CAGiversary!
Since some of the games in the sale are definitely worth more than $5 in terms of fun-factor, perhaps posting your impressions of the games you're enjoying will motivate others to *gasp* spend more than $5 on them! Good games need your help! Post here!

I'm currently playing Gladius (Xbox), Lunar Legend (GBA), Shining Soul (GBA), and Zoocube (GBA).

Gladius [roughly 6 hours in]
-Great use of FFT-style gameplay.
-It feels more open-ended then previous tactics games, and has a good assortment of battle types. King of the Hill, Do-the-most-damage, Zone Control (like king of the hill with three spots to hold), destroy the other team's statue first, and a few others that I can't think of give a nice break from straight-up battling.
-Button combos and sliders give you something to do while attacking, as well as determine how much damage you do.

Gladius Fun-Factor Value :: $30

Lunar Legend [also around 6 hours of gameplay]

-Great looking sprites
-Tinny, washed out music that would be good if not for the compressed sound
-So far the story is fairly generic, and somewhat predicable, but enjoyable nonetheless
-Battles are somewhat lacking in the strategy department. If not for Auto Battle or "Tactics" scripts, I probably would have put the game down by now out of sheer repetitive boredom. Random battles happen very often, so hitting Auto when you know you'll win anyway is a great feature.

Lunar Legend Fun-Factor Value :: $12-14
**********************

Shining Soul [2 hours]
-poor excuse for a Diablo clone
-Picked an archer; gameplay is basically "charge multishot while walking away from dumb ass enemies, turn and fire, repeat"
-Speaking of dumbass enemies, these things take the cake. They zero in on you once they spawn, but don't seem to pursue you very effectively. They'll pause inexplicably in their charge and let you pummel them senseless.
-The closest thing to fun in this game are the boss battles, but even they run off a set script that takes about two cycles to catch on to. You may take damage for the first minute of the fight, but after that it's gravy
-Sprites look like the artist had a hangover while working on this game

Shining Soul Fun-Factor Value :: $5
**********************

Zoocube [roughly 2 hours]

-Entertaining, fast-paced puzzle game
-Quick reaction time while planning ahead for your next move
-Feels like Tetris Attack (though the actual gameplay is totally different)
-Only problem so far is when the shapes scale back to fit 5 on a side (i.e. when you are screwed anyway), they are hard to see on the GBA screen. Some of the shapes are too similar to be distinguished at that distance.

Zoocube Fun-Factor Value :: $15

I picked up a few cc games ,

I'm playing Voodoo Vince witch is a fun game I'd probably never of played if it was'nt $5

I've been playing mostly NFL Blitz Pro and MLB Slugfest 2004 - I'm not getting into any of the others until I finish a couple of games I'm working on.

However -

NFL Blitz Pro :

Positives - Responsive controls, sometimes funny commentary, terrific two player action, good balance and decent AI

Negatives - No online play, can get boring single player, sometimes annoying commentary, not even close to realistic, sometimes hard to call the right play as they aren't explained very well

NFL Blitz Pro fun factor value - $15

------

MLB Slugfest 2004

Positives - Easy to get into right away, terrific two player game, lots of options, very addicting

Negatives - The computer can be really lame sometimes, commentary can get annoying, very bad pitching system (set up mostly for hits)

MLB Slugfest 2004 Fun Factor value - $15

-----

Oh, and :

MOTO GP 2

Positives - Let's you play your own songs. That's about it.

Negatives - Everything else. I hated this game. Once I realized the learning curve was ridiculously steep, I decided to trade it away to a member of these forums. But since I'm getting a game I wanted, this was worth the $8 it cost me ($5 from CC and $3 to ship). I'm sure the game is fine for motorcycle fans, and even though I love racing games and have put at least 100 + hours into PGR 2, I just can't recommend it.

So far all of these games were DEFINITELY worth $5 to me. Moto GP 2 only because I managed to trade it, the other two because they're fun two player games and can kill a half hour to an hour easily.

I snagged Super Bust a Move 2 and me and my wife have been playing the hell outta that game. She loved the one on the Saturn, so when I saw it show up at $5 I knew I had to get it.

She's actually pretty damn good. We usually play the first one to 15 wins and we are always neck and neck. Good fun.

-----------------
Megaman X7
The gameplay is really fun in this game, but the gay-ass voice actors just about ruin the game for me. Zero's voice isn't so bad, but X sounds like a damn 13-year-old going through puberty.

Overall, I think this game is pretty decent.
-----------------

Chaos Legion
This is obviously a DMC clone but it's still pretty cool. I honestly haven't gotten too far into it because La Pucelle Tactics is keeping me addicted. But this game seems like it's going to be pretty good.

