or online. Since you used trade-in credit to get it, there is no sales tax associated with anything you buy from that card. So, Happy Shopping!!

We just had a guy from EB drop off some handouts with coupons.

$15 off San Andreas with trade in of PS2 Vice City. (yay.)
Buy 1 PO, get 1 PO 25% off (?)
and a good one, especially with riddick:
20% extra trade-in. (up to 3 Xbox, Ps2, or Gamecube games...no duplicates.)

Which card? I wound up putting it on a gift card that has a security pin, not the GMR card. I had 37.00 from the trade-in, and I transferred 32.92 from an existing (not useable online) gift card for a 69.92 total. You're saying that I won't pay tax on $37.00 worth of shopping on it? How do they keep track of that?

That would have been sweet for Riddick, $42.

On a side note, they told me only $17 for Pandora tomorrow. That's too damned cheap in my opinion.

when do these coupons expire?

Nope, sorry. they wont charge tax on the GMR card. The only thing put onto those cards in tradein credit, therefore no tax charged. If you got it on a regular gift card, there will be tax.
Side note, my EB only lets people put trade credit on a EDGE orange card, never on a gift card. You got a sweet deal.

I work there and have never heard or seen anything about these so called deals.

they expire on 7/21.

These were brought to my comic book store by one of thies employees. they are a relatively new store in a relatively new shopping center (Fountain Walk)

They are coupons called "bounce back coupons". Only strip centers get them to use for off site marketing.

I know. I am handing out 1000 this week myself at a local movie theatre with a Spiderman 2 promo.
