So I got a Macbook 2 weeks ago and tried to give OSX a 2nd chance before the end of the year. Well a week and a half went by and I still wasnt digging the Mac way so I decided to put up the Macbook for sale on Craigslist. So I went to sleep in wait for offers on my mac. I wake up to find 13 Emails about the computer, 10 of the emails where different people trying to convice me to keep the Macbook. Some people even offered to meet me at starbucks or coffe places for tips. WTF is that all about?

The 3 emails that weren't trying to help me learn OSX were Nigerian scams.
And you bought a Macbook at the wrong time, Leopard is coming in January
January? Apple's website says Spring 07.

EDIT:
But OS X is based on Unix

Does this "higher power" you speak of have noodley appendages? Also, it's a good thing I came in here to read the OP or else I would've thought the title was the strangest insult I've heard since, "Your mom goes to college."

That's weird.

Arrange to meet with all of them at the same coffee place at the same time. Tell each person what another one of them looks like so they all run into each other. Go there incognito with a hidden camera and catch it all on tape. Then post the vid here.

Thats actually what I was going for.

best idea ever.

question for OP: if your only problem is Mac OSX, why don't you install boot camp and Windows? regardless of what people may think about the mac operating system, the hardware is incredible.

how much are you looking for, by the way?

No because everyone through a hissy fit when I did that to PS3 scalpers.

I don't want to throw down $100 on a copy of windows.

Well either way you WILL through down $100 for XP on any computer you buy.

I feel like reselling a brand new laptop will result in about a $100 loss anyway. (and i never suggested you should legitimately purchase windows)

Oh... anyways just schtick with it you spent well over 599 USD on it anyways so just stay with it. I was recently using a iMac G3 I bought on eBay and I gots scurd and confused too. You'll get used to it. Mac ftw (except for games)
you should probably just keep your mac.....it is much much better than using a PC.....

Macs are better if you don't play games. Gamers need to upgrade on a regular basis, and thats the problem with Macs - they cost too much.

Do macs need to ship with windows before people realize this is no longer the case? Mac Pros are upgradeable, and mac laptops are no more or less upgradeable than most pc laptops. I know plenty of people who do intensive gaming (thanks to boot camp/xp) on intel core 2 duo macs. Opinions are one thing, statements which empirical evidence contradicts are entirely different.

PC's are better if you like viruses (isn't it viri or something like that), crashes, and blue screens of death.......

Firefox crashes on me all the time in OSX, and I dont use antivirus and i have never gotten a virus in WinXP

Believe it or not, with just a little bit of computer/software knowledge and some common sense all those issues are easily avoidable.

I've used PC since 1993, and I haven't had a crash/blue screen of death/anything bad happen since 1997, and even then it was probably because in 1997 I was 13 years old and didn't take proper care of my comp.

haven't used a PC in a few years, eh?

can't remember the last time my pc froze or crashed. Haven't seen the BSD in years.

point of the topic is, I tired to sell my Mac because I didn't enjoy it as much as a Windows laptop and instead of taking a $1300 laptop for $1000 people tried to convince me to keep it.

I can't speak for tholly, but i believe he was being sardonic by presenting an equally archaic belief about pcs as that which was presented by the individual who said macs can't play games/aren't upgradeable.

then again, i may be giving him more credit than he deserves. let's leave it at this: for the educated user, either operating system has its benefits. i hardly think we're going to be doing any convincing in this thread, i just though some misquoted truths should be corrected.

Umm, you can set up a pretty decent gaming computer which won't need constant upgrading for one time payout. And yaeh, unless it's working with Photoshop or something video I'd rather work straight on PCs. Even then I can still run Photoshop on a Pc and get by. I just like be able to go into the system registry and be able to pretty much modify just about anything on the computer. now with vista I hear they tie this up with the administrator's accounts for security, but I've read in some mags that microsoft has ways around this and stuff. And I will say this again, until someone figures out how to get Linux to run DirectX I doubt I'll really be switching operating systems anytime soon.

Haven't had a virus or spyware in years and you know you can get viri on Mac OS just as bad as MS, it's just not published as much. Don't buy into those commercials that much. The only reason my computer crashes, well actually not really just slows down is because I have usually 30 tabs open plus 4 other programs that I work on.

You know what, if you don't f your computer up with spyware and goto crappy porn sites all day long, more than likely your computer won't get viruses/spyware/crash etc.. If you don't download fishy crap off P2P, you won't get viruses.

I don't use a firewall, I just use common sense. My computer hasn't had ANY trouble software wise. Yes there's a crash here and there when I open too many tabs, other than that everythings ran perfect.

Same with mac, same with windows.