But like Megaman X7, the voices are really gay.

Street Fighter EX3

Blew through this in a few hours , have all characters and was pretty disappointed in it, just reaks of some crap Capcom threw together for the ps2 launch.

-------------------------------------

Marvel vs Capcom 2 XBOX

I'm getting my ass handed to me in it, either i'm a lot more out of pratice since my dreamcast days of playing it or the difficulty has been tweaked, for once i'm actually thinking the latter, I never remember Jill actually being a challenge in the dreamcast version.
_---------------------------------------------

Star Wars Clone Wars XBOX

Beat in one long sitting, loved every second of it. Fixes damn near every mistake that was in Rogue Squadron 3 as far as both on foot missions and overall mission length. The atmosphere of the game was also quite good, total chaos going on , gave it a war feeling.

Gitaroo-Man

Holy friggin' crap. I've been searching for this game for ages, and when I happened upon it at CC I almost had a heart attack. Yoink. Started playing, and holy friggin' crap, is this game fun. I'm a huge fan of music games, and this is one of the best I've played yet. I need to buy the soundtrack soon.

every game i bought has been worth the five bucks spent....i've only really played red faction 2 for x-box...it's kinda fun while awaiting halo 2

The only $5 game I've played so far is Def Jam Vendetta, which I love. I plan on playing a bit of Mario Party 4 this weekend, when I have someone to join in with me.

I got few 5$ games, but most are stuck on my "waiting to play list" I however pop in Jet Grind Radio for GBA

Jet Grind Radio (gba): I was a pretty big fan of the original for DC, and I liked the one for X-box too. The reason I didn't jump all over the GBA version when it came out was because I had my doubts about whether this game would work on the GBA. I think my fears were well founded. First off the control scheme sucks. This is one of those games that really really needs an analog stick to play effectively. Without one you are stuck making wrong turns and jumping in the wrong direction, which is a major issue in this game since time is an issue. Also the challenges are way hard since they usually require presicion jumping and that just isn't possible with the dpad.

Graphically I think the game looks pretty nice on the GBA, my only complaint would have to be sometimes the way the levels are drawn it makes it hard to tell what angle you need to take to get up to the next level, but that's a fairly minor complaint. The levels remind me a lot of the old Dreamcast levels and gameplay is pretty much the same as well.

Sound is nice too, they managed to put a few full or at least semi-full tracks on the cart which gives the game a lot more personallity. Sound was one of the key elements to this series, so it's nice to see that carried over to the GBA.

Overall I probably wouldn't pay more then 5$ for this game, the controlls alone are horrible, but if you can somehow overcome them, then this game would easily be a must own game. I however could not overcome them. It is however, a pretty faithful rendition of the old Dreamcast game and anyone that's a fan of the series should at least give it a try for 5$.

took the word out of my mouth
wonder if we're the same person

Chu Chu Rocket - fun. Puzzle games are fun. there should be more puzzle games made these days

Mega Man Nighttime Emissions - Pretty good. Really nice music.

Bomberman generations - Still in the shrinkwrap

Outlaw Golf - I love HSG3 so this one has a lot to live up to. So far it is tough. I didn''t read the instructions so I have no idea how to play but it seems really hard to hit a straight shot. The greens also seem very fast. The graphics are nice though - and who doesn't appreciate two chicks slapping each other's asses all day? Value: probably $10

bloody roar 4 - i havent played the br series since br1, but this game is nice, its not really deep but it has good controls and lots of gameplay options

marvel vs. capcom 2 - duh it rocks XoD

Guilty Gear X- not as good as GGXX which i had before this game.

My Street - kinda meh...ill have to play it a bit more but i might be trading it soon, none of the games ive played are really amazing or anything...

Dino Stalker- great if u like guncon games

Dark Cloud 2 - great game, lots of fun things to do on the side, unique gameplay (inventions) charming characters

Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance - It's about as average as 3D fighters get. The three different fighting styles per character is pretty cool, but there really isn't anything in the game to make it stand out. A good pick-up for $5 for the multi-player though.

NBA Street - I'm amazed at how long I put off picking this title up. It's a bit repetitive, but very fun overall. I'm looking to pick up Vol. 2 pretty soon now.

Aliens vs. Predator - I haven't played it myself, but my brothers are enjoying it quite a bit. They say it's no Red Alert or Starcrat, but pretty solid overall. They didn't feel ripped off picking it up.

I still need to try out Roadkill and Skies of Arcadia.

I picked up R.A.D., Grandia II, & Grandia Extreme

I haven't put down R.A.D. yet, if I would have known it was this good, I would have paid the $50 when it first came out.

