Yes, it's true. I am one of the 9 people who bought one.

I've got that, the official Atari Lynx carrying case, three games (California Games, NFL Football, and Baseball Heroes), and the AC Adapter. It's almost brand new, as I played it maybe five times and it's been sitting in it's neat little case ever since.

Question is - anyone else own one, and does anyone have any idea how much, if anything, something like that is worth?

My mom calls it my "gift".

Sorry son, you're going to lose points from the judges for that one.

Just a reminder, contestants - you're being scored on style, technique, and originality.

I bought one of these at a Goodwill awhile back for $15. The handheld system came with three games: Electrocop, Gates of Zendocon, and NFL Football. All used along with an Atari Lynx carrying case. I can't seem to find a power adapter, seeing how this thing eats six AA batteries.

Chip's Challenge is one of the best games ever. Nintendo needs to figure out a way to add that to the Virtual Console.

The Lynx is surprisingly cheap to collect for. Given how little it sold, you think this stuff would be more desirable.

I have a Lynx 1 and 2 with about 25 or so games and probably haven't paid more than a $100 total. Very few of the games are worth keeping around. Most of the ones that make it a decent console came late in its life. Blue Lightning, Cyberball, Rampage, and Califonia Games are the early ones worth getting.

Late ones in Raiden, Warbirds, and Ninja Gaiden (only stand alone home port of the arcade original to date). There some other surprises out there I haven't played, especially with some cool scaling effects that were way ahead of their time.

I mildly enjoy the console, though I constantly find myself wanting to kill the guy who made the sound chip. Ugh.

I got one for christmas (the newer version) when the price dropped. It was that or a game gear; never had much interest in the gameboy, as it pretty much sucked. I actually thought Lynx was pretty good, with Paperboy, Gauntlet, and California Games being a few favorites. Batman Returns may be one of the hardest games ever made.

The Lynx was the most advanced handheld for its time. I had one a while ago, but I don't remember what happened to it. I had California Games, Blue Lighting, and Electrocop. The system had a lot of Atari arcade games ported to it. It probably has more games worth playing than the Game Gear did.

I have one complete with box(lynx II) i think i still have some sealed games and complete in box ones also, kung food rocked.

I have about 20 lynx games that I'm about to sell on ebay. If anyone is interested in doing a swap for the whole set before I put them up, let me know.

I've been thinking about buying an Atari Lynx soon. How clear is the display compared to Gameboy and Game Gear? I recently played Game Gear for the first time in years and the screen was much more blurry than I remember.

If they're complete, I may be interested.
Lmao I'll give you half a penny for it.
Half pennies were actually minted from 1793 until 1856 and are pretty hard to find. I would gladly trade my Atari Lynx for a nice half cent.

Here's my wild story of ownership. I owned one Lynx game (jet fighter related) and official system carrying case. I bought them on clearance at Sears when I was a kid. I never did own a Lynx system or know anyone with it. Don't remember what ever happened to that game.

I completely agree. CC is an awesome game, but damn would I like a save state. Hopefully we get a VC on the DSi before long, with Lynx games in tow. Incidentally, I not only have an Atari Lynx, I have two (older and newer style) as well as some wacky accessories (the gimungous D cell battery pack, for example), and I have a lot of games, most with box and instructions, including duplicates for multiplayer games like Warbirds. I actually modded both of the Lynx's at one point to run at a faster clock rate. I haven't turned them on in many years so I don't know if they still work. I think a year or two ago I did turn one of them on and it worked.
Why don't you buy the new lynx game that came out last year? You'll feel really special if you do.

Interesting. I'd buy it as it doesn't look to bad, but the price... outrageous. $48 shipped for a Lynx game? I know it was probably expensive to produce, but still.

Probably due to the fact of thecartridge/card that needs to be made to make the game is super expensive. I still have my lynx, play it on occasion, easily my favorite handheld of all time. California Games rules!

Zaku is actually my favorite Lynx game. There really isn't anything amazing about it, but it looks nice, controls well, and provides a decent challenge (you can adjust the difficulty if you find the default setting too easy). It's pretty short and simple though. At $48, it's hard to recommend to anyone who's not already a big fan of the Lynx, not that the developer was expecting it to appeal to anyone else anyway.

Man, this topic brings me back. Yeah, I have one sitting in my house somewhere. I had a few games, but I only really remember Blue Lightning, California Games, and Paperboy. Good times. I used to spend hours on BMX and Surfing.

I bought a one online about 8-9 years ago along with several accessories and about 20 or so games (all NIB) for about $60-$70 if I remember correctly. I never spent much time with it as I found the blurry screen to make most of the games nearly unplayable. Blue Lightning and Chip's Challenge are the only games I recall doing much with.

Hit me up with that list of Lynx games, I still have the original one I bought when it came out. Lacking in the games department.

I want a Lynx now... I deff will get Pit-Fighter on it. They have sealed copies for $10 shipped on eBay. Lots of sealed Lynx games around that price on eBay. Anyone will to sell me their Lynx and games? Imma order me one this year probably, along with a Sega CD.

I had a Lynx 2 back in the day with a whole bunch of games.

Got me through many boring nights as a security guard on a construction site.

Chips Challenge was my fav, but Klax, Golf and Blue Lightning got a lot of play.

Got an older system. The paint wore off the cart slot because I opened it so much.

I had a bunch of games. Xenophone, Ninja Gaiden, APB, Kung Food, Pinball Jam, etc.

Fun system for the time. I don't know how it would hold up now. It wasn't exactly portable.

I bought mine from a friend used in prob. 1992-ish with 4-5 games for $100 bucks....i know that prob wasnt the best price in the world but i was happy. Bought 5-6 more games on some website back in the day. Loved Klax and Rampart. The best thing was they were so much like the arcade games....dunno if id even call them ports.

Also remember playing Viking Child (platformer) a lot.

Im always hoping to walk into a Goodwill and find a huge lot of games for cheap. Fun system but yeah, you definitely need an adapter cuz it was a huge battery hog.
