Game Pass

Rent unlimited games for a month. You can have one game (or 2 depending on the pass) out at a time and can return it whenever you want and switch it out as many times as you want.

$21.99 for 1 Game

http://www.gamerush.com/rules_gamepass.php click this link to find out about gamepass at Gamerush.

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).

Thanks to io for his work on compiling the following pre-order list.

-----------------------------------------------------

Here's a relatively up-to-date GR preorder list, grouped by month, based on GR's expected shipping dates (I have actual dates if anyone is interested but was not about to type those all in). Note that March 2006 was a placeholder for many of the games delayed from this year - so I would expect many of those games to come out even later. Note that this list also has a column labelled "Presell cut-off date" which is always 5 days before the expected ship date. Maybe they have an official policy about preorder cutoffs now.

Note also that this list is certainly not comprehensive because it does not contain Phantasy Star Universe (for PS2) or Chibi Robo (GC), both of which I myself have preordered.

Wow I hope they have some trade in deals in February. I have a stack of old games to trade in and I would love to see the 3 for $5 deal again.
the $24 price for Geist is quite nice
Yes, thats a real easy money maker. It's 19$ at BB, 15 A/C, so easy 9$ profit. Rinse & Repeat until you can buy no more :)

Or $10 at TRU, which is where I thought most people were getting them from.

Seems easier to stockpile at TRU since you can just buy many at one time, and not have to worry about multiple coupons.

my main problem is that i have no gamerushes, only blockbusters. i have about $800 in credit and they don't sell 360 games yet!

Yeah, there are others as well, such as Phantasy Star Universe for PS2 (May). Black & White Creates for DS and PSP are also in the preorder system. (EB games also has a B&W listed for PS2 for May - it's a B&W bonanza!).

Age of Empires is a strange one - GR has it listed for $39.99, but everywhere else has it for $29.99. So I'm looking to switch that to something else, but like I said before, they won't switch to a $50 game without making me pay $10 more (even though I used the preorder deal). GR has it marked as a Feb 1 release, but EB has it set for Feb. 14th. So I'm hoping that once Feb 1 passes and GR doesn't have it they will let me switch to a $50 game. Or maybe I ought to just pay the $10 difference - it would be better than getting a $30 game having used the preorder deal!

Now, I would just switch it to Shadow Hearts From the New World, since that is supposed to be a $40 game, but of course damn GR has it listed as a $50 game! So if I switched to that and paid the $10 difference they would just keep the difference (as far as I can tell they do NOT refund price changes on preorders).

Black & White DS is listed at EB as a Feb 1 release and as a $50 game (GR has it for $40). EB must be wrong on both counts there.

Gamecrazy has Suikoden V as a $40 game, EB and GR have it for $50. Gamecrazy also has Valkyrie Profile for PSP available for preorder, but not GR (I looked through their PSP preorder list a few days ago and there's nothing new).

Count on paying those higher prices then. Wild Arms 4 has an MSRP of $39.99, I ended up having to pay $49.99 for it at GR (but with the credit I didn't care about the extra $10, still was about $20 out of pocket in "real" money). Since Shadow Hearts is also being brought here by XSEED, expect the $49.99 tag to stay.

Not sure why GR is charging $10 more for select games, it's odd. I even double checked on WA 4, I thought $49.99 was some kind of mistake, but nope.

Yeah, I'm gonna follow-up with them on AOE, see what might cause that. You'd think if they price-matched trade-ins, they might price-match sales, but I suppose not. But ditto... it might be $10 more credit, but that still translates to around $20 cash as opposed to the $30 I would pay anywhere else.

OK, good to know, so they aren't even correcting the prices AFTER release, eh? That sucks. Not sure I even want the new SH, as I haven't played the first 2 yet. I was able to get SHC from Target for $7.50, maybe I should wait for the same for the new one :D. I'm trying to be more selective with my preorders even with the "double" credit at GR - I have too many GR-preordered games sitting around sealed, and available elsewhere for $10 or so :whistle2:(.
I think Kuon has run its course:
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82886
How so? It has been $15 new at GS the whole time as well (or was that Echo Night?). In any case, until GR drops it, it hasn't run its course :D. I actually haven't even traded Kuon in to any of my local stores yet, so I was hoping for one more GS Buy 2 Get 1 free run. Since Brotherhood of Steel was a bust, any ideas on the third game?

