GR is clearing out their stock of Playstation one games for $2 a piece. Get them while they last.

DEAD: Ended 8/7/06 Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game

Receive an extra $5 PER GAME when you trade in 3 or more games. Games must have a used price of $7.99 or more to qualify for the extra $5. Also, 2005 and 2k5 sports games and newer WILL count for the bonus.

The employee must adjust the trade-in price of the games manually, but there is an option in the computer specifically set up for this deal. It is option #2 and will say something along the lines of "Trade 3 or More Games & Get an Extra $5 for Each Game". The employee must do this for each of the games that qualify.

75% off Select New Games & New Accessories

Please note: The prices listed are the 75% off price.

This sale is also good at regular Blockbusters (YMMV at franchised locations), but your selection there is obviously going to be limited compared to GameRush stores.
Ask them to look up "NIN-NDS Polar White". Kinda complex if you ask me. The two near me have both stated that none are "on order" but it's possible that they might recieve a few. I'm hoping that the number changes in a few days.
Dammit, the word was Polar, not pearl.... I knew it started with a P, no one corrected me when i said pearl, ah well, hopefully this'll bring me some luck in finding it now.

Okay, CAG tip of the day. It is not necessary to make a post to "tag" a thread. Just click on thread tools and then subscribe to the thread.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

A good amount of price drops this week on new games. All of the Atari games have now dropped to the $19.99 price, so if you have any Matrix: Path of Neo's or Marc Ecko's Getting Up's left, trade them in today or suffer the consequences tomorrow.

Some other notable drops:

WarioWare Twisted (GBA) - $9.99
True Crime: Streets Of New York (Non-Collector's Edition) (Xbox) - $9.99
Mortal Kombat: Deception (Xbox) - $9.99
Tekken Tag Tournament (PS2) - $9.99
Metal Gear Solid 3 - $7.49 (after the 50% off sale)
Eye Toy: Operation Spy w/ Camera (PS2) - $9.99
Wild Arms 4 (PS2) - $19.99
Medievil: Resurrection (PSP) - $19.99
True Swing Golf (DS) - $19.99
Sonic Rush (DS) - $29.99
Peter Jackson's King Kong (Xbox, PS2) - $19.99

... just kidding :D
That is an awesome price on Wario Twisted. Anyone who doesn't buy it at that price needs to be smacked (especially if they have GR credit sitting around). I might buy another one. I have no idea why they keep dropping things like that - it is still $19.99 MSRP, right? I wish they'd drop Sonic Riders - I'm holding out for $19.99 in GR credit on that - preferably less.

My GR has multiple MGS3. I might just get one now (though I'll still probably wait for 75%).

Tempted on Wild Arms 4... Hmmm...

Thanks for the update on the trade-in prices Botticus. I was going to ask what Echo Night Beyond gets these days (I see $6 on March 2nd). I got one for $5 at CompUSA that I might return. HOWEVER, if the $5 bonus starts tomorrow (as deals tend to start on Tuesdays) I'll have to keep it. Or maybe we'll see nothing like the last few months :D.

Oh yeah, I asked about the $5 bonus trade-in deal, and they said there was nothing in the map about it. (I didn't actually look at the map, but they said it was one of the smallest maps ever, so I don't think anything is happening anytime soon.)

I was afraid of that... I was told by the manager of my store "June". This week is simply the first opportunity for that, and I guess it's not happening now. There's still lots of time in June though (didn't JaysonR hear "end of June"?).

I'm trying not to count on this sale - pretty much this one copy of ENB is the only thing I'd have to return soon if I think the deal isn't happening. Otherwise I'm pretty much bringing all my trades to EB. With all the various bonuses, they come pretty close to GR, even if the GR deal ends up being $5/game. The big advantage to the EB deal, of course, is that there is no minimum value requirement on the game (sounds like GR will have the $9.99 sale value minimum). So most of the cheapy stuff I have from CC and Kmart probably wouldn't work at GR anyway. Plus I can preorder things like Children of Mana and pretty much be guaranteed of getting it at EB :D.

Is anyone else finding it harder to get your credit onto gift cards. Its seems the stores around me are all pressuring traders to leave it on the account at the store. No one has flat out refused to put the credit on the card, but lately you have to repeat yourself and push for it...

