About fucking time...some of the other tidbits:

Episodes 1-15 digitally "re-assembled frame-by-frame from the best available sources (mostly from original Japanese film negatives), and video and audio imperfections wiped clean wherever possible." In 2007, Media Blasters is also planning to release the original uncut Japanese version of Voltron, under the original translation title "Hundred Beast King GoLion" and the Japan-only sequel series under the translated name "Armored Squadron Dairugger XV"

2. "Escape to Another Planet"
3. "A Ghost and Four Keys"
4. "The Missing Key"

Funny I was just talking to someone today about Voltron. We both agreed that the 5-Lion Voltron was way better than the one that followed... what was it a bunch of cars that came together or something?

funny when I was in college a few years ago, my classmates claimed I was full of shit when i said there was a vechecial voltron......... All they had to do is go on the net and look it up, but they didn't... I remembered this because not only I watched the show, but i had the "Aqua" team toys That series was better than the Lion series, IMHO........ and I do remember the finale where both voltron's team up to take down King Zarkon (or whatever his name is) when they mutated him into a giant beast.

I was so enamored with Voltron as a kid- though I always wondered-

Why the hell didn't they just form up the stupid robot, whip out the "I WIN" sword in the very begining.

Hell- I want to play as Voltron against an entire server of WoW, that'd be a blast... for me :p

I haven't seen Voltron since it ran on Toonami in like 97, but IIRC, it never had like a clear ending. Were all remaining questions answered in the sequel? If so that would suck, because I'd hate to watch it undubbed or even dubbed with different voices.

And stackable lion cases FTW

Well I guess I'm going to have to beg Media Blasters for a corresponding HD-DVD since it was filmed. fuck 480p, I want it in true 720p, 1080i and 1080p and knowing it's been filmed makes that perfectly possible.
How much do you think I can press them? If I can get a preorder of an HD-DVD set for 10K do you think that will do it?

Dairugger XV = Vehicle Voltron

Now if only they'd bring out Light Speed Electric God Albegas (Gladiator Voltron) and Future Robo Daltanias.

*sigh*

Same reason Power Rangers never bothered to get their Zords or whatever they were at the beginning of each fight and stomp on the bad guy before he decided to get bigger. Just makes too much sense.

Somebody mentioned power rangers, and I got pink ranger flash backs

They had a few eps of Voltron at Otakon, seeing it with a few hundred people is a riot, everybody was just laughing and laughing at how bad the dubbing is.

Nice. Between this, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Thundercats and Dukes of Hazzard, I'll be able to buy on DVD almost every show I religiously watched as a young child.

Except Transformers and G.I Joe are OOP and the original publisher lost the rights.

Yeah, but I own everything they released... and those rights won't lay dormant that long.

Lucky bastard. I have Season 1 of Transformers and one GI Joe miniseries.

Sweet. I used to own the 15 piece vehicle Voltron back in the day. Didn't like it as much at first but it definitely grew on me.

Oh, and for anyone who may not have seen it yet, watch Voltron get served on Robot Chicken.

I've been waiting for this release for some time now (I hope they eventually release the Voltron movie as well w/ both Vehicle/Lion Voltron teaming up), and I just saw the Sunday ads for Best Buy this week and wanted to ask if this is true.

I've seen a release date of September 26, 2006 everywhere (including Amazon.com and the misc. Voltron web sites), but Best Buy's Sunday ad yesterday (page 10 of the BB ad here in Charlotte) has it "Available Tuesday" of this week for $22.99.

Can anyone confirm?

 Holy shit, how'd I miss that in the ad thread for this week. Speedy confirms it for you, if that's enough.

After reading up at Amazon, looks like it's complete season 1 (15 seasons), including the pilot episode. This will be a purchase, damn you CAG!

Thanks guys! Looks like I'll be stopping by Target (Office Season 2 w/ Target Exclusive Bonus Disc) and then Best Buy for Voltron Season 1.

Btw, Amazon already has Vol 2 of Voltron up (Yellow Lion) and you can buy them together for around $50 if I remember correctly.

I'm guessing there will be five sets in all? (of Lion Voltron) Sweet - can't wait until Vehicle Voltron now! :)

Most likely... looks like there are 74 episodes in total - 54 original episodes, then an additional 20 when brought to America.

Just picked my copy up at the nearest Best Buy (University Area BB here in Charlotte) and they only had two copies left. (including my own)

Sweet!

WTF?!??!!? I WAS JUST THERE!!!! my local best buy is nutorious for not being able to find anything that suppose to be in stock :(

fuckers. but the good news is I got the batman season 2 and TT season 2 at walmart a few weeks ahead of release today :)
Just finished watching episode 1-4. :D Jesus fucking christ this is the best cartoon ever!
Watched the first episode myself. I'm happy with my purchase.

But Best Buy needs to start keeping TV on DVD together. This whole thing with putting Voltron in the Anime section, DuckTales in the Children's section is just obnoxious.

I am very impressed with the quality of the remaster. I have several of the episodes that were ripped from VHS and put up on Bittorrent and the difference is astounding.
i wonder if I can put all the lion dvd box sets together to form something
yea , less shelf space for your other collections :(

The molded tins apparently fit together with the other sets. Which I would assume means that the Yellow Lion set out in November will have an impression in the back of the tin matching the mold on the front of the Blue Lion set.

I believe this is on the Vol 1 DVD set too - there was a Robot Chicken sticker on my copy.

I have yet to put in Voltron - been watching the entire season of The Office before Season 3 starts next week! :)

That's odd. My copy didn't have a sticker like that on it... Gonna have to look through the set. Did you buy yours at Best Buy?
I got my copy today... Walked out of best buy with a big smile on my face..I am one happy person right now.
Same here. I had that smile on my face from the minute I walked up to the counter and asked for my In-Store Pickup. :bouncy: The customer service rep looked at me kinda funny at first, to which I replied, "I've been waiting for this for 22 years!" She then looked up at me still somewhat confused and asked, "Are you gonna watch this?"

My response?

"HELLZ YEA!!!!"

Does Sony now own the rights? According to a few sites that I've looked at, they're the ones releasing the Tranformers: The Movie 20th Anniversary Edition.

And there's one question that been bugging me, did they ever put the headmasters episodes on DVD? I don't mean the japanese ones, I mean the US version.

Yeah, bought it at Best Buy (University Area) here in Charlotte on Tuesday.

I'll have to check the DVD this weekend when I get a chance to see if it's on there or not - I'll post here when I find out.

LOL, fucken teenager who thinks the greatest cartoon is DBZ...whatever...... Just hearing the opening narration by Prime himself brought a tear of joy to my eyes :)

I was really, really surprised that I was the first person yesterday to ask for it and get the first copy out of the box :)

After watching the first few eps, I realized that the princess needs some serious anti-depressant meds quick as she cries left and right and sounds so depressing lol.
Hey I read (on the ign review of the dvd) that they will be releasing an uncut version later on.
What was cut from the original release?
