Microsoft Live 12 month Gold Card Xbox 360 - $35.82 (CC PM?)

Now what I would really love to know is whether or not I can buy a Gold Card and use it on my current XBLive account, even though I'm still only on an old XBox. If so, that would be excellent. If not, more impetus to buy this now and get a 360 eventually.

There's fine print on the back of them that says they are only valid on a 360. I don't know if that's true or not, since I'm not going to risk the money.

Has anybody confirmed if this is online-only? Living in rural PA means having 50 Walmarts within driving distance, so I would not at all mind driving a few minutes to save shipping.

I live in SW PA and I was wondering the same thing. I just ordered an Xbox 360 w/hd from Overstock.com. Now would this card be all I would need to start Xbox live? The premium 360 comes with a headset, doesn't it? I was going to buy one of those starter kits with the headset but the $20 rebate on games offered with the package is no longer good (ran out 6/30/06!).

the premium comes with a headset, this card should be all that you need for live. Also get a free month of live by signing up for a silver, they will give you a free month of gold. Then used the 12 month card.

Yeah, premium system comes with the headset (although it's cheap, mine is already broken and I haven't had my 360 for three weeks!). Even with the XBLA points, until a new $20 rebate hits boxes, the only decent reason to get a starter kit is if you are headset-less because you got stuck with a core.

Thanks for the help. I just called my local Wal-Mart and the lady said they didn't have any 12 month cards. It took ker a good 5 minutes to look and she didn't know how much they were:roll:. Oh well, I 'll try again tomorrow.

Tried a pricematch at Frys.. they called up the local wal-mart. Apparently they only sell these cards online (Mountain View, CA Walmart). Guess I'll bite the shipping bullet.

Yea, I noticed that $20 rebate is expired... does anyone know if Microsoft has an ETA about getting non expired coupons out there?

The kit also comes with Billards :D And some MS points I think.

Has anyone tried PMing this at any Best buy stores?

Do they even take PMs from online offers?

I called wally world and the guy said that they were charging 60 bucks for it...hehehe no thanks.

So I guess I will order online, but how long does this take to come? I need to hop on line soon!

Also does anyone know if you can use the 2month codes from the original xbox on the 360?

I picked up two of these by printing out the Wal-Mart page and trying some local price matching.

The first Circuit City I went to looked the item up on the Wal-Mart site, then called Wal-Mart and found out that the stores don't carry them (online only), and denied me.

Second CC pricematched without any questions asked, and I got the card for $36.64 after tax.

I then tried Best Buy, which normally won't do any online pricematching. They said they were going to call Wal-Mart and see if they have the item in-store (they'll only pricematch if the price is the same in-store as online), but I think they couldn't find the number or something. So, they just went ahead and pricematched for me. Price at Best Buy after tax was $38.14.

I'm now all set for the next 26 months, LOL!

Spyder, you might check the back of those cards because they have an expiration date. Mine expires 6/30/2007, so if that was the case with your two cards the second one would be expired by the time you could use it on the same account. You would have to open up a second account to use the second card before it expired.

Well, from what I understand, I can use both of them right now, and they will "stack". At least, that's what I could figure out from the Xbox.com support pages. I'll e-mail them though, just to make sure.
That's cool. I just wanted to make sure you didn't get hosed on one of them.
No worries, mate. I appreciate the heads up that they expire. Wasn't the whole point of moving to card systems supposed to be no expiration dates, unlike certificates? LOL.

I did call up customer support to verify, and they said they'll stack. Used one of the cards, and it did stack onto my one-month trial. I think I'll hold on to my second card for a bit. Not sure why, hehe. Maybe a better deal will come along, then I can do...ummm...something else with this one, no clue ;p

Sweet. Went to CC and bought 2, I'm now all set until 2009. At first they claimed they sold the 12 + 1 cards, Walmart had the 12 month cards, so they weren't the same thing. So I had to go to a manager and point out in the Walmart description that it said 12 +1. I didn't notice until I left that they didn't give me the extra 10% of the difference. I couldn't bring myself to go back in there for the $3, but it still bugs me. I'm that friggin' cheap.

The first Circuit City I went to (the one that denied me) said the same thing, and I also pointed out the description. Then they said that since it said something about Texas on it, they couldn't match it because it wasn't a "local" deal. I think the Texas thing just said something about how Texas customers could pick the item up in store, or something. I didn't press the issue, and just went to a second CC, hehe.

my cc are real bitches about price matching. i'll buy one from you guys for what you paid if you can get extras. pm me. thanks. :)

In case you guys are having trouble with pricematching. Toys R Us has the old XBOX Live kits on clearence for $29.99. Its the version that comes with Crimson Skies. The codes will also work on the 360. Also the old Xbox Live 12 month cards are supposedly onsale for $19.99. My TRU still has the $29.99 starter kits, couldn't find any of 12 months cards.

Actually, you can get the old Xbox Live 12 month cards (sans the Crimson Skies which isn't BC yet) for $19.99.

If you're desperate, they've got the 3 month editions for $9.99 as well.

And yes, they do stack.
can anyone confirm if the old xbox ones work with the 360? i was under the impression that they do not
I believe they do. I picked up a Crimson Skies starter kit at TRU, but I am going to 2 other TRUs to look for the $20 12 month cards. If I can't find any I'm just going open the kit up to try the code on my 360 later today.

Wow, I had XBOX LIVE KITS for sale and nobody wanted to buy one. I have an OLD XBOX KIT (Crimson Skies) and a newer LIVE KIT (with Bankshot Card)....I find it funny that people will be $35+ for the card when they can be had for less. BUT, still a good deal....nice $15 savings.

Check GAMERUSH though for the XBOX LIVE Kits (Crimson SKies ones)

ditto, if some kind soul has an extra one, I'd love to buy it off them :D
Don't feel like spending a crazy amount for shipping.

Yup. I've already stacked to the max, so my wife got to get a year for $20 :)

^ thanks, bought 2 for instore pickup. It's going to fun to still be able to kick my brothers asses in video games after I move.

It's at $49.99 at CC when I click the link. Even still, that's not really a better deal than Walmart.com, especially if I drive to go pick it up. I'm starting to think I should just bite the bullet at go with Walmart.

Just buy a current xbox live card (non gold), you can still find them around, or get them off Ebay at a fair price....when you get the 360, you can transfer your current xbox live account to it and it will become gold level account for the remainder of what's left on your card. MS didn't want people to worry about having to leaving their old xbox live credit behind so they made them fully transferable

I know this sounds goofy and while people said I could apply the old XBox card to a 360 which I'm sure will work for the American one, will the same apply for a Japanese 360 since I plan to set up a year account on that too.

I picked up an extra original XBOX live kit with crimson skies at Toys R Us, I'll sell it for $36 shipped ($29.99 + tax + media mail shipping and paypal fees = $36) or $26 if you just want the code. In either case I will email you the code after payment so you can test it out (it should definately work with the 360). PM me. If no one wants it, it is going back to the store.
