Verizon is going to be giving away one millions microsoft points during the free live weekend. You can find out more info here: http://www.richerdeeperbroader.com/xbox/ Click on the what's next section to find out about the free points. Looks like it will be 500 points per person. There are also a whole bunch of other contests as well.

Do you know how little 2,000 is? That'd go by in less than an hour with the correct publicity.
 
I'm pissed about the fact that it says they were going to be given away on March 31st, yet they started giving them away today. I'm sure people did quite a bit of hording as well.
 
worst promotion ever

if i would have been in charge, i would have given them away in 400 point increments instead of 500...that would give you enough to get a decent arcade game and it would increase the amount of winners from 2000 to 2500. secondly, i would have had a system in place so that only one code could be used per xbox console. thirdly, it would have been nice if they would have had an official starting time for this promotion instead of just randomly starting it a day early in the middle of the afternoon without warning. and finally, it would have been better if the contest would have been a) completely random or b) involved skill or meeting some requirements (like play a certain amount of matches in a certain game for 200 of the code winners, get a score of over x in some arcade game for another 200 of the code winners, etc.)
 
I seem to remember them saying that I could check back on MARCH THIRTY FIRST to get my 500 free points. So I was going to stay up until midnight so I'd get first dibs.

Today is MARCH THIRTIETH and the points are all gone.

What a bunch of cocksuckers. Verizon, I mean, not the people who got points (well, maybe the ones who applied for more than 500 and got 'em). Sigh.
 
If you can only use one code per gamertag I will have 2-3 codes to give out later once I think of a cool way to do it.
 
They should've made people enter their Gamertags on signup. It could've then checked them with a database of existing tags, so one douche couldn't sign up for 7 and screw 6 people out of them.

I got my 500 points; I'm happy.
 
Yeah, I missed out too. Quite a crappy promotion. I really expected it to be done better than this, but hey, what do you expect from verizon? Ah well, grats to those that got their 500, and a big fat fuck you to those that got more than 500. Then again, I guess it's not the people's fault that a gamertag wasn't required, just an email. It's verizon's.
 
Bummer, I was excited that this promotion coincided with me finally getting my 360 so I could snag Geometry Wars. Ah well, it's only points =/
 
im sure some of those points will end up coming back when they figure out that people signed up for more than 500
 
If anybody has any extra points could you please send me a code ? I was really looking forward to those points so I could pick up Geometry wars and when i went to check today they were all gone. Any help would be grreatly appriciated
 
I too would love to get 500 points so I can get geometry wars, but I don't expect it. A big fuck you to Verizon for this, makes me even more satisfied I don't have their HORRENDOUS "network"...bastards.
 
Yeah, very disappointing promotion.

I was hoping I'd get a chance at some points for some themes/gamerpics. I've got all the arcade games right now, but I'd rather not pay for the themes/gamerpics.

Ah well.