Any idea what Fable gets at GR? I noticed that was $9.99 at GS, but the one copy I saw was all beat up, so I didn't bother.

Well, I figure if EB's had it at 49.99 forever, GR might decide to drop it soon as well. But I'm done trading that one in anyway (too many and not sure where I've traded anymore). Couple more Geists then I'll be waiting on a new moneymaker.

Maybe Road Trip for PS2? The GameCube version of that game sells for $40 used at GR, but I'm not sure about the PS2 version. I need to ask about those the next time I'm in GR.

Hehe, I'm waiting on a moneyspender. I've got way more credit than is healthy. I think I'll pick up that GB player I saw the other day ($45). Don't really have any need for it, but what the heck. It's going to be a long while before we can preorder PS3 or Rev, I think... (at EB they said the Sony rep wouldn't tell them anything, and he thinks that's a bad sign, Rev he expects by Thanksgiving as we all do).

Completely OT:
Overheard customer at EB "So, you know what Playstation 2 should do? They should come out with games that cost a little more but have a movie included on the disc. That would be cool. Half game, half movie. Yeah, that's what they should do". Sad thing was he was about my age . And let's just say that I'm easily old enough to be aoLat's father.

ViolentLee you are an unselfish man, unlike most of these greedy bastards. I remember another post of yours about you giving a Blockbuster giftcard to your mailman for Christmas. You deserve every great deal this site has to offer. Respect.

Raze's Hell for XBOX gets $7.00. I picked this up at the KB Clearence a couple of months ago for $3.50 so trading it in was worth it.
Maybe Road Trip for PS2? The GameCube version of that game sells for $40 used at GR, but I'm not sure about the PS2 version. I need to ask about those the next time I'm in GR.
Don't think I've ever seen a Road Trip. drfielgood's list from way back (that's been pretty accurate) had Road Trip (GC) for $27, I believe. I'd have to check that when I get home.

Yeah, I'm guessing it still trades in for $24 or $27. I see the PS2 version of it a lot at GameStop for $10 used, but I doubt it's worth as much as the GameCube version. Definitely something I need to follow up on though.

Yeah, it is probably like Auto Modellista. That gets squat for PS2, but I think in the 20's for GC. I'm sure Road Trip is the same.
Maybe he was mentally challenged? I don't know. BTW I'm 15, so you'd have to be like... 40 something most likely to be my dad. You're old. :D

big jk dawg.

Thanks, bro. Sometimes there's better things to put credit toward than another game that's going to sit unplayed on my shelf, y'know?

Road Trip for PS2 trades in for $2.50. :( I just called. I didn't ask about the GC one though.

Wait Tom Green got his own game? Is the snake eating a mouse level in first person or over the shoulder view? What about the fat black girl stage?

I can't believe I missed this.......

Who the heck knows (about the mentally challenged bit) - he also said he bought a "Playstation 2 portable" to play at work :).

Yeah, I knew you were 15, you've said it before. I'm not quite 40 yet... :D

I don't get it.

:D :p
Prolly because you was watching sesame street when it came out. ;)
I was kidding silly billy :D

Thanks for the GEIST tip....I picked up the last one at my TRU....still got $24 today.

I now have $204 in credit...plus 8 games still pre-ordered for the 360.

Also, no info on the PS3 yet....I asked to see when they would take pre-orders...nothing.

I'll murder you sev. Take a stop by the new C.C. and I'll show you whose school it is now. :D
how much does GR give for the nintendo DS hardware? damn nintendo is coming out with a new design :)
$60.
$60.
Yeah, it pretty much sucks. When I bought a Teal DS for my daughter I wanted to get rid of my Silver one. I thought about brining it to GR until I saw that price. I ebayed it for over $100 instead, but that was just before Christmas. I'm sure you can beat $60 though, easily, and get it in real cash instead of GR credit to boot :D.

Elmyra - Did you trade in another two copies of Geist to the 34th Street South Gamerush today? The only reason I post it out here, and not in PM, is because it pertains to everyone who may be in our area.

