A sugggestion to the mods, admins, CheapyD...

CAGiversary!
Why not change the confirmation email you get when you sign up for the forums to include links to the relevent sticky threads for new users, too? I.e. the rules, acronymns, trading guide, etc. There seem to be a lot of new users lately who probably don't think to check all the forums these threads are scattered across, so they'll ask questions that are obvious to everyone who's been here for a while. Why not start them off right? Would the text of the automated email be real hard to change?

At first I thought, "Great idea," but really, if they're not taking the time to read it in the forums, they're not going to click on it there either.

I'll refrain from expressing the rest of my opinion, but it involves only having maybe two mods who actually DO anything about it while the rest ask for illegal downloads or just sit on their fucking thumbs or never show up to begin with.

Oh wait, I guess I didn't refrain. Ah well. Whatever.
...i know my thumbs arnt comfortable, so those people are weird.
its not for thumb comfort

I certainly don't read any confirmation emails thoroughly enough. As much as its a good idea in theory, it'd probably not be used by the new users enough to be worth it.

Allows us to weed out the weaklings.

In Soviet Russia, n00bs scare YOU!

See, I used to be all for that, but lately I just don't have the time, energy, or heart for it. It's just not fun anymore. I've been posting less because it's hard to find anything interesting that doesn't say "CC!! DEALZL)R!!! TRADEZLOIST!!!! OMGOZRREAEA!!!"

That's alright, it'll be fun again when CheapyD comes back and throttles some mods and layeth the smacketh down on the n00bs.

He should make you a mod. You would lay down some divine punishment on these n00b scum.

It is not just newbs though. People who have been here a while have also posted in the wrong places (I would say 1/3 of the threads I moved were by people with more than 50 posts).

Yeah, and monkeys with blue scrotums might fly out of my ass...

Those are the worst offenders.

Tell us how you really feel Banky!

Another great statement for my Jock Strappin thread. Teeheee!

But if just one person read it, it would be worth it.

But you see, the person who would actually take the time to read it probably wouldn't be someone we'd have to worry about in the first place. The ones who NEED to read it don't, and probably never will.

*chuckle*

I agree.

I have a feeling that I may have to return to those old ways. I've tried to be more moderate and not just jump in and feast upon the fatty ignorance that is the posts of noobs, but thier numbers have grown so fast that I may just have to fall back into some old habits.
Bring back the old JSweeney! Even I'm starting to lose patience with all the n00bs.
I don't know... he might get so rowdy bitching at the noobs that he'll turn on us... like in the old days... Can we risk it?

Eh...it livens up the place. :D

Personally, I'm fine with either option. I haven't had very much time online as of late - not sure if anyone's noticed, but I haven't really been here very much during this summer. Less idiocy would be nice. On the other hand, flaming the n00bs is undeniable fun.

Your call, Cheapy. Throwing it in the e-mail couldn't hurt, so you might as well do it. Besides...we'll still have plenty of people to flame, because the most oronic n00bs won't read the e-mail anyway.
