Someone playing the Demo for Super Mario Galaxy

Game seems awesome. I prefer the more linear paths over the free-roaming mario games. It keeps my interest longer. Looks like they kept a lot of the style (fonts, icons) from super mario sunshine though.

Yeah, I thought the conference was interesting.

Very nice job finding that video. I'm going to see what other stuff jeux france has.
How you can say the conference was a snooze is beyond me.
i guess "snooze" is too strong of a word...lol

i just didnt get excited about much...i was hoping to get more info on VC and online plans. i feel that those 27 games that are playable wil more than make up for the weak confrence

I love pimp slapping the Goomba.

I am never going to get tired of that.

There should be a minigame in Warioware where you just pimp slap Goombas over and over.

No one mentions the orchestra conductor game?

And the blue and black Wiimotes??

Everything seems to be pretty intuitive, after the winner played Tennis, and this kid playing Galaxy.

Nice video! I am liking the creative use of the controller(s)!

I was wondering if they will bundle WiiSports with the system. Any thoughts?

At this point, I feel WiiSports or Duck Hunt will be required.

$250 base system, $300 action pack that includes duck hunt and gun case???

Unfortunately, if you head over to joystiq.com, third party titles do not handle well.

Well, they've got 6 months to shape up.

Yeah, watching the demo of Red Steel on G4 last night did not leave me with high hopes for that one. The sword fighting was pretty bad and the gun controls looked extremely hard to aim.
What is even more disheartening is this:

That guys seems to be all over the place. Not sure if it is the game or just him.
I thought he did pretty well, considering it's probably his first time playing the game. If he was walking into a wall for 5 minutes, then I'd be worried.

someone should make a sticky with all game play footage of Wii games and nothing else no replies no nothing

anyone know who to talk to?

Yeah, I wonder about that. How much is questionable design, and how much is the expected learning curve for a new control system? Mario Galaxy looks perfect, but Red Steel does indeed look a little questionable (Okay, not Warhawk-doesn't-respond-to-the-controller-tilting-bad, but questionable). On the other hand, playing Timesplitters with the DualShock for the first time was a total mess for me, too, and that worked out fine.

Mario looks like an absolute BLAST to play. I love that it incorporates the remote, but doesn't try to reinvent the wheel. The Mario wheel, that is.

Red steel did look like total shit, and the guy playing metroid was doing pretty well for his first time. That gives me confidence that I'll be able to pick it up. Think about it - did it not take time to get used to dual analog? Everyone I've taught it to has lots of trouble at first using TWO (omg) joysticks at once. But you catch on.

And I agree with trq about warhawk. If someone who is MAKING the game can't even fly worth two shits (or land for that matter) in his OWN game with their new 'intuitive' control scheme, then there's something wrong.

Hopefully it's just that people need to get used to it. The UbiSoft guy playing Red STEEL at Nintendo's conference did a great job and didn't look like he was having trouble at all. He's had hands on practice before and that's probably all everyone else needs.

Matt C (IGN Cube/Wii) said that MP3 was way too sensitive to the remote motion and that video seems to agree with him.

I dunno, I'm really happy you don't have to flip up the controller to make Mario jump, but this spinning thing seems to fall flat in the whole "a whole new way to play!" department.

With that said, I'm looking forward to that game more than anything. I'm going to slap so many Goombas, it's not even funny.

I think the guy playing Red Steel was having issues b/c from what I heard, the sensor bar was near the floor so he was having to aim the controller at that while the action played out on the huge screen above him. Not easy to do. I still wasn't really impressed by RS though.

Matt didn't say that it was way too sensitive, he noted how pixel perfect the control is and said that you have to be careful to control your movements.

The Wii-mote offers up the potential for a new degree of precision aim, but it's not as though you pick it up and the sun shines down from the clouds as a chorus of angels sing. The sensitivity on the Wii-mote is so pixel perfect and so completely sensitive that it can be jarring. A very minimal flick of the wrist can send your on-screen reticule whizzing from the bottom-right corner of your screen to the top-left and so you have to be careful and conscious of the way you play and move.

The Nintendo booth was very disappointing...

The reason being, is that they split the section in half. DS and Wii, The DS was ofcourse available to play, but in order to go into the room with the Wii and its games, you had to stand in a line that went around Nintendo's booth and the wait was about 4hrs. It could have been good on the inside, had I waited , but I didnt like that fact how everything was closed out. Same thing with PS3, you had to stand in a huge line to sneak a peak and play some games.

Sonic, Tony Hawk, and Excite Truck, look like basically the same game. Differnent tracks, different characters but its the same game.

Sorry went off topic. Mario looks good, but not sure how much I'll enjoy it. I like to relax when I play games, having to be up and shaking a lot might not be so relaxing.

A real man would've waited an eternity.

Seeing the video got me thinking about the whole remote concept... I'm wondering how many people are going to get carpal tunnel syndrome playing with their Wii? I mean, that's alot of wrist moving, and with the whole nunchuck thing.. a switch technique is almost out of the question

I promised myself not to associate the name with any sort of innuendo, but damn...

If I was gonna get carpal tunnel's from something like that I would've gotten it years ago, believe me.