I went there today to trade in 1 DMC 3 and 1 Geist, and IMMEDIATELY the cashier starts attacking me as soon as she sees the game.

Employee - "Oh, you must have got this off that website"
Me: "What are you talking about, this is my own personal copy, I don't know anything about a website"
Employee - "Well, some guy came in, he traded in two copies yesterday, two copies today, and when I asked him, he told me that he found out how much they were from a website and bought some copies for cheap"
Me: "Oh... that's crazy"

At this time my girlfriend asks questions like "What website?" and "Wow, I wonder what store they are getting these games from" and the employee says "I wish I knew, they are taking advantage of us" and she starts showing the game to the other employees.

She also made mention of how she called the store on 49th Street North, to "get the word out that some people may be abusing this game". Needless to say, I had to drive to Clearwater to trade in my games, where they were oblivious to what was going on (the employee still took my Geist, asked me how it was and I made up some BS about the game).

I was just lucky I only traded one copy with my DMC 3, but in the future, if it was you, don't tip the employees off, because this lady was crazy furious.
Traded in a fat lot yesterday. Gave all the credit to a friend who got robbed of all his games (he's a big collector also working in the industry). To those of you who live on your own:
GET RENTER'S INSURANCE!
I've got home insurance (required by the bank when you own) but if anything happens to your collection you get pennies on the dollar. Say you paid $10,000 for your video game collection...odds are you'll get a few hundred bucks for it from insurance. To get top dollar, you need collector's insurance, which insures your collection for what it's been appraised for (you need an appraisal from a used video game store or industry professional). This is very pricey insurance though, so it's only worth it if your collection is in the tens of thousand dollar range. I know a lot of guys that have this for their comic book or sports card collections because they have collections approaching a million dollars in value.

Holy crap, no, that wasn't me. I never even left my house today. I was actually so freaked out by what happened yesterday that I was thinking about dumping all of my extra Gesits on eBay or just returning them to TRU (they don't seem to get a lot on eBay). I may have made a mistake by trying to trade two at once yesterday, but I wouldn't be dumb enough to mention that I got the deal from a website. I didn't even do that when I got in on the TRU/CC clearance sales; I always say that I heard it from a friend, if asked.

Maybe another person came in and did the same thing that I did? Like I said yesterday, when I traded the two copies of Geist there, neither of the clerks that were working acted like anything was wrong. The person who helped me was a short & chubby black woman. Was that the clerk you spoke to? The other person on duty was a young white woman, probably not older than 20.

i really doubt that this is true for videogames (collectors insurance operates on a whole other level for pieces of art and as you mentioned valuable comics and cards [things that appreciated in value]), you really just need a replacement value endorsement i would think and this would allow you the funds to replace your collection (excluding any crazy videogame that may actually be a collector's piece), the replacement value endorsement is critical especially with items like clothes

Video game collections appreciate as well. Look at the value of a complete NES set 10 years ago compared with the value now...it's gone up by about $5,000. I'm talking about collectors, people that have maybe $20,000 invested in vintage systems and games...the insurance company won't replace that stuff if your house burns down or whatever. There's a cap in your insurance policy for personal belongings which is usually fairly low.

If all you own is a PS2 and 20 games, then it's not that big of a deal. If you own 20 different systems and several thousand games like a lot of us do, then yah, collectors insurance is a must.

Yep, we had renters insurance and had a roof leak ruin all of the clothes in our closet while we were out of town (this was in Tucson, who knew we'd get a roof leak :D). We got replacement value - ie, what it would cost to get the same things. I would assume you would get replacement costs for all your games (helps to take pictures of all of them and put pictures somewhere else). And of course, you would get $20 or $50 or whatever, then use your cheap-ass skills to reaquire them much cheaper.

edit - Rictor, your post showed up while I was composing mine. Yes, you are right, there are limits on total value. I remember we had to add some to ours just to cover the cost of my wife's engagement ring. I didn't have any video games at the time :D.

And Roufuss, I'm telling you, we gots a lot of lurkers here... As much as that situation sucks, it sure is nice that you have other GR's to go to! Just having one I need to be very carfeul.