Hmmm... Except for the "are you going to rent or buy anything today" comment at my local BB (after they put it on the card) I haven't had any issues. I went to a few BB's on the East Coast 2 weeks ago and at more than 1 they didn't know how to put the credit on the value cards, but figured it out eventually (or in one case just gave me a gift card) and apologized to me for not getting it done quickly :D.

As for the newbie question "how long do these deals last?": which deals? The 50% off is ongoing until it hits 75% or they decide to get rid of everything or they decide to take it off clearance (there is no set outcome or date for that outcome :D). IF the $5 bonus deal comes back, it will presumably have some sort of end date. Usually, unlike other stores, GR deals run more than a week though - sometimes a month or two. In the past, however, they've pulled deals BEFORE the end date (trade 3 get any used for $5, for example) with little warning.

I guess you do learn something everyday. Thanks Shipwreck.
It's there, just linked in the middle of a paragraph.
I'll go ahead and separate it out. I should know that paragraphs aren't CAG friendly. :)

Edit: Okay, I think that should do it.

i found Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner at a BBV today for $6.99 and traded it in to ebgames for $10 (before bonus)! If you can find any of these, it's another good way to convert credit.

I believe its going for about $30 used online. You could have probably sold it here for $20 right away...

Got back from Gamerush, they couldnt find anything under the NIN-NDS Polar White either.

Ah well, guess ill just go sunday morning and hope i get lucky.

I mentioned this before, but just want to tack this onto the new thread - in case anyone is interested and wants to take their chances on DS game preorders coming in (let alone the Lite), Star Fox DS and Final Fantasy III are available for preorder :D. Maybe if enough people preorder DS games it will light a fire under them to get and deliver the damn things. At least now I have enough credit built up at EB (thanks partly to games from GR) that I can get any that don't come in over there if I have to, and not shell out cash for quite a while.

So... Just wondering when we'll get the first report of a $6 trade-in value for Matrix or Ecko. And they will blame Shipwreck no doubt (see the PG thread)

Picked up SSX On Tour and Silent Hill 4 for $10 yesterday... forgot to look for WarioWare Twisted, but I think they had that at my other GR so I should be able to snag it.

Traded in my last Path of Neo to cover those two games.

In another genius GameRush sales idea, they had the Silent Hills locked up behind the counter so it took them about 10 minutes to find them (I had called earlier in the week so knew they had some new copioes). Definitely need to hide those clearance games that you're trying to clear out.

I got rejected trying to put my credit onto a gift card... Guess I gotta try again with a different employee

I just tried to pre-order a DS Lite and was told that they're not doing that. They had no idea what I wanted. Isn't that against the whole idea?
Mark Ecko's Getting Up still trade's in for $19..as of an hour ago.
Unbelievable. Even GR is usually not this stupid. They dropped the new price on that to $19.99 on Sunday along with the rest of the Atari games.

As of 6/6/06 in Blockbuster Gamerush, Sugar Hill, GA

PS2 Metal Gear Solid 2 GH - 1.25
PS2 Lego Star Wars GH - 6.00

I thought I would get $20 for both according to the Trade-in value list, but I'm not complaining.
Unbelievable. Even GR is usually not this stupid. They dropped the new price on that to $19.99 on Sunday along with the rest of the Atari games.
Wow!

I picked up a used PS2 memory card for $8.50 today that had just been traded in on May 16th... I thought it was just traded in as they had it behind the counter, but I noticed the sticker say 5/16. So I'm not sure what they means for them taking used accessories or not :D.

However, I did see a BB rep in the store talking to the manager about how to rearrange things. She was talking about emphasizing the fact that they are a GameRush by moving some more game stuff up front (the clearance stuff is already up there). It's not much, but it is a positive sign amidst all the negatives we hear about.

Oh, and I was able to move another set of MMAC and SH4 from GR to EB transforming $20 of GR credit into over $28 of EB credit. And they still have about 4 more of each :D.

What else did you trade in with them? I got an SH4, probably gonna stop by my other GR soon and get another MMAC, then I need to find two more games. Damn K-marts aren't helping me any.

Hmm... io, do you remember what games were and were not yet in the system for DS (other than Starfox and FFIII that you posted in this thread)? Just trying to figure out what to preorder at GR and what to preorder at EB. Thinkin about moving my Lost Magic preorder to Mario Hoops if they have it, since it will probably be a bigger release.

