I'm sorry if this is off-topic, but I have a question for all of you from Seattle. I grew up in the area (down in Lakewood, to be exact), and spent a lot of time in the city over the years, but I haven't been back in over 2 years, and I'm heading out there for the Labor Day weekend. My girlfriend is coming as well, and I just wanted to get some suggestions for what we should do, where to go, etc. Like I said, I haven't been back there in a couple years, so have there been any major changes? New places to see/go? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

haha yeah, actually our hotel is just a few blocks away from there. does anyone happen to know when they are going to be putting out the bumbershoot schedule? i want to buy some tickets for a day, but i want to wait to see which artists are performing on each day.

You can see who's going to be performing at www.bumbershoot.com

I personally can't wait to see A Tribe Called Quest. Bumbershoot is between September 2-4 I think and the schedules for who's playing are going to be released soon. I'd sign up for the mailing list that way you will know when the schedules are released.

Technique beat me to it. Go to Bumbershoot. They've always got good music, good food, and lotsa people.

I'm not sure what kinda stuff you're into, but if your GF has never been to Seattle, take her to Pike Place Market, Space Needle, Down Town (Pacific Place), Sci-Fi Museum, Liquid Lounge/EMP. Green Lake is a nice place to just relax and soak up the sun.

Pioneer Square has lotsa clubs and some great bars, but be prepared for tons of frat boys and the usual scum. Enjoy! I miss Seattle!

check out gameworks from 4 to 7pm, they have half price drinks, appetizers and video games!

And if you can pound a huge double cheeseburger ($10.99) you get get a free $10 gameplay card.

Nothing better than shooting zombies with a belly full of beef

Yep, I hear ya. I'm stuck in Chicago for 2 more years to finish school, but after that I'm hoping to move back. Which is why it is important that my gf enjoys the area while we are out there! I've never heard of the Sci-Fi Museum; where is this at?

Go to the Seattle Film Festival!!!!!!!!!!
Doesn't that end before Labor Day weekend though?
Oh Labor Day weekend... Not sure what to do then.

I was really disappointed by Game On, I spent more time playing Brain Age on the shiny DSLs than I did all the rest of the exhibit.

You should take your GF on an Alki Tour or Argosy Cruise. Hit Pike's Place, maybe the underground tour, or Snoqualmie Falls.

The Sci-Fi Museum is at the EMP, down at the Seattle Center.
