Perfect Dark Zero

XboxMaster

CAGiversary!
I've never played Perfect Dark before, all I know is that its supposed to be great. I've seen it a couple times at different places like EB, but never bought it, always thinking, "I'll just buy it later". Then, I decided that I'll just wait for Perfect Dark Zero. Welp, not gonna happen, since Rare cancelled Perfect Dark Zero. So, I guess this thread is about what you think of them cancelling it and telling me if I should buy Perfect Dark for N64.

(P.S. Please no bashing Microsoft for buying Rare)

Hadn't heard that nor could I find anything about it when searching for it on big game news websites...could you supply a link please. If this is true I think MS may have made a mistake in buying a past-its-prime developer as Ghoulies wasn't spectacular (or even really that good at all), Kameo doesn't look to be the greatest thing in the world, and Conker is going to be a port with some extras (i.e. online play, but why couldn't they make a full fledged sequel)...oh well, I guess we'll have to wait and see how everything turns out.

That is REALLY wierd, I could've sworn I saw it, I'll look for my last EGM tonight and browse through it.

I'm POSITIVE that I've seen something about Perfect Dark Zero in one of my mags. And I thought it was saying it is cancelled. I know I wouldn't have dreamt it or anything like that, could someone please help me out and check any gaming mags you got this month and last month? I check my two latest OXMs and my latest EGM. I don't have any other mags that would have any Xbox info, so I suspect it's in there. I'll check them again either tonight or tommorow.

The only thing that I know of that could possibly show that PDZ is cancelled would be that It is not mentioned anywhere on http://www.rareware.com nor has been for a long time. But that doesn't mean anything with Rare. They have always been quite disorganized and scatterbrained about everything in my own opinion. I think the only reason they have been super-successful since they started developing for the NES was because of Nintendo's oversight. Ever since the rumors started that Rare was being bought, I believed it could be true only because Nintendo knew that the reason they did well was because of constant supervision. I wouldn't be surprised if products like Ghoulies continue to be the byproduct until Rare dries up. Same with all the other second party developers of Nintendo that decide to leave Nintendo's side.

I guess it was what Tiki2 mentioned, and I just thought I heard they canelled it. Thanks alot Tiki2, it was really pissing me off that I couldn't find out what magazine I saw it on.

If PD0 were cancelled, it would be MASSIVE news that would be the top headline on every gaming website right now. It's a highly anticipated title, and I believe Rare are contractually obliged to deliver this game as part of their signing with Microsoft.

In response to the question about whether or not to get Perfect Dark for teh 64, I'd say it's worth it. The multiplayer is very similar to Goldeneye (obviously), but you get some cooler weapons (rail gun) and different environments. The single player is pretty good too, although the story gets pretty stinkin' goofy about half way through. That doesn't hurt the gameplay any though.

It's especially worth buying if it's $8 shipped, as mentioned above.
