Congratulations to everyone who got something from Freeslide. Thanks for the friendly emails and PMs.

If you didn't get all your offers done before FS changed their rules, I found a better method of getting the mini or a 15G iPod or a $250 iTunes GC. A lot of other forums have been succesful in these conga lines, and unlike Freeslide, Freeipods.com actually encourages it!

They even recommend using forums to get referrals!

Here's how the Conga works. I'll post my referral link at the top of the list. When anyone signs up under me, post your referral link, and I'll add it under mine in the list. When I get 5, I'll remove mine from the top of the list, and everyone else's will move up. Since you only need to complete one offer and points credit quickly, the line should move pretty fast, rarely with more than 6 links in it. I'll try to update once a day at 10-11 a.m. (except weekends, when I'll update when I can).

As for offers, I would suggest Ancestry.com if you haven't already used that for something else (but I bet most of us have), with must be cancelled in 14 days but only costs $1.
The wrinkle cream sample costs $6.95 but must be RETURNED within 14 days (the sample) or you will be charged.
Video Professor is also $6.95 and everything but the one video you get to keep must be returned or you get charged.
I like to use "Return to Sender" for these type of things.

UPDATE: I just heard that the site has problems with Hotmail accounts. If you used a Hotmail account, I would switch it to another free email account from the Update Account Info screen.

Wed. Night Update: Added two on the bottom and took another off the top
Wed. Morn Update: Got a PM and shaved another one off the top.

Good idea, but if people get more than 5 referals they are just wasted. IMHO it would be better to just move down one link after every 5 posts untill it could be confirmed that they got their referals.
 
Don't forget, you still need to sign up for an offer to count the referral points. That's why it's simply not a 5 post thing because not everybody here is going to get an offer.
 
Well, one would hope that everyone who posts a link has done an offer. otherwise they cant get their ipod either...
 
You guys don't actually believe this will work, do you? Check out their terms of service:

Looks pretty lame to me. Don't expect something for nothing.
 
One question before I do this: does this actually work? Has anyone known someone that has actually gotten a free iPod this way? If nobody does, I'm not doing this. If so, then I will do this.

Yes, I did it and it seems to have worked fine. It was quick and painless over the phone. they gave me a confirmation number. Now I just wait and make sure in a month i don't get charged...

Would like to do that, but that would mean updating once an hour instead of once a day...

I have 3 people on mine, none with an offer, and I haven't done mine either. I'll give the ancestry one a shot if cancelling it soon still gets a point.
 
How's the count coming along on the conga line? My link (6889474) so far has on referral who has not completed the requirements.

Anyone at the top of the list have their five referalls yet? It's amazing how big this thing has gotten in just a few days!

I got my 5, so I took myself off and the next two. I'm hoping to get PMs from ppl who get their referrals so I can move the list along.

I confirm that Hotmail will not work. Yahoo is fine.


Also I was bored and it hit me. Why limit myself to waiting in line on this site? I'm going to hang fliers around town and get my referals faster. I whipped this up to give all you CAG's some ideas. It's a word doc so just click on the dragon pic at the link below to download it. You can just change this stuff to your referral link and off you go! There should be a lot less competition in your local area I would think.
Oh, and to get the little tabs at the bottom that people can tear off? All I did was take the text in paintshop, flip it 90 degrees and pasted it into the word doc. Enjoy!

I got 4 people now. No one completed the offers. Still waiting for someone here to say they got credit for cancelling Ancestry

Well, I canceled ancestry and got a confirmation number. Is that the same? Since they didn't charge anything to my card its kinda hard to get credit back. If you mean credit on freeipods.com, yes they gave me credit for signing up and when i canceled it stayed credited.
