A South African inventor unveiled a new anti-rape female condom on Wednesday that hooks onto an attacker’s penis and aims to cut one of the highest rates of sexual assault in the world.

“Nothing has ever been done to help a woman so that she does not get raped and I thought it was high time,” Sonette Ehlers, 57, said of the "rapex," a device worn like a tampon that has sparked controversy in a country used to daily reports of violent crime.

Police statistics show more than 50,000 rapes are reported every year, while experts say the real figure could be four times that as they say most rapes of acquaintances or children are never reported.

It doesnt really prevent rape though does it? I mean, for that to take effect, you've already been given the business, it just prevents...more business being given.

Better than nothin'

Well, it is a female condom. That means that it would stop the sperm from reaching the egg. And it would probably rip through the tissues of the penis (god, is sounds like a freaking horror movie) and might make the male sterile. It'd be a drag to have to wear that thing all the time, though.

that is such a bad idea. Way to turn rapists into enraged murderers. Although i supposse it would give the victim a chance to run away.

True but the guy sure as hell wont ever try that shit again. So it prevents rape for others I guess.

This is a great idea. This amount of pain is nothing compared to what rapists inflict on their victims. As far as I'm concerned, rapists deserve nothing less than castration for their actions.
i don't know how that 57 year old became to making it, I don't think she got raped recently.
The porn site MILF Hunter popped into my head when I read that.

When I first heard about this on Fark.com (quite a while ago), someone replied with a very scary remark:

"Great. So all the rapists will just shove a broomstick up the girl first."

Look. This is a nice idea and all, but I really don't know if it's going to do as much help as it theoretically could.

This isn't new. Its just a new twist on devices that have been around since the middle ages. Those ones were even worse though. One had a 5 inch (or so) long needle that was positioned to skewer the penis length wise.
plus u know there are women who would use it for revenge purposes or evil deeds.
:cold: My ballz just imploded on that thought! :puke:

Man... why do all these thread keep killing my wood? Its the weekend people, I have women to please!
Any scumbag who would attempt to rape a woman deserves to have that thing latched onto their dick. Period.
Agreed

No, not period.

There are plenty of crazy chicks out there and I'll bet if this catches on that there will be chicks who seduce an ex so they can mutilate him.

Also, how about the girl who forgets it's in there after a hard day at work.

I'm all for self defense courses, tasers, etc, but this is an awful idea and the repercussions are not going to be pretty.

He said a guy who attempts to rape a woman deserves it, not any of the other circumstances you listed.

If this thing were to catch on, I'd be surprised to hear even one case of any of the examples you mentioned.

The "period" comment indicated some sort of finality, which I took to mean support for this barbaric attachment. If that was not PF's attempt, then it is an oddly-phrased sentence (yet one that I still disagree with).

As for your second sentence, by way of anecdote: there was a girl at my HS who would come in with bruises and scars every day, saying that her ex-bf beat her. Later forensic evidence and testimony from her friends revealed that she put a padlock on a chain and beat herself in order to get her ex-bf arrested in revenge for his dumping her.

Also, check out this winner: Lorena Bobbit

In statements to police, she explained that she had cut off the penis because her husband was "selfish" and "wouldn't give her an orgasm."

Now - you tell me what's going to happen if this barbaric device gets unleashed.

Like I said, I believe self-defense classes, and with proper training tasers and pepper spray are appropriate but this device is cruel and unusual, and there are some innocent victims that stand a chance of being mutilated.

Doesn't anyone think of the increase in BROOM sales? I mean seriously. That can be circumvented so easly. Just shove a broom up the happy hole to disarm the thing. Swirl it around for some extra fun.

And yes. I also believe this will turn a rapist into a murderer. I mean if some guy is raping you and you piss him off, he's already mentally unstable as it is. You want that extra push for him to just kill you? Damn nuts.

Knowing the way shit is here in the US, it wouldn't be legal. Hell, if you put barbed wire on your property with big ass "NO TRESSPASSING" signs, and a theif hops the fence, and really cuts his hand, he can fucking sue you and he'll win. Man fuck that noise!

Aren't we the country where you can punch a man in the face and then sue that guy because you hurt your hand on his face? :bomb:

There's several reasons I'd want to leave. Preferably to The Philippines or Japan. Mexico or Thailand would kick ass too.

But I want to leave to get away from Emo Hip Hop Rap kids who think they're smart and that their opinions matter.

I want to leave this cesspool that we call "enlightenment" I want to be a sun god ;)

My dream would be to own my own land and a decent sized house in the country side of Scotland or Ireland. Though I would find someway of getting a highspeed connection lol!

I prefer the Philippines. You can buy a island there for around half a mil. Around the price of a house in California if you're lucky. I'd build a Tony Montana style estate with fortified everything. And then I'd have a harem of Asian catgirls and Bunnygirls serving me wine every day while I have my hand down my pants watching Married with Children and whatever crazy zany japanese show is new and exciting.

Otherwise knowing me, I'll probably end up as some stiff busting my ass to own a crappy apartment in San Fran. UGH.

Yeah - Mexico is a great place to be, that's why people are cramming themselves in poorly ventilated vans and off-roading it up into the US.

And you're complaining about judicial systems - Thailand has a real winner:
The 1997 constitution provided for an independent judiciary and the guarantee of basic civil liberties. Courts of the first instance, juvenile courts, and magistrates' courts exist in Bangkok and in each of the provincial capitals. ...
Judges in Thailand are appointed (and removed) by the king. All appointments are subject to initial approval by a judicial commission. There is no trial by jury in Thailand.

You want to give up your freedom so easily, I wonder if you've ever even been to these countries. Why don't you go see the gross disparity between rich and poor in these places (exception: Japan) before you bash on Ameica because some kids are emo hiphoppers.

Actually I am mexican. Been to Mexico and Hondurus several times. I know that there's a huge ratio of poverty to wealthy there. However there's new white cities being built in mexico. The places where white expats go to get away from America and just retire and be lazy. You know the types.

Thailand is a big what if. Sure everything is cheap there, but there's the civil liberties that you bring up. It's a huge thing to consider before taking a huge step there.

Japan would be nice to live for a while but I figure the cost would eventnually overtake me. Hence I'd like to be in a other country like Mexico, Philippines or so on.

I'm not bashing America because some kids are emo hiphoppers. I'm bashing it for giving kids so many rights while disempowering the parents AND the teachers. And anyone else. You can do a lot of nothing if you're actually trying to disipline them.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:
But I could see some crazy woman using it as revenge. the thing can also only be surgically removed.

See, I think you have it backwards.

This current government has so successfully pushed the fear button on these kids - not to mention the helicopter parents pushing group mentality through group activities, decreased freeplay and forced doping of any active imagination - that it's no wonder that there is a large youth segment who is depressed and confused about their lives.

Kids have rights - yeah sure the right to join the military and kill people when they're 18 - but they can't see a controversial war documentary (see how it's done...), hit action flick, or a *gasp* female breast on a movie screen until they hit that same age (kids must have a hell of a growth spurt at 17 years and 11.97 months). Then they have to wait 3 more years to toast the country that they're willing to fight and die for.

You might have half an arguement if you were talking about European kids, but American kids are screwed over by the government/society from their infancy onwards.
