Sony PSP $179.99 w/Free Shipping at Compusa.com

after their stock fell because of less than stellar PSP sales and problems with the ps3, perhaps a price drop actually will hit soon. they have to pull their ass out of the fire somehow.

I think it's too late for that, their asses are burnt. This is a decent price for the psp but I'll wait until the price drops more.

I would be hesitant to buy the PSP even if the price dropped to $150 or even $130. The only PSP game I was ever interested in playing was GTA: LCS, and that one's already available for the PS2 at half the PSP version's price:roll: Too bad because the PSP looks pretty sweet, but the games are overpriced and just not very good IMHO. Plus when it comes to handheld gaming, I'd rather not deal with load times.

well LCS for PS2 is missing the online mode from PSP game, but I agree there are few titles worth playing on the psp

Another handheld gaming machine left in the dust by Nintendo. Sony was trying to use the "extra value" tactics they have used for PSone, PStwo, and soon PS3, but that's not what people want in hand held gaming. Especially when you have to pay extra for memory cards and GPS attachment.

If they included memory card and GPS for the same price I would probably pick one up.

That isn't even what failed the PSP. It's the fact that it LITERALLY is a portable PS2, which is boring. I too admit I thought Nintendo would get flushed when news of PSP and its looks first hit the gaming community. It looked so sleek and powerful. But the novelty wears off when you have crap games.

its not LITERALLY a portable ps2... its a ps2 wanna be clone that failed horribly. if it was an actual portable ps2 itd be selling just as well if not better than the ps2. theres no handheld games for this handheld, just very very bad semi-ports of ps2 titles that look worse and plays horribly. gameboy was cool cuz it was an nes clone, minus the color (people didnt even care about color in games back then). it was very successful because jesus brought it to the world. But jesus has been missing in action for the last decade, presumably partying with god, so we might not see something that cool for quite awhile.

So that's why Jesus is so popular.

God is more popular. You see those MTV music awards where every rapper and their mother thank God? They rarely, if ever, thanked Jesus during the award speeches.

I like all of you somehow thing the PSP has "failed horribly". Its sales are pretty damn good. If sony was smart, they would actually release the PSPs in new colors like the DS lite. That really helps to pump sales.

Didn't they already release the white one in Japan and Europe?

I guess I'm alone here, but I got a PSP last month and I'm loving it (LocoRoco!) ... and I think it has a bright future. GTA Vice City Stories ships in four weeks, and it's going to sell a hell of a lot of PSPs. And there are a ton of other promising games coming soon... Killzone Liberation, Ratchet & Clank Size Matters, Jeanne d'Arc, Dungeon Siege Throne of Agony, Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, Cash Money Chaos, etc.

In other words, it's a great purchase at that price.

I don't think that PSP is a failure (unlike N-Gage), but the numbers do not lie. Nintendo is far ahead. As far as units sold, nintendo ahead quite a bit, but when you look at how much software is being moved on each system, that's where it's clear.

I hate the load times and using the nub for control. I honestly haven't played more than 3 hours on the PSP and I got it at launch.

If you have a launch system go play around with devhook - it really breathed life into my system... and I guess the ability to play any game I want adds to it too. Nothing like try before you buy!
