Added that to OP. And all you have to do to get a Gamertag is register a hotmail/msn account. Not really that difficult.

And pay for tickets, air travel, food, and a room....yeah that's much better than winning a contest that provides all that.
 
Hey I never said it would be cheaper, I said it would be easier

If you write for a site, you don't have to pay for E3, just the air travel and hotel costs (usually split between X amount of people)

I didn't say more expensive, I said better which can probably be considered easier since you had to work X amount of hours to get the money to pay for everything.
 
Or just sell off all those reviewables you get in the mail for free :)
