It's like the game can't sell on its own merits, so they have to throw in an invitation to the Halo 3 beta (which is instant sales).
I'm looking forward to this game a ton but this has me a little worried.

[14:34] zewuno: Pretty ingenious way of MS selling a no name game
[14:35] zewuno: like putting the MGS2 demo with ZOE
Only difference is that ZOE was a pretty good game (in it's day) where as this game maybe not so much.

True, but before ZOE was released, no one knew if it would be good. We'll just have to find out.Only difference is that ZOE was a pretty good game (in it's day) where as this game maybe not so much.

There's an ad for Crackdown in this months Gamepro and in the lower right hand corner it says that if you buy Crackdown you get an invite to the Halo 3 beta. (Thanks to pimpinc333 for telling me about this.) It says specially marked boxes and for a limited time only.
Awesome, talk about cherry on top.

It's a stupid idea by MS to push copies of the game, and it's a slap in the face to Halo fans.
I hate it when companies make bone-headed moves like this.

That's stupid. Not because I'm not going to buy crackdown (I'm probably not), but beacuse these games have nothing to do with each other.

It isn't like the Halo 3 beta is exclusive to Crackdown owners. This is just a way to push a few more units to people who may have not been all that interested in it in the first place.
I'm really surprised Microsoft isn't pimping the fact that Crackdown is "CREATED BY THE CREATOR OF THE GRAND THEFT AUTO SERIES" more. You think that was automatically push a good number of units.

Yes, but the point is this is an easy way to get an invite that someone who doesn't feel like getting this game will miss out on.It isn't like the Halo 3 beta is exclusive to Crackdown owners.
Halo has nothing to do with Crackdown, besides that it is exclusive to the 360.

And that they are both being published by Microsoft Game Studios.

I had high hopes for this game, but whenever a company does something like this it puts up a warning flag in my head.

Dont worry, SE added the final fantasy 12 demo for Dragon Quest VIII, and that certainly wasnt a bad game. Cant argue with the fact that having a ff12 demo helped moved copies for those who were thinking twice.

On topic... this kinda reminds me of how Brute Force rode on Halo's coat tails with the different bonuses and what not

its just a marketing ploy, and from what I have read about crackdown, it sounds great
...but it's common knowledge that previews always sound positive. Most of what I've heard is that it's a good game, but with some nagging issues all over the place.

Seems like a very smart move by M$. They're getting all the Halo fanboys to buy a game they would otherwise ignore and still selling the game to the people who've been anticipating this game.
