I was just at blockbuster today(Kallamazoo, MI), and they had 50% off most of their new games, and they said on the 4th of july they would be doing a 75% off sale.
Nice! Going to check my BlBu tomorrow. Thanks OP.

Well, there is one interesting bit of info in the OP - they told him the 75% would happen on 4th of July. We have heard in the GR thread that it would be a variable drop (various amounts greater than 50%) and it would start this Monday or Tuesday (June 26th or 27th). I guess we'll find out soon enough about that anyway. I would like it to be before next weekend though as I was planning on buying some of the clearance games that have been sitting there for ages and brining them to EB for the bonus deal, which ends July 4th... Hmmmm...

i knew about the previous one, but its my blockbuster not gamerush, and they nearly all thier games except a few xbox 360 games in the sale, alot more than listed(unforutnaly i only had the cash to buy a couple of games and now im at college so i cant get back there)

Gamerush is blockbuster
Gamerush is blockbuster
Yet not all BlockBuster's Have Gamerush inside them. Meaning that the sale is either a BlockBuster and/or BlockBuster/GameRush Sale. Last Memorial Day BlockBuster only had a 50% off used Video Games and DVDS. I believe BlockBuster/Game Rush didn't have a sale.

GameRush had the same sale over Memorial Day and the sale actually started quite a bit before Memorial Day, but was just not advertised much in normal Blockbusters. They've been having the same sales ever since GameRush stopped doing pre-order deals. In fact, this 50% off sale just went to 75% off today as being discussed in the GR topic. The only way the sales are different is if the Blockbuster is a franchised store and not participating in corporate's sales.

I'm not sure what to do with this thread as obviously people don't realize that the GameRush sales apply to Blockbuster as well and I want to make sure that everyone knows about the sale.
holy crap that would be awesome. I just did the math and i could get some of the 360 games they have for 8.70 thats insane.
Amazingly enough, no 360 games were selected by Blockbuster to be part of this sale. :)
Just for confirmation, this is new games, not used, correct?
Yes, this is for new games. There are currently no deals on used games.

I dont have a Gamerush but got a couple blockbusters that sells games...So you're saying that all games are %75 off except for the 360 games? What about the accessories?

The sale is 75% off of select games only. Look at the GameRush thread stickied at the top of the forum for a list of games.
so no sale on used games?

well this is purelly just a GameRush thing since rarely would Regular Blockbusters would be selling New games.
All the Blockbusters around here have racks and racks of new games. Depends on where you live, I guess. I've got like 50 Gamerush and Blockbuster stores to choose from in Indianapolis...pretty much one on every block or two in the city.

Thanks for the info about this 75% off. I have no Gamerush stores in my area and never read that thread so I wouldn't have known about this sale. I didn't see anything good at the one Blockbuster I went to (Backyard Wrestling 2 for XBox for $2.50 was all I saw) but now I'll check every Blockbuster I drive past.

I don't know of a Blockbuster that doesn't sell new games.

I picked up Brothers in Arms and MGS3: Snake Eater for $5 each, and left the clerk my list. That BB looked wiped out when I got there, but they were just rearranging I guess. They still had a crappy selection though, those two and DMC2 were the only ones I saw.
Why not just change the Game Rush thread to say GameRush/BlockBuster ?
Because that would be almost all that fits in the title and the issue doesn't come up very often.

Ditto to this. I also never go into Blockbuster as I'm really bad about late fees and whatnot so I wouldn't have thought of checking there for a sale on games.

Dunno if adding 'BlkBstr' or something would be helpful to the other thread's title or not, but yeah, I never even though to look there for blockbuster sales.

Blockbuster actually got rid of late fees. Basically, you can keep a movie an extra week with no charge...but after 10 days or so they charge your credit card for the cost of the dvd. Then as long as you bring it back within a month or so, they give you your money back minus a "restocking" fee which works out to like $3. So basically, they sorta have late fees but they are $3 for a dvd being a month late. They are getting a lot less of my money now as I used to forget on occasion, and it would always be when I had like 5 new releases out at once, 3 days late, which was $3.50 a day x 5 + tax. Ouch.

Anyway, I recommend Blockbuster Online to people who have problems returning rentals on time. No late fees ever...you just don't get your next dvd until you send one back. You get 3 out at a time, and if you watch them fast like I do, it works out to around 12 rentals a month for under $20, plus you get 1 free in-store rental each week. In-store rentals here are $3.50 plus tax, so almost $4. It all works out to about $16 rentals a month...pretty good deal. I talked my dad into signing up...he's scared of technology but loves bargains.

------

As for the Blockbuster/Gamerush debate...I say rename the thread from Gamerush to Blockbuster. All Blockbusters don't have Gamerushes, but as far as I know, all Gamerush's are inside Blockbuster stores, so just putting "Blockbuster" in the thread title instead of Gamerush would probably help get more page views. I don't even remember the last GR deal that didn't work at Blockbuster as well. Heck, I didn't even know what Gamerush was until I started reading CAG...the reference confused me at first. Yah, there's a little sign on all my Blockbuster stores that says "Gamerush" but I never noticed it before. I'd never say to any of my friends or family, "Hey, let's go to Gamerush!" They'd have no idea what the hell I was talking about.

So lemme get this straight, all new games (except for X360 games) are 75% off right but does that mean I can buy only the new games that are still sealed or I can buy those plus the rental games (since you all were saying new)?

Sorry bout all this, just trying to comprehend all of this (I'm new to these bargains).

Only some new games are 75% off. Check the list on the other thread that is linked in the first post. They don't apply to rental games, those are previously played and not new.

Same shit, different wording, as far as I'm concerned. To put it simply, I can't return things on time, and I'm broke enough to not be able to even consider renting with those terms, as if I could afford to buy a dvd on my credit cards, I'd just do that. Them charging a price of a dvd will lead to going over my limit/overdrawing my account, etc, etc. I don't have the flexibility to just have it charged to my card if I forget to return it.
Not to mention if their rental prices are anything like they were the month before they started the 'no late fees' crap, pay per view is cheaper.

I also am way too cheap to do any of the online services-- I rarely ever rent, so it wouldn't be worth it. I just do ppv/movies on demand on tv and don't have to worry about it. I've tried to get my mom into netflix as my entire family uses it, but she's not a fan of yet another monthly bill to pay and whatnot-- She'd rather just be able to sit down and grab a ppv when she wants and worry about it coming on the cable bill.
