Some kids are retarded.
Well, yeah, *that* kind of retarded, too, but this is what I really mean...

I overheard a kid at work (Game Crazy) say "Oh hey it's rated Mature, that means its good."

I went right up to him and told him otherwise. "Look at BMX XXX, DOA Volleyball, Manhunt... they all suck and they're rated Mature. A game isn't good just because it's violent, vulgar or offensive in any way. Some of the best games I have played are rated E and T."

Then I put on my bulletproof vest because I swear to god, that kind of mentality is probably what makes up one of those school shootings kids. Stupid shaq-fu.
 
That isn't retarded so much as hopelessly and desparately virginal. Anything that crosses the line is seen as life improving by the sort.

Just becuz people play violent games doesn't mean they're gonna shoot people at school. Most people don't even use a gun in their life so its fun to play it in videogames. Funny how people always blame it on videogames but never blame it on movies.
 
While I've always thought humorlessness and disability in spelling and grammar were the primary red flags to watch for in preventing school violence

If you read it, you would realize he wasn't blaming video games, he was blaming retarded kids who think because it's violent its automatically good for shootings. And those idiots are the ones who kill like that. They see violence (in anything, bet they react the same way to an R movie), they think its cool, and since they are retarded, probably emulate it.

I think those kids may just have something here. With all the gathered knowledge at the moment, we could say what:
A-Its greatness is so overwhelming, that touching the mere case would cause one's mind to collapse.
M-Superb game, but a few minor greifs.
T-Good, but why waste your money on an avergae game.
E-Terrible, only suitable for use on Gamecube.

I read what you wrote, and you put videogames and violence together even tho it didn't seem like it. If you didn't mean it then you shouldn't even put the school shootings in your sentence.

Heh, I used that simple fact to my advantage.

Last month, made a cool $30 off of Spawn Armaggedon cuz the violent kid thought it would be the greatest game in the world. Now I'm worried about going back to school.
 
Pulp Fiction, gotta love that movie, and John Travolta's role in swordfish was crazy, oh and on topic it is funny how people see rated M and think "wow this game must be great" they remind of that fat kid with the red rider bb gun.
 
First off i thought Manhunt was a really fun game, i definetly enjoyed it... Rockstar makes controversial games, because it makes money, its not that difficult to figure out. Cant say manhunt is the best game ive ever played but i was very happy what i got out of the game.

second, why do some people write these lame ass stories about confonting some employee at a game store, because the person at ::gamestop, gamecrazy, EB:: whatever the case said something stupid. Half the time the stories sound unbelieveable and I know they never happened, and why do you care to speak your opinion so badly? If i overheard someone at gamestop say something bad or stupid about my favorite video game i wouldn't say a thing... some people who come on these message boards are douchebags.

I think that this thread has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that some kids are retarded. I mean, my god, can you people read and actually understand what the other people are saying. I admit I am a CC newbie, but I did read and I definately agree that the original comment wasn't about the games themselves but about the stupid kids that think a game is the best because it is mature being the type that would think killing classmates was awesome too.

The other day i was ina best buy and i saw a guy buying an xbox (contemplating it anyway).

he grabbed an employee and asked him if he could tell him if buying an xbox was worth it since xbox 2 was coming out november 9th. i broke away from laughing cause i knew what he was thinking, but the employee was dumbfounded.

what happened was best buy has these huge X-box signs that just say "X-box" on top of their rack by me, and its like 5 feet long and two feet high. In the lower porition, someone stuck one of those halo 2 nov 9th sticked rite underneath the "x-box" words.

the guy put 1 and 1 together and though x-box 2 was oming out november 9th...

I second that motion. The thing about this mentality that "M means good" causes developers to churn out crap that just has mature content that can attract ignorant gamers. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying just because you buy M games you're ignorant, but if you buy it just cuz it has lots of gore or nudity, and expect it to be automatically good, that's ignorant.
That's why I was worried reading the last EGM that had the Guy's Games article. It had some stuff like "The Guy Game" and "Playboy: The Mansion" which probably aren't gonna be stellar in the gameplay dept, but people will gobble it up cuz it shows boobies. Seems like the next generation of BMXXX. They could be good games, you never know (but I doubt it).
 
I believe stupidity isn't limited to kids. I would have to say that some if not most of all people are stupid.