I actually traded 8 games. I managed to pick up a few from CC for $3.96 - R&C GC, Tenchu, plus stuff like Constantine and XIII ($2.96 and $1.96 on those). I didn't make much on any of them except the GR ones though, but since at this EB they give me the "double bonus" for preordering it was worth it. I preordered Okami and Mario vs DK 2 for DS. I will switch the GR Okami to Super Paper Mario if they ever add it in there...

GR does NOT have Super Paper Mario, Phantom Hourglass, Mario 3-on-3 bball, Mario vs DK 2, and Children of Mana as far as I know. I need to go in there when I have more time and ask to look through the whole DS list to double check though. I had a newbie clerk today and she probably didn't check every possible spelling (though she did check Legend of Zelda, Zelda, and Phantom for that one). I want to see what they charge for Phantom Hourglass as EB has it listed for $39.99 (more than any other DS game). If GR comes up at $34.99 I'll pay in full when I preorder - their inability to adjust prices on preorders can work in your favor on occasion :D.

Botticus, if you go in ask about Contact - EB has that listed but I haven't checked GR. I think it is $29.99 at EB (all the other games except Zelda are $34.99 at EB). Also, EB had Magnetica in today - didn't see it at GR.

>_> My BB says that limit one title per customer, so I came back the next day and it had my record of trading that game.

So how do I bypass this? T_T

I sure how Getting Up stays at $19.

They will only let you trade one of a game ever? I've never heard of that at BB/GR. But can't you just go to another? That's what I'd do anyway. I usually self-limit to one of a title per location myself anyway (with occasional exceptions when the gas/time usage isn't worth the trouble). There are still several BB locations within 30 miles of me where I don't have trade accounts though :D, and that's even after 3 closed down.

Oh, and I was able to move another set of MMAC and SH4 from GR to EB transforming $20 of GR credit into over $28 of EB credit. And they still have about 4 more of each :D.
Sorry for being ignorant, Silent Hill and Megaman Anniversary were both PS2, right? Thanks.

Unfortunately I forgot my Lost Magic preorder slip, and I continue to have bad luck getting the clueless guy when I go there, so didn't bother asking about preorders. Just bought my MMAC and left. Quickest trip ever!

I really do need to start preordering at the Macedonia GR... it's a less convenient location, but so far the people there seem to have a better handle on the whole game store situation.

Thanks for the update on the preorder stuff... I think I'll move my $5.17 preorder deposit for FFIII at EB over to Mario Hoops or another one of the games GR doesn't have yet.

Yes, PS2. MMAC for GC gets $3 less at EB for some reason. I think XBox SH4 gets the same as PS2 though.

Botticus, Mario 3-on-3 bball for some reason was not even on the EB preorder sheet, but there are probably others you could do (Contact, Children of Mana, MvsDK2, etc). I was just going to say the nice thing about EB is that you can use the web site to see what they have available for preorder - but lo and behold, "Mario Hoops: 3-on-3" is on the EB web site. So maybe you CAN preorder it in store, I just didn't see it in their preorder binder at the counter today. But if they don't have a part number for it they can't - maybe they can look it up though.

Good to know about that combo. Tried another GR and they were equally useless about DS Lites, and this was from a manager I consider reliable. Time to transform $70 in GR credit to something.

Yeah I have pretty much given up on the DS Lite at GR. I am just going to go to CC and try to use the $15 off $100 purchase coupon on it. Even if it doesn't work I will get the free case.
Anyone know the trade in price for MMAC for XBox at EBGames?
Don't know, but it seems XBox and GC versions of things are getting a bit less now. It used to be the complete opposite (PS2 was less). I can kind of understand with the Xbox because it is now the 'old' system. For example, if the latest prices are correct, Burnout 3 for PS2 nets $9, but for Xbox only nets $3. (This is at EB by the way). So MMAC might be $8 like the PS2 version, or possibly $5 like the GC version. Best to ask at an EB/GS first.

I was just going through my receipts and, so far, I have been able to convert $70 of GR credit into $102 of EB credit. Not bad, considering the GR credit cost me about $35 in real money. So $102 in EB credit for $35 in real money. Makes those DS game preorders pretty damn cheap :D.

Well, damn, Botticus, you are ALL OVER the wiki today! Maybe I can get some actual real work done today :D.