The Grandias haven't even been touched, In fact, none of my games have been played since R.A.D. entered my PS2...

So far out of the titles I picked up I've tried . . .

Roadkill - Xbox
Fun multiplayer game. Large maps very cool assortment of weapons. Many different vehicles to choose from. Very similar to Twisted Metal but with much larger maps. Only played multiplayer so far with a few friends yesterday well worth the $5

Star Wars Revenge Racer -PS2
Fun gameplay super fast. Tried only for a little bit because when I got home I found out the disc was loose in the case and I wanted to make sure it played. Worth $5

Sega Smash Pack - GBA
Played Golden Axe which is a classic. The framerate is a little off sometimes and the music isn't very good, kind of squeaky port. Overall a decent port but not the best.
Also tried Sonic Spinball. Very fun version of sonic much better than I expected. Still haven't passed a level but I getting the hang of it.
Didn't try Ecco yet. Worth $5

Got much more to try out and will get to all of them when time permitts.

Sega Soccer Slam- awesome, worth $25, especially with friends.

Smugglers Run:Warzones: havent played.
RE: Dead Aim: havent played,

Breath of Fire II: Havent played

I cracked open Robin Hood : Defender of the Crown for the Xbox, and I'm damn near addicted! I used to play it on the NES so there's some good nostalgia value here. I keep getting crushed by that bastard Prince John though, gotta figure out a new strategy. The fighting and battle scenes aren't particularly great, but the strategy is the core of the game, and that aspect works well.
This is why the CC sale is great, it lets us check out a lot of games we would have otherwise never bothered with. And on a side note, we're all going to be SO jaded after this sale. Next time you see a $10 game, you'll probably think "Huh, that's too expensive".

Haven't even started. I'm still playing Sphinx and Castlevania: COTM right now, and after that, I have Spiderman 2 to play. I'll get to them eventually.

Stretch Panic:
Already beat short easy game but quite fun. Very weird game have to do a red attack on big breast women in ex worlds to get points to perform and excorsisim on the bosses.

Maximo:
Very hard. And old school style platform. Reminds me of Ghouls and Ghosts (is it based on it?). There are lots of consequences for being killed and saving costs coins.

State of Emergency:
Really fun game where the basic point is to kill and cause as much chaos as possible.

Rygar Similar to DMC. You use a demon yo-yo to slayghter monsters. Fun

DevilMayCry2: I loved the first and this game dissapoints. Way too easy.

Ive barely played Boktai and JetX20 and I havent played SpyHunter2 or Chaos Legion and I dont think i have to tell people that frequency rocks.

Megaman & Bass: Nowhere near as tight as it was on Super Famicom (yes I have the import) but still fun

Futurama (XBOX): Surprisingly fun and addictive. Not as horrible as I'd heard.

Kung Fu Chaos: Good stuff, tons of variety. Kinda like Power Stone but slower.

RE: Dead Aim: Pretty cool, but the control is a bit wonky.

Bloody Roar 4: Damn good, great control but the voice acting is AWFUL!

Haven't tried the others yet.....

Panzer Dragoon Orta: Good overall but a little turned off by the awkward camera.

Crimson Sea: Still in shrink-wrap and will stay there till I feel the need to play for a long time

Capcom Vs. SNK 2 EO: Overall its ok...Doesnt feel as smooth as the DC version but its ok...

Lunar Legend: Dont know whether to trade it off or to open...would love to hear more feedback on it

Vooodoo Vince (XBX): Haven't booted this one yet, but I LOVED the demo and had to have it, especially at $5.

Bomberman Generation (GCN): It's cutsey, I probably won't bother much with the single player. I'll save it for when I have a group of friends over and can take advantage of the multiplayer modes

Pikmin (GCN): Farkin' addictive. I actually bought this one at launch with my GC then traded it in not long after. Don't know why I didn't get into it back then, but it only cost me $5 to rectify that error. Great game, but a bit frustrating at times.

Mega Man Zero (GBA): Well, this game truly makes me wish I had purchased an extended warranty on my SP, cos I'm likely to start throwing it soon. Great looking and well animated though.

Mega Man Battle Network 2 (GBA): Last verse, same as the first, little bit louder, little bit worse.

Boktai (GBA): Truly an interesting game. I only played it about an hour, but the sun sensor isn't just a gimmick, it's really well-integrated into the gaming experience.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Wrath Of The Darkhul King (GBA): Okay, I'm a huge Buffy fan...figured this would be worth the $5. I was wrong. Usually Natsume games are decent, but this one was a steaming pile. Horrible controls, awful graphics, ridiculous sound. The only neat thing was the stills from the show during the story scenes.
